Along the northern edge of the point, sheer cliffs line a sandy bay. Outcrops of dark rock break up the shore, some crowned with towering sea-stacks. A particularly large one forms a small islet topped with stunted pines and dense thickets of evergreen huckleberries, salal, and oceanspray. At high tide, it is cut off from the point by shallow water - a daunting swim for some, but nothing an experienced hunter can't handle. A steep path winds up the leeward side, leading to a hidden cleft in the rock which provides shelter from the prevailing wind and forms a comfortable den.
