Fix time sensitive combo base breeding mechanic for stud requests

Fix time sensitive combo base breeding mechanic for stud requests

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had this tragic and frustrating experience...
In an effort to breed for Moonloss I send a stud request using my losna female to a moonlight male.  Unfortunately, after having spent the 3 GC on a sex changer, discovering to my dismay that the female was INFERTILE, then spending more SC for an item to make her fertile, the male's owner forgot to breed the pair at night because of the potentially high energy demand, thus voiding my chance at breeding a moonloss pup.

Fortunately the male's owner was gracious and did what they could to correct this mistake, but this brought it to my attention just how bad the nighttime breeding mechanic really is.  It clashes horribly with the nature of wolvden's breeding because, oftentimes, when someone is trying to breed for special pups they send stud requests, meaning that the owner of the future pups doesn't have control of exactly when the breeding happens.  Much more so because combo bases are sickeningly popular, and applicators and wolves who have the needed bases are very expensive, thus making the need to stud an outside male even more prominent.

Long story short, time-sensitive breeding needs to be fixed.  I can't think of a perfect solution at this point, but one idea have is that, when attempting to breed for anything sensitive to the time of day or season, etc, make sure the female's owner has control of the timing, and not the male's.  It could be that the opportunity is based on when the stud request is sent, rather than the time the wolves are bred.  Another option is to allow the female's owner to block any attempt to breed except at night, or whatever the time restriction may be.  Nonetheless, all I can say is that I'm sure many a breeder have been thwarted by this clashing and have been cheated out of the chance for extremely prestigious pups because of it.  Now being among those victims, I must now speak against it.  In game design, fairness and function should ALWAYS precede theme.  ALWAYS.

Being the owner of the said male stud I have to agree. It was completely my fault because I forgot to check the time (and it being summer when the night is the shortest) even though I otherwise always do, but even one accidental case of forgetfulness on the male's part can be quite expensive, time consuming and frustrating on the female's part who essentially just wasted one of their limited breeding attempts.

I don't know if that is possible to do but it would make breeding more stress-free if there was an option on the female's part to prevent other than nighttime breedings when sending the request like Howling Fox suggested. Or any other kind of safeguard to be honest. I know breeding is supposed to be a gamble anyway and a combo base is not guaranteed even when doing everything right, but at least it would help imo.
