Daltharia: Overview of Territories

Daltharia-a land shrouded in mystery and legend-is home to thousands of wolves who migrated from our world in a mass-exodus during a period of time known as the Bloody Era. Daltharia can only be accessed by using one of the six elemental shards, which then opens a portal to this mystical and magical land. Daltharia is divided into eleven territories. These territories are ruled by a khan (alpha) who presides over his or her own pack plus the minor packs that live in the territory. Below you will find a description of each territory, its khan, and the major pack that resides in it.

Karaganda:

Karaganda is a cold territory, covering thousands of miles of frozen tundra. Towards the middle of Karaganda lies the Frozen Forests, where millions of trees (and a few unfortunate creatures) are trapped in centuries-old ice. Ice Wraiths, the spirits of those unfortunate creatures trapped in the ice, can inflict a chilling touch that saps warmth and life. Wolves venturing into the Frozen Forests risk encountering them.

Karaganda is presided over by Khan Serikbolat. Pure white with only bloody holes where his eyes once were, Serikbolat is known for his fierceness in war and his lack of empathy. Any wandering wolf who dares step into Serikbolat's territory without permission is swiftly punished-or worse. It is rumored that Serikbolat's breath can turn people to stone. The major pack that resides in Karaganda is the Boranbai pack, directly under Serikbolat's leadership.

Creatures that inhabit Karaganda include Tenge Boryu, massive, shaggy-furred bison adopted to the harsh climate. They are prized by the Boranbai pack for their meat and hides, and hunting them is a test of skill and courage for young wolves. Similar to Zher Ana, Karaganda has a unique sub-species of Kulan adapted to the tundra. Their coats are thicker and their hooves wider for better traction on ice. Beware the Shurale! These horned, tree-like creatures inhabit the fringes of the Frozen Forests. They are said to lure people to their deaths, and Serikbolat often uses them to deter trespassers on his borders.

Satbayev:

Satbayev, on the west coast of Daltharia, is a sharp contrast from the colder climates of Pavlodar and Karaganda. Satbayev is renowned for its pristine coastlines and warm, tropical climate. A large, long river trails through Satbeyev, known as the Bota River. Strange, aquatic creatures dwell in its depths. Further inland, you will come across dense jungle, where it is rumored the demonic spider, Karakurt, lives.

Satbayev's khan is a wolf called Nursultan. Nursultan, a rugged, scarred wolf with yellow, ancient eyes, rules with an iron but fair paw. Orta Juz is the main pack under Nursultan's jurisdiction.

Satbayev, like the surrounding territories, is the home to numerous creatures. Orang Pendek: Based on Orangutan legends, these ape-like creatures with incredible strength inhabit the deepest parts of the jungle, living solitarily or in small groups. Alkarakurt: These giant versions of the Karakurt spider are truly monstrous.Their bites are said to be lethally venomous, and they are a terrifying predator in the jungle depths. Su Murens: These are reptilian creatures that resemble eels but possess venomous bites. They lurk in the murky depths of the Bota River, a threat to any who venture too deep.

Abkhaziya:

Abkhaziya hosts vast, lush steppes where creatures of all kinds roam. While wolves are the dominant species, Abkhaziya is also home to a breed of flying horses, known as the Tulpar. Abkhaziya also hosts a wide range of legends-some are the only in all of Daltharia to feature humans. One such legend is the legend of Aytaur, protector of the steppes. Legends say Aytaur was a human woman who sacrificed herself to save the steppes from a great disaster. Now, she appears as a spectral rider on a magnificent white Tulpar, protecting the land and its inhabitants from those who would do it harm. The Kishi pack revere her and keep her legend alive. Other creatures include the Div, mischievous spirits that can take the forms of various animals, and the Bars, pure-white leopards who occupy the higher steppes.

Abkhaziya is overseered by Kulai, an ancient seer with the ability to communicate with the ancestors. Not only is Kulai skilled with speaking with spirits, he is also a renowned healer. Kulai is considered to be the keeper of Abkhaziya's rich oral tradition, including the legends of Aytaur and the history of humans in the steppes.

The Kishi is the major pack in Abkhaziya.

Zher Ana:

Known as the Motherland, Zher Ana is home to the original portal through which the first wolves of Daltharia-Mother and Father-entered the world. Zher Ana is also home to Mount Baiterek, an active volcano said to be the exact place where the world was created. Mount Baiterek is also said to be the home of Tengri, the creator deity. The steam that spews constantly from the mount of the volcano is said to be the breath of the creator and those who breathe it are rumored to receive great wisdom and knowledge.

Like all other Daltharian territories, Zher Ana is home to thousands of unique creatures and spirits. Here are a few: Yelcottu (Earth Spirit Wolves): These ethereal wolves are said to be spirits of the land itself, manifestations of Zher Ana's wild heart. They appear as spectral wolves with fur that shimmers with the colors of the earth (brown, green, gray). They are silent protectors, rarely seen but fiercely defending the land from those who would do it harm. Tulpars of the First Flight: These magnificent winged horses are said to be descendants of the very first Tulpars who carried Mother and Father through the portal. They are incredibly rare, residing in the highest mountain ranges of Zher Ana. Seeing one is considered an omen of great change or a sign of Tengri's favor.

Taldy Korgan

A strange, arid land consisting mostly of miles of large sand dunes, Taldy Korgan is home to the fierce breed of wolves known as the Korgans. The Korgans, with their sandy-colored fur and red eyes, blend in with their surroundings, rendering them capable of sneaking up undetected on their unsuspecting victims. Taldy Korgan has no reigning khan and thus the land is roamed by outlaw wolves who prey on the weak.

Unlike the Khan-led packs of other territories, the Korgans operate in smaller, constantly shifting packs. Survival of the fittest is the law, and leadership is earned through strength and cunning. Korgans are ingenious, having used what little is available in Taldy Korgan to their advantage. They have harnessed the power of the wind, using small, light gliders to traverse the vast sands.

Will be updating this with more territories as time goes on
