What do I need to know?

I'm getting back into the game on the side while becoming more active on LD and was wondering what exactly is the best way to play, and what I should prioritise BEFORE getting a pack, such as stocking up on medicine supplies, etc.

what are the current trends in the trading center [gender, lineage, generation, mutations, etc.]
basically just ramble at me. I want to know everything.

What to prioritize:

I think the best way to play this game is to value high stats above all. In LD, stats don't really mean a whole lot. But here, stats are everything! A pack with all high statted wolves will do much better than a pack with all low statted wolves. And for reference, wolves born with 600+ stats are considered high statted. But even pups born with high stats will be no good if they are mismanaged. Learning to educate your pups and adolescents properly so that they grow up to meet their potential is vital for your pack's success.

More assorted advice:

Having a good stock of herbs and medicines is a good idea, especially healing salves. You will need the salves when you are exploring and battling. And your pack wolves will pop up will health problems randomly. It helps to have what you need to solve those problems right away, so you're not scrambling. Having an herbalist to deal with these things is very helpful.

Don't set a breeding male too early. So many new players come into the forums asking how they can switch out their breeding male, and I have to tell them that they can't switch without either paying GC or waiting until their current breeding male dies. Early on in your game, you probably won't have any wolves that could serve as a valuable stud. So you want to keep that slot open for later when you get more valuable wolves. You don't want to be stuck with a worthless breeding male when better males are available to you. Learning to use public studs and pairbonds are great ways to avoid needing a breeding male at all.
