Owlstar-Leader-He/HimHe thanked Rainbite for coming, voice muffled by the wing he was carrying. It would certainly be easier to get back to camp with the other warrior guiding them. Halftail seemed oddly dejected, and he resolved to attempt to speak with her later. She had brought the hawk back down, after all, and he surely would be injured even worse, or dead, if she hadn't been there. But for now, he was all too glad to be trudging back to camp, the hawk between them. The visit to the medicine den could wait, he felt, if only he could get some rest. His mind kept wandering back to Halftail, and her seeming regret that the patrol had taken place. In truth, he admired her instincts, how she had noticed the danger out hunting, and returned with him to get rid of it. If the hawk had struck earlier, when they were hunting... Moonpaw was a smaller cat, and could have easily been snatched while hunting on her own. Returning his focus to the trail, he kept a eye out for small roots that might trip a cat, avoiding them best he could. When they finally returned to camp, all he wanted to do was sleep. But he still had things to attend to. Taking the hawk from Halftail, he dragged it to the pile, setting it next to his fish. The kits would love all the new feathers. "Halftail." He spoke quietly, not wanting to alert Rainbite. "You did great back there. If you hadn't been there to help, I wouldn't have made it." He looked directly at the she-cat, hoping to impress the importance of his words. "Every cat needs help every once and a while. And I have lives to spare. You, unfortunately, do not. You don't need to feel guilt or shame if I happen to put those lives on the line for you, and the clan. I can't afford to lose a single warrior, not with the clan so small." |

Halftail was quiet the entire walk back to camp, the muscles in her jaw and neck were starting to ache from carrying such a large prey all the way back to camp. Not to mention the ache in her back and the soft, wheezing pain she felt with every breath she took. Surely she damaged some of her ribs, but hopefully it wasn't anything serious...or perhaps it was merely just old injuries acting up. Either way, she had just proved that cats, indeed, did not always land on their paws. Her emerald gaze seemed almost glazed over as she was lost in her own mind, her bobbed tail twitching behind her as she was still standing at the clan entrance... Owlstar having already taken the hawk off to the fresh kill pile. The large she-cat was startled from her thoughts when their leader was back, standing in front of her and seeming to appear out of nowhere to the warrior. Her gaze quickly focused on the tom, and she quickly stood alert and became more focused once more. Her ears flicked towards Owlstar as she quietly listened to him talk. Though, once he fully turned his gaze on her, she looked away...the awkwardness welling up inside of her. She never knew what to do or say whenever someone turned their full attention on her, even though she was appreciative to the words the tom was saying. "Mhm...Thank you for your kind words, Owlstar...but...hm...I think you should be in the medicine cat's den..." she murmured out, her gaze flicking towards the injuries he had sustained from the hawk. Suddenly worried she had come off as rude or cold, she quickly added on, "If you like, I can walk you there. Despite the faint feeling of hunger knawing away at her stomach, Halftail was more concerned with their leader receiving care. |

Rainbite - Warrior - He/himAs he guided the pair of injured cats back towards camp, Rainbite pushed his way through the sparse forest. There seemed to be a branch in his way, so he took his time to forcefully shove it out of the way of the path. Someone might run into that in the evening and that wouldn't be any fun. However, as the dark spotted warrior escorted the duo back to camp, he silently longed for patrolling with Silentflight. It had been much...quieter with him. These two were awfully chatty. Thank the gods they weren't talking to him, at least. Fortunately, the chatter seemed to die down as they made their way back to camp, offering Rainbite a peaceful reminder of what life had been like before the attack. Was it wrong for him to lust for his previous rugged and unpredictable life? He dreamed of the cold mountain breeze blowing through his coat, and longed for the familiar clinking of pebbles as they tumbled down the mountain base. It was a dangerous lifestyle, yet...in the midst of the chill of fear, there was always some glow of warmth. He missed his family. He missed his brother. He even missed her. Somewhat...it was a complicated feeling he'd rather not ponder. The resentment and fear had surely swallowed up whatever feelings he had left, anyways. But there was nothing for him in that mountain now, nothing but certain death and an uncontrollable hunger for vengeance. The brutal lengths he'd go to exact his revenge...it'd surely cost him his life. He was better off to let them think he was dead. Rainbite hesitated when he pushed his way into camp, yellow eyes briefly drifting about. He wanted to ensure that Silentflight had made it back safely. |

Sniffing carefully through the scraggly undergrowth, Silentflight pondered how even the earth smelled dusty and unpleasant in this new territory. It was as if even nature mocked them, taunting the clan with the differences from all they'd lost. The lanky tom knew none of it was true, that it didn't truly smell that different, but rather that he was bitter. Resentment colored every one of his senses nowadays, always wondering why certain cats died while others lived. Who chose? Starclan? Fate?Nothing, and all those lives were simply wasted? Silentflight wasn't sure which was worse. The sour, dark feeling that had started on the day of mudslide, when he'd last seen Howlingwind as nothing but a pathetic, twisted patch of fur covered in muck, continued bubbling. Everyday seemed worse, and the tom knew to keep his mouth shut or everything would come spilling out. It wouldn't care who was in the crossfire or who it hurt. Instead Silentflight focused on his duties, turning away from happy family moments between others and slinking off to his nest to await his next order. Was this going to all there ever be now? Nose wrinkling, Silentflight was pulled from his morose thoughts by chaotic yowling. Fur fluffing up, he turned towards Rainbite and noticed the larger tom was already looking back at him with narrowed eyes. Returning the nod, Silentflight kept pace with Rainbite, not wanting to get ahead or behind incase both of them were needed for whatever the altercation was about. Luckily, he didn't spot any serious injured to either Owlstar or Halftail, both standing over a dead hawk. Blinking slowly, he tilted his head to the side and studied the large bird with a grimace. Both other cats were lucky; that they didn't get hurt worse and that they'd spotted and killed a predator that would happily swoopy up a kit, or ever apprentice like Moonpaw. Humming softly, he followed in behind the group, keeping a watch on their backs on the way back to camp. It wouldn't do to have made it this far only to have one of their three strongest cats taken out in the gloom by an unexpected badger or fox. Yet before they crossed the camp line a scent caught his attention; one he was very familiar with due to the number of times he'd had to go fetch his brother from their den. For some reason Howlingwind and Tinyshadow had been close friends, the two always happy to chat with one another as Howlingwind helped carry or sort herbs for the frail medicine cat. Now, Tinyshadow's scent was almost lost under the smell of other cats who'd gone in and out. He knew the medicine cat had still been in camp when they'd left, which meant he'd have not had time to leave and get back at his slow pace for his scent to be that weak. "Starclan give me patience." He grumbled, already knowing he'd be going to fetch their wayward medicine cat. If something happened to Tinyshadow, he knew Howlingwind would find a way to haunt him. About to turn and follow the trail, he paused when he noticed Rainbite waiting by the camp entrance. "Tinyshadow hasn't made it back yet. I'm going to go get him." Tinyshadow - Medicine Cat - He/Him The walk to the herb patch seemed to take forever, particularly since he travelled much slower than most cats. He had to, both due to his limp and because if he tripped, he'd easily break something. The clan couldn't afford that. The sky had grown dark by the time he'd reached his destination, having stopped long enough to collect some laurel leaves to help carry his haul back. His eyes sight hadn't failed him, yet, so he quickly spotted the chervil he needed to dig up, even in the dimming light, pleased to see a healthy grouping of it. Chuffing happily, he sat about carefully scooping dirt away from the delicate roots. |

Owlstar-Leader-He/Him"I don't think Tinyshadow's made it back yet, and it mostly stopped bleeding." He gave the largest cut a cautious lick, somewhat relieved it didn't resume bleeding "He probably wouldn't want me bleeding all over his newly made nests." He looked over at Rainbite, who was still by the entrance of camp. Probably still unused to clan life. He had quickly gotten used to all the cats, but he had been a much younger cat of eight moons when he had joined. He left Halftail where she was, suddenly weary of the conversation. He just wanted some sleep. Cinderwing was in the nursery with Moonpaw and her kits, Riverwhisper was patching up the warriors den, Tinyshadow was out gathering herbs, Silentflight had returned with them, now leaving to retrieve Tinyshadow. and Rainbite was in camp. All accounted for. Wait. He paused suddenly, racking his brain. There was still one more... The newest recruit, who he had personally welcomed into the clan and mentored himself, Tigermoth. He recalled her spending alot of time by the river... Hopefully she was still there. He didn't have the energy to look. He dragged himself into his den, a hollow worn into the soft bark of a fallen yellow pine tree. Rearranging the moss beneath him, he flopped down onto it, wincing when a stray twig jabbed his pelt. Pulling it out with his teeth, he tossed it to the side, curling into a tight ball. It wasn't long before his exhaustion overcame him, and he entered his dreams. It was a pleasant dream, in which he raced across the beautiful golden fields near the old camp, feeling free and happy with the wind in his fur. The dream soon faded, giving way to true sleep. |

Rainbite - Warrior - He/himThe stoic feline's eyes eventually settled upon Silentflight, who'd pushed his way into camp behind Owlstar and Halftail. Good- he was accounted for as well. It wasn't necessarily that Rainbite cared for all the warriors on a personal level (he barely knew them and made no attempt to befriend them as of yet, after all), more so as...cogs in a machine. They were important to daily life, even if Rainbite was confident in doing everything by himself. Besides, even if they weren't "friends" to him, they still mattered to someone else. As silent and aloof as he was, he still perked his ears attentively as Silentflight spoke. Hmm...their medicine cat shouldn't be outside of camp all by himself- especially considering how frail he was. BushClan couldn't risk losing him, and he and his mentor had saved Rainbite's life. "Stay safe." The burly feline rumbled before flicking his ragged tail. "Need assistance?." He'd leave that much up to Silentflight. If he felt the need for company in the darkness, then Rainbite would follow. If not, he'd stay back and call it a day for the evening. ...He should probably eat at some point as well. He'd forgotten about that- clan customs. In the mountains, a meal wasn't guaranteed every day. Some nights, they went to sleep with their bellies growling. |

The large she-cat was exhausted, the adrenaline of the scuffle wearing off and the pain and weariness slowly taking over. She watched as Owlstar left and returned to his respective den. Her emerald gaze flickered around camp, noting how quiet and...empty it looked after all that the clan had endured these past few days. Her head drooped a bit, her eyes closing as she took a deep breath for a moment, sending a silent prayer to Starclan or whomever was listening and hoping that everyone was doing relatively okay. She sat back on her haunches, her eyes closed as she simply relaxed for a moment to take in the cool, early night air...listening to the faint sound of the crickets chirping around the clan. Her eyes slowly opened, a quiet rumble rising from her empty stomach. She slowly stood to her paws as she was reminded that it had been some time since her last meal. She took her time in making her way over to the fresh kill pile, glancing over it and picking out a medium-sized mouse. Not feeling especially hungry, but knowing she needed the food, especially after everything that had happened this evening. She didn't return to the Warrior's den, simply walking over and quietly settling down towards the outskirts of the clan, near one of the entrances. Once she had lied down to eat, Halftail realized just how tired and hungry she was. She began to quietly eat her meal, her ears flicking and twitching to listen around her in camp. She hadn't checked if everyone was in camp...but she hoped everyone was. She didn't know how much longer she'd be able to stay up. It was already getting clear that she was exhausted, her chewing on her dinner was slow and her emerald eyes continued to drift closed... |

The lithe she-cat slowly made her way through the river, feeling at ease as she could finally more without pain. She could feel the current easing as she came closer to shore, a few glittering scales reminded her to catch some fish and maybe a few frogs especially since Cinderwings kits where due any minute now. She paused and became as still as stone, waiting patiently until a decent sized carp appeared. Claws lashed out and hooked the fish, lifting it to her head and delivering the kill bite. Tigermoth purred at the taste and was grateful that prey ran well in Bushclan territory. She waded over to the edge of the river and gently placed the fish down, making sure to hide it in case any foxes or other cats tried to steal it. A loud ribbit made her grin as she padded forward, but a groan she emitted from the pain in her shoulder made the frog disappear. "Mousedung" Tigermoth pouted, "I need to ask Tinyshadow when I'm gonna fully heal". She didn't like how inept her wound made her feel, she needed to prove to the clan she would be able to protect them, especially with all the grief she knew they still felt from the incident that had occurred before her arrival. Tigermoth then looked up at the sky and realised just how late it was getting. She ran (well ran as fast as her shoulder would let her) back to where her carp lay waiting and then picked it up. She made her way back to clan quietly as she didn't want to disturb anyone, entering through one of the entrances, she was startled to see Halftail still up and meowed a muffled greeting through her mouthful of carp. She then walked past the she-cat and placed the carp down on the freshkill pile. She had hoped to see Owlstar to inform him of her progess as he had mentored her and helped her learn how to adapt to clan life. She felt like she belonged here much more than she had at her old home due to how welcoming all the cats in the clan where. She sighed wondering how her old colony was getting on, the memories of that night filled her with fear but she managed to regain control through licking the scar on her shoulder |

Owlstar twisted and turned, unable to get comfortable. His cuts from the fight ached, and, no matter how tired he was, he simply couldn't fall back asleep. Climbing out of his nest, he started to groom his slightly unruly short fur, till it lay flat with it's usual shine, exposing the cuts along his flank. Perhaps he ought to get them looked at, as halftail had suggested. He could hear faint pawsteps in the clearing below, along with a muffled greeting. Was that Tinyshadow, returning at last? He stuck his head out of his den, peering downwards. Tigermoth! Well, there was someone he could talk to. He left his den fully, and padded out into the cleaning. It was always nice to see the younger warrior, whom he had mentored, and he always found it easy to talk with her. She didn't seem nearly as haunted by sorrow and regret as the rest of his clanmates, although she had had a rough past. "Tigermoth! Good to see you up this late. Most everyone else is asleep, except for Tinyshadow and Silentflight, who went to get him." He felt a bit of genuine enthusiasm on seeing her, and greeted her with a slight purr. "Poor cat probably just hasn't made it back yet, but I hope nothing's happened." |

Tigermoth glanced up and smiled "Maybe they found a new herb that needs investigating?" She purred trying to put the leader at ease, he had been her mentor and helped her transition into clan life. She felt a little self conscious as she was covered in water, so she started to groom her pelt out carefully, especially around her still healing scar. As she started to stretch outward, she indicated with her tail towards the freshkill pile where her carp lay forlornly, "Has Cinderwing eaten yet? I got a nice carp for her to make sure she keeps her energy up." She also realised she had wasted the day through trying to strengthen her leg and said "I'm sorry for my absence today Owlstar, its been hard trying to keep up with everyone with my leg still healing, I can join the dawn patrol as well as the midday one to make up for it." |
