August noticed the small pup pass out, She leap up, the gem flinging in the air as she got up, and rushed over, trying to be as gentle as possible to not scare the other.

The female's breathing became shallow, her eyes closed, and went fully limp. It wasn't clear that she needed water to breath, but the signs were there. The pup's gills started to close, and her pelt was unnaturally hot.

August placed a paw on the small thing, feeling the heat coming off of it. She dipped her paw into the water and splashed it onto her help, gently rubbing it in, trying to cool her off.
