Spring have arrived in Lyra Starseeds Pack. Even though there is still snow on the ground, flowers poke through it. Migrating birds have return to the tundra to nest and the herds treck through the frozen ground, looking for some fresh new plants to graze on. Two pups chased each other, their excited yelps can be heard. Asteroid had come back from her lesson with Fleet to find that her brother hadn't been sold yet. She was happy to have extra time with him. Abyss have been helping her with her speed. He was pretending to be a young caribou calf and Asteroid have to catch him. She burst forward and knock him down. He landed on his side with a hmph. "You are getting faster, Asteroid. Those lesson has definitely paid off." The brown and green puppy puffed up her chest with pride. "We are working on chasing and escaping. My next lesson will be bird watching, though. I don't know what that have to do with being a chaser." Asteroid lifted her head and her ears perked. "Our mother is talking with Queen Downburst. I wonder what they are talking about." Abyss followed her gaze. "Probably about me. Let's eavesdrop on them." Asteroid flick her tail in agreement. "We should be quiet though. Fleet told me that eavesdropping is rude and I don't want us to be in trouble." *She murmured. Abyss nodded and took the lead, quietly walking towards the two adult wolves. They both hid behind a boulder, ears pricked to hear what they were saying.* "We have a few more moons. If he doesn't get sold, he's going to the Enclave." *The queen whispered to their mother. "I had hope that wouldn't happen but we must do what we can for the pack." Solar murmured her ears drooping a little. "But what if he won't be adopted? Pups at 4 to 5 moons old will have a hard time being adopted. Most packs want younger pups." "The bear told me they eventually all be adopted, even to unknown packs. Don't worry, Solar. I'm sure Abyss will get a good home." Downburst whispered soothingly, resting her tail on her shoulder. The two pups feel that they heard enough and walk away from the two she-wolves. They then entered the nursery and lied down in their nest. "If I won't be sold, at least we still have more time before I leave for the enclave." Abyss barked cheerfully. Asteroid nodded in agreement as she shake the excess snow from her pelt. She heard pawsteps and look up to see Ariel carrying a piece of bovine meat. She dropped it in front of her paws. "Want to share with me?" Abyss had got up and left the nursery. Asteroid mouth watered from the aroma of the meat. She wagged her tail. "Sure! I'm starving!" She took a bite and chewed a mouthful of the savory meat. Ariel crouched beside her and digged in as well. Abyss return, carrying a weasel carcass. He sat on her other side and took a bite of his weasel. "You know, it's finally great to get away from my mother." *Ariel mumbled through a mouthful of beef. "She always have to have me train and I never have time for myself. Asteroid swallowed her mouthful before replying. "I feel the same way with Fleet. It's so exhausting. But it's worth it. We need the training to be able to be a good chaser." |

Asteroid nodded and watched her friend leave with her mother. Pawsteps walk up from behind her and she turn to see her Pupsitter, Fleet coming towards her. "It's time for your lesson too, Asteroid. We're going outside of camp for this." Asteroid got up and followed her Pupsitter outside the den. Fleet paused by the hoard and grabbed a bundle of nesting materials. The mottled gray wolf then led her outside of camp and into the frozen grasslands. Her ears perked in interest. She never been out of camp before. Her last lesson was inside of camp. Her Pupsitter pause and sat down. "First we need to tempt a bird. Grab some of the nesting material and lay it on the ground." *Fleet instructed. Asteroid nodded and grab a few dried herbs and a feather. She layed it on the ground. " Now we hide behind this boulder and we wait for a bird to come. When the bird come, I want you to try to pounce on it. Don't kill it." "Okay." *She whispered, hiding behind the boulder. "And if the nesting material dosent work after a few minutes, try using different materials. Each kind of bird have different preferences. The bird I want you to temp is a snow bunting." Fleet told her. Asteroid lied in wait, hoping for a bird to appear. After a few moments, she quietly went over to the nesting material and change a few things before she went back to her hiding spot. But after a few more moments, she was starting to get bored. Suddenly she heard a fluttering of wings and a little white and black bird landed on the ground. She look towards her Pupsitter who gave her a nod. She quietly walk towards the bird, hoping to not make a sound. She didn't look were she's going and brush against some blades of grass. The bird heard her and flew away. She tried chasing after the bird but it was now long gone. She huffed in disappointment. Fleet trotted towards her. "You did good but needs improvement. Do you know what it is?" "I need to look at my surrondment." *Asteroid told her. Fleet nodded in approval. "That's right. How about I give you a stalking lesson before we try again." A few lessons later, Asteroid was ready to try again. She went back to her hiding spot and watch for a bird. Another bunting appeared and she slowly walk towards it. She step over the blades of grass and walk closer. Once she was closer she pounced on the bird. The bird chirped in alarm as she look back at Fleet. "I did it!" Fleet wagged her tail. "You sure did. Now let it go." Asteroid got off the bird and watch as it flew away. It left behind a feather. " Now let's go back. It's getting pretty chilly out here." The brown and green puppy barked in agreement and picked up the feather. She trotted happily at her pupsitter's side. When she was back at camp, she saw her mother. She rushed over to her and showed her the feather. "Mother! I caught a bird! I let it go but I still have this feather!" Solar nuzzled her daughter. "I'm so proud of you. You will be a fine hunter." Abyss run up to her. "You caught a bird? You are amazing asteroid." "I did. Let's play with the feather and reenact it." *Asteroid told him. Abyss nodded in agreement and followed her. |

Asteroid followed Hydra back to the den with a sad expression. Downburst finally made the decision to put Abyss in the enclave. She was going to wait longer but his Pupsitter was ready to move to the mentor's den. Fleet has been task to watch one of Bee's newborn puppies and won't have the energy to train her, so she ask one of the mentors to train her. Hydra was a good teacher and was Lead Hunter before she decided to become a mentor. Asteroid learn a lot from her but she didn't erase the sadness of loosing her brother. Ariel was here, but her mother keeps training her and she never had time for her. Asteroid thinks the beryl colored she-wolf didn't like her. When she entered, the whole pack seems to be focus on something. Thunder, Downburst's son, was with his parents. His father, King Sokka spoke to him in a sob voice while Queen Downburst was grooming him. Hydra pricked her ears. "The pairbonding ceremony is happening already?" Asteroid pricked her ears. "Pairbonding ceremony? Between who?" Her mother, Solar trotted up to her. "Between Thunder and Lightning. The Queen and King has arranged for them to be pairbonded. Now, come on. Let's get you ready." She picked Asteroid by the scruff and carried her to the nursery. She set her down in her nest and began to groom her. "The ceremony won't start until every wolf return. A hunting party is still out as well as the scouts, Nebula, and her daughter. For right now we need to look our best selves." Asteroid relaxed and let her mother groom her. Solar crush some lavender and rubbed it on her. She then tuck some forget-me-nots along her tail. "There. All done. Now we wait on the others." She led her outside and made her sit beside her. The hunting party return, carrying a doe carcass. Downburst nodded in approval. The scouts then return. The pack is now waiting for Nebula and Ariel. |

Ariel and her mother had finally return. The pup was wearing a daisy crown. Once everyone was accounted for, Downburst climbed up to the ledge that's connected to her den. Thunder move to the front and sat underneath her. King Sokka climbed up and sat beside his mate. "It is time to unite two wolves, each will devoted to each other till death do them apart." Downburst began looking down at the pack. "It's also the next phase for one of Queen Lyra's descendents. Maybe one of their pups will be the next heir." She raise her tail to single the pack to part both sides. Lightning made her way through the crowd with her mother Ursa, guiding her. Asteroid eyes widened in wonder. She was beautiful, her tail is adorn with quail feathers and a promise crown rested elegantly on her head. The black she-wolf made her way to the front. The two future mates move until they were in front of each other. Queen Lyra's other descendents sat on each side of the pair, including Ariel. The onyx and red pup spotted Asteroid and wagged her tail at her. Asteroid wagged her tail back. "Thunder, will you take this wolf to be your lifelong mate and cherish her until the end of time?" Downburst asked. "I will." The green and black wolf said with a serious tone in his voice. Downburst nodded and turn to Lightning. "And Lightning, will you do the same." "I will." "Burdock, bring the herbs." The black and white healer walk over to them and gave the two future mate a bundle of herbs which is a mix of lavender and promise. "Thunder, Lightning. Eat these herbs. They help give you good vibes for the future." Both wolves lick up the herbs. "In the power of our ancestors and with Queen Lyra watching over us, I now pronounce you both officiallly pairbonded! Now touch noses." Thunder and Lightning bend closer to each other and touch noses. Downburst howled along with Sokka. The other wolves of the pack howled with them. Asteroid howled, feeling joy that she was able to do this with her pack. She wonder if she will get her own pairbond ceremony in the future and with who? |

Asteroid is now officially an apprentice. She trotted over to the rabbit burrows that makes the apprentices' den with a mouthful of nesting materials. Ariel look up from where she was sunning and walk up to her. "You can share a burrow with me." *She suggested. The young brown and green wolf nodded and followed her friend in a burrow. This burrow has enough room for two. Ariel's nest layed on one side. Asteroid laid her nesting material and started building her nest. Once she was finished, she laid down in it to test it out. Once satisfied, she got up and followed Ariel out side. Ariel laid back down and encouraged Asteroid to do the same. "Let's enjoy the summer while it last. It's the only time the tundra gets warm." Asteroid nodded in agreement and stretched, catching the warm sun. She laid down next to her friend. She is no small puppy anymore. She was surprised how much she growed. A hunting party returned. It was the Arcturian's, led by River. Columba followed with Chestnut at her side. Columba's mate, Cross followed along with Peary, Fleet's son. Last but not least, the party's finisher, Bee is in the rear, carrying a muskrat carcass. Asteroid look at Peary. The young male look almost like his mother, even have her eye color. Peary noticing her staring, look at her. Asteroid felt her heart skip a beat. She can't help but find him very handsome. She felt flustered from his staring and she look away feeling shy. Ariel giggled. "Someone has a crush." Asteroid playfully swat her friend. "Oh, hush. I do not have a crush." The onyx and red wolf rolled her eyes at her. She then look at her warmly with her blue eyes. "Well, it's a good thing. I'm not ready loose my best friend to a male." She whispered. Asteroid cocked her head at her. "What did you say?" Ariel quickly look away. "Nothing." Asteroid was about to ask her what's wrong when Columba walk up to them. "Asteroid. It's your turn to hunt with me. Come along." Asteroid got up and look back at Ariel. "I'm going hunting." The onyx and red wolf wagged at her friend. "Have fun. It's my turn next." Asteroid followed Columba to the rest of the hunting party. She felt someone brush up to her. She look up and saw Peary looking at her with a friendly expression. "It's nice that you are joining us. Maybe I will get to know you better." He murmured., his husky voice made her hitch her breath. The party head out. They decide to hunt in the Coniferous Forest. Asteroid heard that the pack lived there before moving to the tundra. A lot of the wolves were born there. |

The hunting party went on their way to the Coniferous Forest, crossing a river to get there. Asteroid hop across the stepping stones. She nearly slip but Peary caught her. "Be careful. Don't want you to be swept away." Asteroid look at the mottled gray male gratefully before landing on the shore. She look around at the forest with astonishment. She never seen so much trees in one place before, actually never seen a tree before. The tundra doesn't have trees. The trees were tall and full of needles. The moss below were soft on her paws. River sniff the air. "I smell two large animals and one critter trail. I think we have better luck on the critter." Columba took over and beacon Asteroid to walk beside her. Asteroid copied her, following the trail until she stopped. Up ahead was a merlin. The small falcon was perched on a tree stump preening It's feathers. River signal them to surround it. Bee quietly walk around the merlin until she's infont of it. Asteroid followed Columba until they were near it. River then signal them to chase it. Asteroid run with Columba towards the bird. The merlin spotted the wolves and let out shriek of alarm. It tried to fly away towards Asteroid. The young wolf lept towards it, making it fly towards Bee. The merlin turn and the mottled red-orange she-wolf lept and caught it in her jaws. With one shake, the merlin was dead. Bee dropped the bird's body. "That was a good jump, Asteroid. I would never had caught it if you didn't redirect it." She praised the young wolf. Asteroid felt her heart warm with pride. Peary also gave her an impressive expression. She was already on her way to become a great chaser. |

"I'm going hunting. I'll be right back!" *Ariel shouted to Asteroid who was sunning. She already hunted with her mother's team. They caught a woodcock and Asteroid was the one who flushed it towards Holly. The red and black wolf let her carry the bird back towards camp as a reward. She was shaping up to be a fine chaser. She look around camp and saw Queen Downburst climbing down the rocky outcrop. Her belly was swollen a little, a sign that she is expecting. Her mate trotted up to meet her and licked her behind an ear. "Be careful exploring, my love." Sokka told her. Downburst nuzzled him. "I'll be fine. I'm not going to battle any enemies when I'm out." She trotted off and left the camp. Feeling bored, Asteroid decided to meet the newborn puppies born to Thunder and Lightning. The black and brown she wolf became pregnant right after the pairbonding ceremony. She got up and trotted to the large abandoned burrow. She stuck her head in and look around. A bundle of green and black fur curled up around four newborn puppies. She climb in and quietly walk towards the family. Thunder narrowed his eyes at her with suspicion. It's obvious that he is very protective of his puppies, especially since his mate went off to hunt. Asteroid flattened her ears and lowered herself to show she means no harm. Thunder relaxed a little and let her see the puppies. Three of them were gray while one of them look exactly like her mother. She even has her blue stripes "They are very beautiful. What are their names." Asteroid asked. Thunder motion with his tail. "The three females are called Fireweed, Violet, and Strike. This is our son, Gravel. We are going to keep him and send our daughters to the Enclave." Asteroid look at little Gravel. She knew it will be hard on him to grow up without his littermates. She still miss Abyss, herself. Little pawsteps come up behind her. She recognized the gray and blue pelt of Absolute. She also saw another new face. Jaguar is the pack's newest member. The tawny and black puppy had came from another pack. Queen Downburst told the pack that she has big plans for him. "I just showed Jaguar around camp!" Absolute proudly announced to Asteroid. The brown and green wolf wagged her tail. "That's good, Absolute. It's a great way to help him adjust to the pack." |

Asteroid tread across the arctic plains, enjoying the nature. She paused and see that the sun is going down. She huffed in disappointment. She better get back so she can get enough sleep. She had to get up early to hunt. Suddenly, she caught a scent of something that remind her of metal. is that blood? she recognized that scent from hunting. But this blood scent smelled like wolf. Alarmed but also concerned she followed the scent. Maybe it's a stray wolf that was hurt. She must find it so she can report it to the Queen. When she got closer she stopped in shock, and then hid behind a boulder. What she saw, is what she want to unsee. Lying in a pool of blood was a pile of brown fur. She recognized Pine. Surrounded the male was Nebula, Yun and Storm Surge. Crux was on top of him, pinning him down. He howled something at Pine and in a flash, he sunk his fangs into his throat. Pine tried to struggle, so Crux bit harder. Blood poured from the wound in his throat. Asteroid could see the life fading from the wolf's bright blue eyes. With one twitch from his paws, he was still. Asteroid turn and ran until she was in camp. She skid to a stop and collapsed. Pawsteps rush over to her. "Asteroid! What's wrong?!" She heard her mother fretted. Solar began licking her cheek to comfort her. Asteroid shook her head, not wanting to to speak. Solar curled up around her daughter and continued to give her comforting licks. |

"Coyotes! Coyote attack!" Gray and cream fur rush in the camp. It was Crux's sister Scorpius. The senior Pupsitter was hyperventilating with fear in her gray eyes. Downburst popped her head out of her den and climb down. She quickly rush towards the terrified female. "Scorpius, calm down. Tell us what happen?" Scorpius took a deep breath. "Pine and I were on our walk, when they came out of nowhere! Pine told me to warn the pack before he rush in to fight them. That wolf is always impulsive, never once stop and think." Downburst raise her tail to stop her. "Show me." The blue-gray and cream wolf nodded and ran back out. Downburst ran after her along with Sokka,Wolverine, and his mate, Holly. Burdock followed behind with a bundle of herbs. Asteroid shakily got up and followed them until she saw them paused. She walk around them and saw Pine's torn body lying on the ground. But he wasn't the only one. Four mangled coyotes also surrond him. Wolverine let out a mournful whine and buried his face into his father's fur. Holly sat beside him and laid her tail across her mate's shoulder. Scorpius also pressed her nose to his fur but Asteroid didn't see any tears. Was she part of this? She saw the scars on her shoulder and ear. Is that the reason why Crux killed him. To protect her? Did Pine hurt Scorpius? Thoughts buzz around her head and she turn her gaze to Crux and his partners. She saw that Yun has a wound on his foreleg. "We heard the commotion and came to help. We killed the coyotes but we where too late." Crux explained. "He was very brave. Pine gave his life to save his mate. The ultimate sacrifice." Asteroid knew he was lying. She knew what he done. But she decided to stay quiet about it. |
