Giving up Pups in Explore

Giving up Pups in Explore

Okay so I posted this as a comment on another post, but I think it's specific enough for it's own post...

Okay I'm sure this idea has so many problems, but what if you could give pups to wolves you meet in explore? Not the 'enemy' ones, the ones you can befriend. There could be limits, like only female wolves taking pup, limits to the amount of pups and so on. Then there would be a chance that the wolf gives you something in return.

This way you would still be able to chase pups easily as usual, or if you want to put the time into explore you could get a small reward. So gameplay wouldn't change for current players, but it is an added bonus. For people who focus heavily on lore but really don't want to keep a particular pup this might be a preferred option?

This would require a bit of coding, but you might be able to use the acorn-trade mechanic with a drop-down menu?  I don't know a lot about coding however so it might actually be difficult to implement. You would also need some writing, but not much.

Example/Idea:

"A friendly wolf appears. She wags her tail and comes up to you. Making friendly small talk she mentions her pack's difficulty having pups. You happen to have to many mouths to feed..."

With buttons like "Offer pups" which pressed shows a drop-down menu of all your pups, a "Befriend" button that lets you try to befriend as usual, and a "Leave" button when pressed could have some text like "You show your sympathy for her plight, and continue on your way" and takes you on to explore as usual.

If given pups simple text like "The wolf thanks you profusely, then turns and walks away with the pups trailing happily behind her." Then if you get something just add text like "It seems the wolf left  -insert reward- behind, you might as well take it"

Please tell me what problems could occur with this that I hadn't thought of!

Sounds nice! It'd be a reward for pups but in a more limited/effort-requiring way than just chasing them all and getting sc for it. And it's pretty cute. :)

I definitely like that concept. I think that's a really unique way of chasing pups.

100% support! We desperately need some sort of pup sink in order to regulate the out of whack pup market here. And the simple thing is, no matter how many rare markings your wolves have, sometimes you just get duds in a litter and you can't keep them. And many would prefer that instead of chasing, a mechanic that allows you to get perhaps an amusement item (feathers or mollusk shells) or a small amount of SC (like 3-5 SC) would be a much better deal than having to yeet pups into a void. I also really like the lore around it, and it could really work for lore players to give their pups away to a new home instead of "leaving them to die."

Omg this is such a good idea! I love it - maybe there could even be a chance to take pups from her as well ,that other players gave her?

This is such a great idea! It's lovely, and I also think it's much better than chasing unwanted pups!

I support! I think it would be a nice new way for chasing pups before they become an adult or adols

Support. I leave it open for people to exchange cheap items for pups I sell, but no one ever does.
