Since then, I have seen a lot of similarities between my starter wolf and the starter wolves of new players today, the most interesting to me is how many players have their first wolf's personality set as "Observant" - which is what I had. And usually having no more than 3 markings, all in slots 1, 2 and 3. So I'm really curious to ask everyone else what was the very first wolf you created on Wolvden like? What was their design, personality? What did you base them on, were you happy with them? Did you create a dynasty of wolves who can trace their lineage back to them? Basically, I wanna know all about your First Wolves! Feel free to share images and/or art of them if you have! (obligatory apology if a thread like this has already been made) |

I joined in March 2023 out of nostalgia for Howrse, another animal-based browser game that took up most of my childhood. I really didn't expect to stick around Wolvden for long, so I didn't put too much thought into my starter wolves Nyme and Ghost. Instead, I just chose the bases that I thought looked best, slapped some Game of Thrones-inspired names on them, and started the game. I find your second observation, that many starter wolves are Observant, really interesting as well. My lead is Precise, but my second starter wolf is Observant! I'm guessing that's because many of the options, such as Lazy or Arrogant, don't sound very appealing, while Observant is a nice neutral option. As for starter markings -- I don't know if the intro customizer has changed, but when I joined, we were only given slots 1-3 to customize. I was quickly overwhelmed by all the shape options, so I only chose basic options for my starters. My starter pair is still alive, but I have very different plans for them! I hope to have a line of high-stat female leads from Nyme, while Ghost gets to retire to a cushy life of pupsitting and eventually an honorary place in the Dynasty :) |

I also was completely new to the site, I didn't come from Lioden. I was searching for wolf games to play just outta boredom and then BOOM been active here ever since. |

I chose "Observant" personality for my starter wolf because I loosely based her on myself. I went with the "notices stuff" option because in all roleplaying video games I usually take a lot of time to explore all locations in depth for any secrets or hidden treasure or interesting details in general. @ π€πΊ someone π€π"but when it came to Blue, who literally acts like a tiny goblin rat, I didn't want her to have a violent personality, so I chose Capable lol." I legit snorted hahaha tiny capable goblin rat |

Now im just imagining like a national geographic video on ~the tiny capable goblin rat~ "Here, we wittness the wild tiny capable goblin rat, we do not know much of its species, but it surely is fascinating, take a look at this!" Camera cuts to a moment where the tiny capable goblin rat falls down a tree because she has only has 1 1/2 braincells "Marvelous!" |

There she is... ta-da! I had this picture of a cozy, harmonious pack when I first started so I gave her the "humble" personality. In my mind, Camellia had this air of soft-spoken authority about her, and I thought that would fit her very well. I wanted her to look simple and kind of "earthy" so I went with light, kind-of-natural marks. The second wolf I had created I must admit I cannot remember well; I just remember almost all of my original wolves starving and leaving. Since I could only afford to buy two back, I didn't choose the second custom wolf but rather her son and a wolf I particularly liked named Elena. It's been a long road but I must admit I'm very glad to have made it this far, and it's incredible to see how her lineage has become different but familiar. |

This is what my first lead looked like (minus ghostly glow and low fog decors): She went through a few name changes before I settled on Stella Signata. The first name I came up with was Andromeda but I decided to change it when I saw at least two other players had their lead wolf with the same name! I kind of struggled to get into the game until I finally developed my vision for the pack, which ended up being inspired by obscure mythology and the occult (like alchemy, astrology, weird philosophy). Stella was in a lot of ways, perhaps unconsciously, a projection of myself. She was distant and a reluctant leader, but she was powerful, comforting and protective, and exuded otherworldly wisdom. Even though my pack is now more grounded in "reality"Β and has a clear hierarchy & order, I love the idea of Yliaster's beginnings being "shrouded in mystery and myth" and the belief that the First Lead was from another world, whose mystical blood lives on in her current descendents. The Second Wolf I created was her mate, he also went through changes. His first name was Myrwyn the Wise or something like that, and he used to be human who was cursed into the form of a wolf or something. After I got my This is SeamrΓ³g! Before he died he had a Dartmoor Forest background, vine growth, reeds, every butterfly I could find, and antlers, so he was quite majestic imho. He was very much in love with Stella and kept her grounded He was Dutiful in a sense that he was loyal and would do anything for Stella and the pack. |

Oh my goodness, Stella Signata really is pretty!Β I must ask though, what does her name mean / roughly translate to? She does seem to capture the "mysterious apparition" look, and her mate SeamrΓ³g is also very visually appealing. I'm normally not fond of the event bases but I do like the Moss and Anwnn bases from Coigreach. :] I'll admit my curiosity got the best of me and I had to look around your den... and the lore? You have my undying applause! Everyone seems to have at least a bit of something-- and my favorite of your living wolves has to be Mikke-- who is (somewhat coincidentally) one of Stella's sons! I love the mix of realism and mystically in Yliaster's lore. |
