ˋ a lone feather may drift aimlessly in the wind, but in a flock, wings beat as one, and the sky itself bends to their will. no bird flies forever alone--not by choice. strength is not in the sharpness of talons, but in the harmony of many wings rising together. a warrior who stands apart may be swift, but a clan that moves as one will never fall. ´

avesclan territory stretches across a sprawling mountain range, where towering pines and ancient spruces form a dense, shadowy canopy. the air is crisp and carries the ever-present scent of resin and damp earth, while the wind whistles through the trees like the calls of distant birds. jagged cliffs and rocky outcrops break through the forest, offering breathtaking views of the valleys below and creating natural perches for watchful warriors. narrow, winding trails snake through the underbrush, worn smooth by generations of padded paws. the forest floor is thick with ferns, moss-covered boulders, and tangled roots, making it both a challenge to navigate and the perfect place for stealthy hunters. prey is plentiful, with squirrels, voles, and mountain hares darting between the trees, while high above, flocks of ravens, hawks, and songbirds weave through the sky. despite the terrain's harshness, avesclan thrives in this wild, untamed land. their hunting skills are unmatched, moving like shadows through the undergrowth or launching themselves into the treetops to strike with swift precision. the clan's connection to birds is evident in the way they live-high, watchful, and untethered to the lowland dangers of the world below.
the rookery
nestled within the protective embrace of an ancient, fallen spruce, the rookery, serves as the heart of avesclan territory. the towering roots of the tree, long since hardened into twisting spires, create a natural fortress against the elements and outside threats. over time, brambles, ferns, and woven pine boughs have further reinforced the camp, making it nearly invisible from the outside eye.
the aerie: high within the hollowed-out trunk of the fallen spruce, a large natural cavity forms the aerie, the leader's den. a small tunnel, smoothed by generations of paws, leads upward into the space, which is lined with soft owl feathers and warm moss.
the raptor perch: a thick, strong branch extending outward from the den's entrance. from here, the leader addresses the clan, their silhouette framed against the open sky like a great bird of prey.
the falconry: carved into the knotted base of the fallen spruce, the falconry is a sheltered, cozy den just beneath the leader's. wide enough for strategic meetings, it is covered in woven pine branches and dried leaves, offering warmth and protection.
the lark burrow: tucked deep beneath the roots of a sturdy fir tree, the lark's burrow is a cool, spacious den with several natural hollows for herb storage. a small stream from the song creek trickles past the entrance, allowing easy access to fresh water. bioluminescent fungi glow faintly in the dim light, illuminating the space at night.
the swift's nest: a tiny, private hollow in the back where the medicine cat and their apprentice rest. the walls are lined with soft goose down and fragrant herbs.
the roost: set within a sunlit dip in the ground, the roost is encircled by dense ferns and protected from the wind by an overhanging bramble thicket. the den's entrance is carefully woven with feathers and vines, creating a warm and comfortable retreat for the clan's oldest members.
the hollow: positioned near the camp entrance, the hollow is an open, well-ventilated den built from tightly woven pine boughs. patrollers, who spend the most time outside the territory's edges, rest here, ready to leap into action at a moment's notice.
the starling nest: tucked beneath a cluster of boulders near the edge of camp, the starling nest is a warm, sheltered den lined with shed bird feathers. a hidden tunnel allows hunters to slip in and out undetected, perfect for early-morning hunting parties.
the watch: positioned at the highest point in camp, the watch is a raised, bramble-woven structure that offers a clear view of the surrounding forest. guarders, the protectors of the camp, rest here, always alert and ready to defend.
the branches: nestled in a shallow dugout beneath the spruces's roots, the branches is where young apprentices sleep close together like a clutch of young birds. pine needles and feathers line the den, making it both soft and well-insulated.
the nesting grounds: located in the most well-guarded part of the camp, the nesting grounds is a warm, hollowed-out space beneath an old pine, its entrance thickly woven with protective brambles. a small, trickling stream runs nearby, making it easy for queens to fetch water for their kits.

landmarks
skycall cliffs - rising high above the forest, skycall cliffs are a rocky, wind-battered outcrop where warriors train apprentices in agility and fearlessness. here, the young learn to leap between ledges, balance along narrow paths, and read the air like a bird in flight. here you can find the hawk's crest, a sheer rock face where skilled climbers challenge themselves to ascend like hunting hawks, the windwing bridge, a natural stone arch spanning a deep ravine, demanding careful steps and unwavering balance, and the kestrel ring, a wide, flat clearing atop the cliffs, where battle training takes place, named for the kestrels that hover above, watching with sharp eyes.
song creek - a meandering, whispering stream that winds through avesclan territory. its crystal-clear waters glisten in the sunlight, an the calls of terns and warblers give the creek its name. here you can find the sun pools, a cluster of shallow, pebble-lined pools where young apprentices often play and learn to fish, and the egret's bend, a graceful curve in the creek, where snowy egrets sometimes wade, mirroring the clan's own fluid hunting style.
osprey's vein - a powerful, rushing river that cuts through the mountains like a silver ribbon. its currents are dangerous, but its waters teem with fish, drawing ospreys and herons to its banks. here you can find the crossing, which is a fallen pine, sturdy and slick with moss, acting as a natural bridge, and the harrier stones, a cluster of jagged rocks in mid-river, used by the bravest warriors to fish, which is named after the harriers that skim over the water's surface.
bittern mire - a mist shrouded wetland hidden in the lowest valley of avesclan territory. the air hums with the croak of frogs, and fireflies flicker like tiny stars above the murky pools. the bog is rich with medicinal herbs but treacherous underpaw. here you can find the moon pools, dark, stagnant waters that never seem to dry, reflecting the sky like pools of ink. nightjars are said to haunt these waters, their eerie calls drifting through the mist. you can also find the dead tree, which is a lone, dead tree at the heart of the bog, where great blue herons perch in eerie silence.
