Are base recipes worth it?

To start, which bases are craftable? I know that Fox, Badger, and Caribou are craftable. Are there any more? How are each of these base recipes obtained? I know that Badger can be dropped by badger enemies, and Fox can be dropped by fox enemies. What is Caribou dropped by? What biomes are the best for encountering each enemy or have the best likelihood for recipe drops? Then, how likely are these recipes dropped? How likely are their crafting ingredients dropped by enemies? Is it worth investing so much time and commitment into explore encounters to obtain these recipes and their ingredients? Would it be cheaper or less time consuming to take the chance studding to a male with one of these bases and just pray that it passes down? What would the best candidate be for applying one of these tier 3 bases to? I assume that a NIB with the lowest gen would be most profitable. Thanks for any help and advice that can be offered! |

The caribou recipe can be dropped by caribou. Caribou is mostly found in the glacier or tundra Fox is mostly found in any biome, but they're harder to come by and get trophies from Badger is mostly found in the Rainforest It will be difficult to get all the items needed for the recipes, I have better luck getting caribou items than the other two. Some items are far harder to obtain, so it will take a lot of grinding to craft a base if you don't want to buy it off TC Depending on why you want those bases passed down, then it might be cheaper and quicker to just stud to a T3. I craft recipes if it's for a separate breeding project where I do not want popular studs involved in the family tree. It can get a bit messy to find a pair for you wolf if it has a major stud in his family. My example is my Cresal cave where I keep all my T3 G1 pairs for my high stat T3s generations project. I did have to craft a caribou base for one of them as he was a really nice chased wolf but low tier base. If you want to do something similar to what I'm doing then I wouldn't recommend adding popular studs to their lines, and it's technically called private lines as it'll be your own private pairs. An issue with studding is that you might not get what you hope for. If you're going to breed to a T3, the highest chance to get a T3 from them would be by getting a T3 female with the same base or very similar. This is where the base genetics come in play, so you'll have to match the stud's genetics for a higher chance at a T3 pup. The base genetics is whether they're muted, monochrome, warm, light, dark, etc. A good candidate for a T3 base in my opinion has to have high stats and very low generation. I've been focusing on G1s, so if you find a 1 yr old G1 with minimum 270 starter stats. That's the perfect candidate for a T3 base BUT I highly recommend leveling your wolf to the max and still continue to let them hunt as it'll increase their stats daily. I make sure to send my hunters out to their 10 daily hunts before RO happens, and I won't retire them until they're 7yrs old with a replacement in line. This has allowed me to get G1 wolves to 1k stats multiple times, and I get T3 G2 pups with 500 stats as their heirs. |
