Maplefur - Elder - Tags: The patrol

Maplefur sifted through the dirt and sand that lined the riverbank, hoping to catch the sparkle of shells or pretty rocks. He had already found a couple of feathers lying about, which were now sitting in a pile behind him so they didn't get wet. His paw grazed multiple smooth surfaces and he got to work digging the shells and rocks up. After a few minutes, there was another neat pile next to him that sparkled blues and pinks. It wasn't a lot of stuff, just enough to fit in his jaws for him to be able to carry back to camp. As he padded along, the yowls and sounds of a commotion reached his ears. That sounded like the patrol that left earlier! Maplefur dropped the trinkets, and despite his joints beginning to hurt, he pushed himself into a sprint to check what was going on.

(@Woof yes, that would be a good chance for four of the rogues to meet the clan)

Smokey let himself go limp in the grasp of a grey tom. It would do him no good to struggle with the presence of four clan cats. That's why he was incredibly shocked when Cosmos wriggled free from the russet she-cats grasp. He let out a growl of disapproval: that cloud-brain would get himself killed! Clearly, he didn't understand the weight of the predicament they were in. Smokey's heard the stories of clan cats and their ferocity. He had planned to find them and ask to humbly join, but now that was all ruined.

Hopestar fell back in surprise when the tom beneath her wriggled free from her grasp, causing her claws to draw blood in the process. Rage washed over her like the river current and blinded her from everything around her. Hopestar was a fair leader, often relaxed and didn't let the power go to her head. But when someone crossed her, she was a force to be reckoned with. "Tansyvine, hold this tom down! Thistlepaw, help Shadeheart and Tansyvine!" She was off before anyone could argue, hoping that her three clanmates could handle the remaining rogue.

She charged off after the tom that escaped her grasp, fueled deeply by rage. Who did this tom think he was to wander into her territory and defy her?! Hopestar soon caught up with him then launched herself onto his back, digging her claws into his skin.

Cosmos narrowly avoided Tansyvine's grasp and yowled at her before taking off behind her. He weaved in and out of trees stealthily and easily, thanks to his small figure. Cosmos began to pant. Though he was athletic, he wasn't as fast as the cat chasing him. He whipped his head around and snarled at the rust-colored she-cat that had taken it upon herself to jump and latch onto the Siamese rogue. "I wasn't the one who caught your stupid rabbit, now get OFF of me", Cosmos yowled. He could feel her claws tighten on his back, luckily, she didn't puncture the muscle around his shoulder blades, just his back. "What do you want from me?! We are all cats aren't we? What's the big issue?!", Cosmos hissed behind his back. He needed to get out of this cat's grasp, and fast, but he needed to find out how first. He needed to find this she-cat's weakness. Cosmos could tell she was a leader, probably the leader of these cats. He couldn't attack her, because if the legends were true, she has 9 lives, and Cosmos would only be taking one, so that wouldn't work, even if he was successful. 

(@BowheadBoy before the patrol gets back with the rogues, I'd like for Sky Eyes to receive a vision from StarClan about taking rogues into the clan.)

Hopestar successfully pinned the tom down with thorn-sharp claws. She knew he was quick so she would not underestimate him this time. Hopestar bared her fangs at him to show her anger. "You listen to me, rogue, simply by trespassing on our territory you're guilty. Nobody walks on RainClan territory without my say so." She studied him carefully while keeping pressure on him. "Now, we're going to walk back to the clearing like civilized cats. If you cooperate, no further harm will come to you. Do you understand?"

"Only as much as you think you can carry. I can manage the coltfoot and blackberry leaves myself." He replied. He lifted his nose and quickly found a clump of coltsfoot nearby. He nipped the stems carefully, leaving the individual fronds on the ground as he went. He nudged them carefully into a pile before turning to the younger tabby.

"I think we've got all we need, ready to head back?"

Raven just stopped herself from jumping when she heard the other cat above her. Although she'd been waiting for just this instance. Ahe twisted her head and looked up at him curiously, willing any surprise out of her expression. He was somewhat of a handsome cat, with strange blue eyes she had never seen a cat possess. She wondered just how far she must have come to meet someone so different in appearance to cats she had known before.

"Hello, stranger." She greeted him warmly. "What brought you up here?"

The warrior was thankful enough that the tom he had pinned currently wasn't as mouse-brained as the other one and was just accepting his fate. He glanced over towards where Hopestar had taken off after the other rogue, his ears going back as he did worry about her not having someone else back her up. Though it was too late for that and he could only hope Starclan would watch out for her.

He turned his attention back down to the tom he pinned down, shifting to just lay on top of him like he was his own personal bed at the moment. "I've got him, you two. He's smart enough to not try anything it seems." He spoke up, lashing his tail a few times as he flexed his claws but sheathed them after that single flex as another warning. He'd be civil at least, but he wasn't going to let him up any time soon. Too bad for that rabbit being crushed under the both of them now.

He raised his head though a little, ears twitching along with his whiskers as he opened his mouth to taste any scents coming to him. Wait, there was another unknown scent...female? He glanced towards Tansyvine and Thistlepaw, sweeping his tail from side to side softly. "Stay alert. There's someone else close by."

Smokey squirmed underneath the tom that held him down, giving him a prick with his claws as a warning. He hated being pinned like this: it left him defenseless and completely complacent to whatever the clan cats decided to do with him. Although he wasn't a cloud-brain like Cosmos, it didn't mean he wasn't thinking of ways out of this situation. When the tom mentioned the scent of another, Smokey drew in a deep breath to see that he was right: there was another cat nearby. Another loner?

"You know, I won't run off or attack if you let me up," Smokey muttered to the tom. "I was searching for you clan cats anyways."

Cosmos scoffed. "Why would I do that? If you wanna hold a public execution for all you prim and proper clan cats, just say so. " Cosmos shook her off of his back but didn't submit to her leadership. Who was she to tell him what to do? After all, he was a rogue, which meant no one controlled him. "What's in it for me if I walk back with you guys?!", Cosmos snickered, a malicious smile beaming across his small muzzle. He slightly bared his teeth at the russet she-cat.

At his mocking tone, Hopestar sneered, "You'd do well to remember your place." She dug her claws into the dirt beneath her paws, imagining it was his flesh. "If you come back with me, we'll escort you to the edge of our territory. If not, I suppose you can try and run, but if you're caught again, I'll have no problem telling my warriors to cut you down." Her green eyes glinted, daring him to run. Hopestar knew that he wouldn't get far.

Just then, Cosmos had an idea. "How about I join you kitty cats so we don't run into this problem again. I'm famished", he emphasized his words, mocking that of a helpless cat. He rolled his blue eyes at her words."I wouldn't get caught again. I've learned so much already", he let out a small laugh, sizing up the leader silently, then meeting her eyes again. He walked closer to her until their noses almost touched. "And how many warriors do you have? I've been on this territory for a little over a moon and only this once have I been caught. Oh dear.." Cosmos backed up, throwing his head to look up at the canopy of trees. He laughed almost manically. "Oh dear, miss leader. You're low on clan cats aren't you?". He mocked her slightly, using a 'baby' voice and furrowing his eyebrows, while still displaying a toothy smile.
