The basics 1) Stats - Stalkers need smarts/wisdom. - Chasers need speed/agility. - Finishers need strength. Choose and level up your wolves accordingly. 2) Personality - Refer to this personality chart. - Your teams should be all one personality type or a mix of two compatible types. - Compatible types are: Romantic/Friendly, Romantic/Aggressive, Friendly/Stoic, or Aggresive/Stoic. 1) Higher role stats 2) Higher synergy - Increase synergy by sending out the same party of wolves often. 3) Biome & trail type - Refer to this biome map. - The easier the biome, the easier to catch prey. - The smaller the trail, the greater likelihood of success. Advanced tips Succeed in hunts more: - Get high-stat wolves from the Giveaway forums (free) or from the TC (cheap). - Pay attention to their role stats, not their overall stats. Hunt more often: - You unlock 2 hunting parties at 25 adult slots, 3 at 50 slots, and 4 at 75 slots. - Get more adult slots fast with the Pack Life talents (select them once your lead wolf reaches Level 10). Don't worry about personalities: - Buy personality changers from the personality snake. Because each personality gives a wolf a small stat bonus, you can also change their personality to make them better at their role. Return to Table of Contents. |

The basics - Some explore encounters can reward amusement. (See the GH guide.) - Some biomes have more amusement encounters than others. (See this forum post.) 2) Rescouting - Rescounting always brings back some amusement. - However, Exploring is much faster! 3) Buying from the TC If you socialize wolves with compatible personality types, they will gain: - +5 mood - Some EXP - Potentially some role proficiency Advanced tips How to never need amusement: - Get the Strong Bonds talent when your lead wolf reaches level 10. - Socialize your wolves in compatible groups every day. The basics - Sell food/amusement on the TC. - Do daily snake quests. - Do daily Melvin quests. Least effective - Do daily Enclave quests. - Go fishing. - Sell things to Raccoon Wares. (avoid) - Selling things in SC and/or GC - Buying with real-life money from the Grove Advanced tips How do I price my trades? - ALWAYS check the TC for the current market price. - Price your trades in SC and GC (e.g. 100 food for 400 SC OR 1 GC). - The closer to the current SC:GC rate, the more likely players will buy in GC. What are the best things to sell? - Food. Prices increase dramatically in winter and fall during spring. - Amusement. - Herbs, healing salves, and lucky feet. Prices may increase before/during events. - Anything collectible: recipes, decor, trophies you don't need. What should I not do? - Do NOT sell to Raccoon Wares. You can sell everything for much more on the TC. - Do NOT rely on selling wolves. Unless you have rare wolves, the wolf market is terrible. - Do NOT sell all your trophies! Even if they are useless now, trophies may be used in rare future recipes. What are some other ways players make SC/GC? - Trade flipping: Buy an underpriced item, then sell it at a higher price. This usually happens with event items, which get rarer a few months after the event. - Having a valuable stud. Other players will breed to studs with rare bases, eyes, and marks. - Selling artwork and CD. Common mistake: Do not sell your items to Raccoon Wares (unless for a quest)! All items can be sold for more on the TC. Return to Table of Contents. |

The basics - The herbs you can forage depend on your biome. - You can trade 3 herbs you have for 1 herb you don't have at the bottom of the Herbalist page. - To cure wolves, you have to first diagnose them for a small fee (the fee eventually goes away when your herbalist has enough herbalism proficiency). - Some illnesses are contagious and will spread if you don't cure them! (See this chart.) Advanced tips What if I can't cure my wolves right away? - Problem: Lead wolves and unsorted wolves (not in a cave) can enter any cave. This means unsorted wolves can spread and contract illnesses easily. - Solution: Make sure you have at least 2 caves. Put all of your sick wolves in one cave and all of your healthy wolves in the other. This way, illness spreads much less. What is the most efficient way to use my herbalist? - Forage as much as you can during the day. - Queue up medicine crafting at night! Why do some players want illnesses? - Wolves can't have more than 1 illness at a time. - Some illnesses have mild effects (e.g. fleas, which after contracting does nothing). - As a result, infecting all of your wolves means you'll never have to cure other diseases. - Do I recommend this? Not really... just out of personal preference. Common mistake: Not curing your wolves + not quarantining them. Some illnesses with rarer ingredients, such as Influenza, can decimate packs. The basics 2.5 months = Puppy (weaned) = Can be pup-trained 6 months = Adolescent = Can be apprenticed 1 year 0 months = Adult = Can take on roles 7 years 2 months = Elder 7 years 6 months = Death rolls begin - Your breeding male - Other players' studs (use the Search Wolves function) - Your wolves' pairbonds (pairbonds are unlocked after 30 RO) - Puppies with lower than 100% survival can die upon RO - Puppies' survival chance increases by 7% every day if they/their mother is fed and played to 100% - Puppies' survival chance increases by 2-3% if they are pup-trained - Puppies' survival chance decreases by 15% if they/their mother is not fed and played to 100% - Pupsitters (a role) can protect puppies, increasing their survival chance - Pupsitters start with 60% protection, but can reach up to 100% with proficiency - Pupsitters can protect up to 10 puppies, but their protection will be divided between them - Example: A puppy has 60% survival and 30% protection from a pupsitter. The mother has been fed/played to 100%. This puppy can still die upon RO because it will only have 97% survival. - The maximum training bonus a puppy can get is +57 stats - Any wolf can pup-train a puppy in 1- and 2-hour lessons - 3-hour lessons must be taught by wolves with specific roles (See this GH guide.) - To get the maximum bonus, pup-training teachers should have 50% higher stats than the puppy in the stat that they are teaching - The adult wolf must have at least 20% proficiency in that role to have an apprentice - Adding an apprentice is denoted by a blue "+ Apprentice" button Where the "+ Apprentice" button will show up: - Hunting: Under the party selection GUI (can select stalker, chaser, or finisher apprenticeship) - Scouting: Under the scouting GUI - Foraging: Under the foraging button - Mixing medicine: Under the medicine description when you select a medicine - Pup-sitting: At the bottom of the pup-sitting page after you select a pupsitter Breeding males and studs - You can have one breeding male/stud at a time. - If you set them as a stud, other players can also pay to breed to them. - Successful studs can get lots of breeding requests. - As a result, many players use studs as a good source of SC/GC. - However, making a successful stud is a big money investment. - Removing your breeding male early (before they retire) costs 20 GC. Right now, studs are super competitive. The most successful studs have: - Low generation (G1, G2, or G3) - T3 or T* base, especially breed-only T3s - 10 markings, preferably rare (T2+) - High stats, either evenly distributed or role-specific - Good decor and a catchy forum post! - Carrier status - Piebald Title = "NAME // Generation Base // other distinguishing features" Posts may also include: alternative payments, pup showcases, cool images/formatting, and commissioned art. Examples Còiseam: Basic layout Jugendstil: With cool images Nagesh: With cool images and a pup showcase A Piece of the Sky: With cool HTML/CSS Gavriil: With cool HTML/CSS Heats and nesting After breeding, there are 24 ROs of nonbreeding (4 pregnant, 5 nursing, 15 cooldown). To breed a wolf the maximum number of times, breed on or before: - 1 year 1.5 months - 2 years 2 months - 3 years 2 months - 4 years 2 months - 5 years 2 months - 6 years 2 months - 7 years 2 months If you do not nest the mother on the Nesting page by the last day of pregnancy, some of these pups may die. To nest, you need nesting material. You can: - Craft nesting material using your items (I recommend using Large Leaves) - Buy nesting material from Raccoon Wares Forget to nest your wolves all the time? You can also buy Auto-Nesting from the Grove. Common mistakes: Setting your breeding male too soon! Many new players are stuck with unprofitable breeding males for a long time because they do not have the 20 GC to change them. Return to Table of Contents. |
