The Story of Matsumi:
Matsumi was not of the Forsaken Lotus Pack, she lived with her father, Polaris, with his pack, The Limestone Pack. Once she became an adolescent she decided to go her separate ways from her father. She wanted to have a life of her own. She always was free spirited, not wanting to stay confined to one place for too long. She journeyed for many moons, staying with many different packs from spans of a few nights to a couple moons. But none of the packs she had visited felt like home. That was until she stumbled upon the Forsaken Lotus Pack. The leader, Astwerwillow, was a kind, gentle soul. She welcomed Matsumi with open paws. The pack seemed genuine and good. Matsumi new that this was her new home, that this is the pack she belonged with.
She stayed by Asterwillows side for most days, helping her fufill her duties as a leader. She accompanied Astwerillow to check on the birthmothers, to meet the hunters and see what they had provided for the pack, to help the herbalist tend to their wounds. She looked up to Asterwillow so much, she was like a mother figure to Matsumi. After all, she never knew the warm embrace of her mother. Her father would tell her stories though, how she was the prettiest wolf in all the land. How she was the wolf for him. Her father would always tell her how she had her mother's eyes, and beautiful, striking fur. She was proud to be her mother's daughter, even though she never truly knew her.
That being said, Astwerwillows severe health decline really took a toll on Matsumi. She knew that no wolf can live forever, but she didn't know it would hurt this much. After all, Asterwillow was family to her. While on the verge of death Asterwillow mustered enough energy to get up and speak before the pack. Unbeknown to her Matsumi was about to be handed the opportunity of a life time.
"Look well, wolves," she would call to grab the wolves' attentions, "It is not unknown that I am dying. I am aware as of all of you, and I know I do not have much time with you and that is why I must announce this now. Matsumi will be my heir. When I die and ascend to the world above Matsumi will assume my role as leader. As leader, my word is law. This is my decision and no one can change that. If you disagree you may leave, but my words are not changing."
Matsumi was stunned to say the least. She was filled with so many emotions, sadness, anger, guilt, fear. She did not want to see the end of Asterwillow. She would dread the day that her leader, and more importantly, her family, would leave her to know the greater beyond. How she would soon just be a name in the pack's dynasty records.
There was much to be done on the days following Asterwillows death. Her body would be brought and buried on the sacred hilltop about a half days trek from the main camp. There, a ceremony would be held in her honor, each wolf reliving and sharing their personal experiences with her and once night had fallen the pack would return home in wait of the following day's ceremony. During early dawn of the next day, when dew still littered the grass, a pack meeting would be called. Matsumi would assume the role as pack leader and new laws would be written.
The following weeks were hard for Matsumi, it feels like it was only just yesterday that Matsumi was a young pup desperately tying to find her calling in life. She had never been in such a position of power, it was confusing at first. It was especially hard without her mentor there to guide her, but she had her friends to assist when needed. That's when she decided that there would be a council. She would choose the wisest and most experienced wolves out of each of the pack's roles. There would be a lead hunter, scout, nurturer, and of course the herbalist. She would go on to see her pack thrive under her paws, and she finally understood that this was her calling all along.

The Story of Zezili:
Zezili was a miracle wolf, being born mutated with wings and the innate ability to see the future. Although, no wolf knew the future thing quite yet. The wings on the other hand, those were obvious, any wolf with eyes could see them. Ravenwing, Zezili's mother, was initially shocked, how could her pup been born with wings? That seemed impossible, it seemed to defy all laws of nature. Some in the pack believed that it was Gaia blessing the pack with a miracle while others thought it was a bad omen and Zezili should be disposed of. But Matsumi would hear none of this though. She didn't quite know exactly how it had happened, but she knew that Zezili would grow to do wonderous things.
When Zezili got older she realized she could see certain things, she could see things others could not. Not physical things, but things that have yet to happen. It first began as simple little visions, ones that flashed, showing an image, before passing quickly. She was terrified at first, she was born blind. She had no idea what it was like to see. She talked to her mother about it but of course Ravenwing just brushed it off. Her pup who was blind indefinitely was claiming to "see", how could she have believed it?
The more she grew the longer the visions stayed, they went from simple flashing images to whole scenes. It wasn't just anything she saw, there seemed to be a pattern. She would see a wolf in distress or pain, whether it was Naya who had stepped on the thorn and needed to visit Saba or Fynn who had lost the scent of an animal the hunting party was tracking, leaving the pack with no dinner for the night. And then, like she had predicted the future, she would hear Naya talking to Baloo about how she stepped on a thorn and needed an ointment healing salve and when Fynn and the hunting party returned home, they returned with nothing. She saw what others couldn't and she didn't know what to do. She needed to test it somehow, she needed to know.
