Towering Bayan Grove
When the Goldleaf Colony, as the Duskdancers called themselves during their earliest days of existence, emerged from the Ink River Canyons after remaining hidden for 4 years, they rebuilt their treetop home, The Canopy. However, they very soon realized that The Canopy wasn't nearly big enough for all the new wolves that the colony then had. To solve this predicament, they created the Towering Bayan Grove. At first, the wolves who stayed there, sheltered by the roots of the bayan trees, faced much hardship. Any prey they managed to store would be stolen by foxes, and it wasn't uncommon for huge enemies, like bears and elk, to come strolling through the grove. They'd either refuse to leave for many days, taking up space that the wolves needed, or they'd attack, injuring many and sometimes slaying one or two.
Conditions remained this way for years--after all, how could they ever stop the animals that caused them troubles? One dame came to them with an answer. Historians called her the Wolf of the Mist, for she arrived to the colony from a cloud of whimsical night fog. Her real name was lost to time. With magic never before seen by the wolves of the Goldleaf Colony, she cast a thick shield of mist around the grove, which would ward off any unwanted creatures with ease. Even after the mysterious dame vanished the next night, the mist stayed, protecting the wolves for centuries.
