Being able to cancel a biome quest

Being able to cancel a biome quest
Posted 2020-11-16 23:01:50 (edited)

Hi devs!

I've also noticed theres no active way to cancel a biome move quest. I changed my mind after taking the quest, and it took several days for the quest to simply expire.

My suggestion is to have an active way to cancel a move biome quest that you might be in the middle of. Maybe it could have a cooldown so you have to wait 1 rollover before being able to cancel? Either way it's better then waiting for the aforementioned quest to simply expire after several days.

Please. Please. Please.
This would be very helpful.

^ full support!

this is definitely a lesser priority though, since there's no notification or alert to bother you about it unless you scroll down the quests and it only lasts a specific time period, so will go away when uncompleted.

but, also, someone who does not want to go through with it after having toggled it on may accidentally complete it without awareness - after all, again, there is no alert unless you look for it.

I definitely support! Not being able to cancel the quest is really inconvenient, especially because 1) there is no extra confirmation step when taking a move quest, so it's pretty easy to accidentally choose the wrong biome, and 2) you can't take a new one until the old one expires.

I move my pack seasonally to balance hunting success and XP gains, and there have been a few times where I've accidentally selected the wrong biome and had to wait the full 5 days for the quest to expire so I could move to the right one. Luckily I've only made that mistake during the spring move - but a misclick in the fall could leave my pack stranded in a difficult biome for the winter, which would be a disaster. I would probably have to stop rolling over until spring to avoid starvation.

Currently I play it safe by taking the move quests really early so there's a 1-2 day buffer, but this strategy isn't ideal for a lot of reasons - it usually means I have to move earlier than I actually need to (so I lose out on potential XP gains), and if I mess up the timing, the quest might expire and I'm back to square one. Plus, if I do mess up, the buffer only works if I actually have the time (and luck) to find and fight 12+ wolves in a single day, or the GC to fast complete the quest.

So the option to cancel the quest would be super helpful for me (and presumably for other players who move seasonally).

Also, as a sidenote, I don't think a cooldown should even be necessary - there's no cooldown for actually moving your pack (iirc you can take a new quest immediately after you move), so why should there be one for cancelling? I don't really see how it could be exploited, since you don't gain anything by not moving your pack.

This is a pretty old thread, but I'm bumping it now as I've wanted this for a bit!
