Born to a lone she-wolf, Starkov and his older brother Varek quickly learned the cutthroat ways of surviving without a pack. And once the two could survive on their own, the pair's mother left them to fend for themselves. Things were good for a while, and the brothers were close. However, Varek had a growing arrogance that no one could keep in check. And when the Vanishing, then the Turning happened, so did Varek's powers. This furthered the increasing distance between the two brothers. Varek was leading them both into a lifestyle that Starkov simply could not support. Stealing, lying, killing. All unnecessary in Starkov's eyes, but 'fun' in Varek's.

Conflict between the two brothers was inevitable, and when they did finally fight, Starkov's defeat almost came with the loss of his left eye. They parted ways, and Starkov hasn't seen Varek since. Instead, Starkov took to wandering again, forced to move closer to the Lake as the Turned spread. He stumbled upon a pack of wolves but found himself welcome within the Normal Pack- much to his surprise. Starkov decided to join them, discreetly considering it to be a temporary thing. Purely for survival until the Turned go away, then he'd leave. Yet he starts debating whether to make this new pack lifestyle a permanent thing... If there is a pack left after all of this.
