Disease: are some good? (Ticks, fleas)

Posted 2020-11-09 14:01:28

... that is an amazing idea, I really should do it. Open wounds are a scourge.

Yeah, putting just the hunters in a separate cave and letting them all get fleas is perfect.  The dilemma is whether I should cure pregnant ones so the puppies don't have fleas, or would people prefer to buy puppies with fleas at this point... XD

@Quills: I will give you Pestilence at no cost once my hunting party is infected if you haven't snagged another flea bag before then.

I have two wolves in quarantine with fleas now and was just weighing pros/cons of letting it just go crazy in my den. I do think it could have a mood impact, which I saw someone else theorize too. Yesterday their moods were both tanked to 50-60% which was lower than the rest of my wolves. Then I made sure to fill their stats to 90-100%, and today one of them is at only 70% mood again. It would make sense tbh. Would be weird to not have *any* adverse effects, as a single 3 HP hit is negligible. I'll fill them both to 100% today and see if it's repeatable. Might be randomized, or worsen the longer the wolf has fleas?

There's also a visual effect to it, not very noticeable on mine with the default bg except over the haunches, but it does give a bit of a grungy feel that I suppose could bug (heh) some people, especially on pale wolves.

But, as someone else said, if it's really that unbalanced and doesn't just have hidden effects that the grouse house guide hadn't caught on to, I wouldn't count on it staying that way forever.

Oh, interesting! Yeah, let us know about the mood penalty - that could be pretty bad in the long term.

Also, apparently the open wound frequency has been decreased, so maybe this will be less of an issue now!

There’s definitely a mood penalty, the grouse house guide says “Sick wolves will lose double the usual mood loss on rollover for a total of 20% mood loss.”

Ohhh, all right.  It wasn't in the table of individual illness effects so I missed it. Welp, yeah, that makes this whole flea concept less useful.

Yeah, I had to reread the guide before I spotted it.

Oh, gotcha. I mostly noticed "depending on the illness" when I skimmed through and didn't realize there was an effect for all illnesses. Good to know!

I didnt see the mood loss either, good catch! I still think it may be worth it for hunters to have it as high risk wolves, but they should be kept seperate from pupsitters and puppies. Scouts im not planning to infect bc i havent had much trouble with mine but they could go either way.

Totally worth it to me for the hunting team. I am going to save so much time and herbs not having to focus my attention on OWS.
