A Thoughtful Suggestion for Alternative Energy Restoration
A Thoughtful Suggestion for Alternative Energy Restoration
|
I appreciate all the effort that has gone into the game, and I wanted to share a suggestion regarding wolf energy refills. Currently, the only option for replenishing energy outside of natural regeneration is purchasing Guarana for 5GC in the Grove. I think it would be beneficial to introduce an alternative method, perhaps through the Herbalist.
For example, the Herbalist could research and craft a special medicine that restores a portion of energy, ranging from 5% to 40%. This process could take approximately 5 to 7 hours to balance the convenience of an alternative energy source with the time investment required.
I believe this would add more depth to the game while giving players another way to manage their wolf's energy. Thank you for considering this idea!

Not opposing nor supporting yet as I think I'd like to see a bit more discussion before I form a solid opinion, personally. But to be honest, what you're describing sounds like it would have a very similar level of impact and frequency of use that the bone marrow from raccoon wares already has. The only difference I imagine is that you could mass-make these medicines during downtime, so when it comes to needing energy boosts you're much less constricted than we currently are with bone marrow...
But overall, while yes guarana is the main and most impactful method of energy restoration, we do still have bone marrow as a less helpful but still relevant inclusion, or even smoldering effigies if we're feeling risky. (Pretty sure smoldering effigies can boost energy? I started playing last November mb)
(It's also easy for me, as someone who's basically always playing bc he has nothing else to do) to feel as though we gain enough energy as is, so definitely want to see some discussion over this)

Player makes a point. I tentatively support as I think it would add a bit more depth to the game, e.g. a player who goes several hours without playing could then be able to burn several energy bars so it's not a "revisit the game every hour or bleed GC for guarana". That said, limits are an absolute MUST, as we've seen what can happen when energy regen gets taken to its extreme, along with the absence of a daily max for leader stat bonuses.

personally, i support as long as it is regulated to one daily use, targeted to casual players, and if a few other tweaks were made to energy levels. not to compare this game to lioden more than it already is but i think it is worth mentioning that wolvden can use features from its sister site without becoming a clone— wolvden energy restores so fast that it encourages you to basically stay on the game and do nothing with very little reward. because energy regens so fast, i'm sure the explore encounters have been adjusted to give you less of everything (which actually makes explore less exciting) and you have to play every 1.5 hours to use up your energy which is ridiculous. if we had a higher/secondary daily energy boost like you suggested coupled with slower energy regeneration, it would mean players would be able to rollover and use all of their boosts, go on about their day, and check in like normal without feeling glued to the game. web-based games that bank on tearing your attention to it 24/7 are a bit doomed from the start & i believe that is only going to become a bigger issue here on wolvden, but my bad if i derailed a little bit LMAO
overall, in the current state of the game, i would hate to see this implemented; it would feel like a bandaid to a bigger problem & not a healthy choice, really. but if a few things changed beforehand, this would be perfect for casual players & lead-level grinders alike and i agree with @howlingfox — it would need limitations because the guarana grinding is already a bit out of hand.
