"Additionally, we have made another change: the game will now silently begin recording whether the wolf you found in explore was chased or not, after the befriending screen. If the wolf itself was a chased wolf, it will not enter the pool to be found again if chased again. This will only apply to new chased wolves found after this news post kicks in."

Posted on 2021-04-20, and my wolf in question was created on 17th or 14th if I recall correctly!

Wait I'm confused? Why does the age of the wolf matter? I'm probably missing something, but if it's determined in the befriending screen, and it was befriended after the update (which has been in place for a while), what's different about this wolf?

This wolf WAS already a chased when I got her. However, because she was befriended prior to the update, she wasn't internally tagged as "chased" (since that variable didn't exist yet). So, when I chased her today, she made it in the chased pool. Since I chased her after the mentioned update, she is now tagged as a "chased" wolf. If I were to chase her once again, she'd be instantly deleted.

After days of no purple stars (it's tradition for my lead's to go out with a whimper when it comes to chased wolves) my new lead Haides just caught his first chased in the mountains (dang re-scouting).
Pic is profile link. 4M Black Female Yearling with a pretty nice stat roll. I'll need to move her quick so she'll be up on the TC after her cool down. Chaser is welcome to message me with proof of chase if they'd like to bring her home. As always - thanks for Chasing!
