Chased Wolf Spotting!!!

I wish other people appreciated T1s and T2s more though. I have lots, because I enjoy looking at them and breeding pups with lots of markings. I get the feeling though. It can be hard to focus only on breeding what makes YOU happy, because it can sure feel like others really aren't interested at times. I'll admit, it is nice to sell pups and have them become treasured wolves in someone else's pack. :) |

It's a mixture of luck, the right connections, constant grinding, and frequent guarana use. With that kind of combo, you can do anything lol. I'm okay with the way things have gone for me, but I have to admit, don't really like the feeling of being left behind a lot. If I'm feeling that, I can't imagine the players that are casual/can't play a lot. (Though I'm sure some don't mind and do their own thing.) It can be hard to focus on what makes you happy when a lot of the time, you need income to fund what makes you happy, which means buying into what everyone else wants. |

I've been here since Day 1 of Public Access, never missed a single rollover. I've seen how the market fluctuates to the consumer and how everything just skyrockets in value when the right amount of fluid is lit by a fire. My first few weeks were like anyone else's and... we never really had or knew of any special, rare based kinds of things. Heck, if I recall correctly, T2s, 'raffle' marks like merle, and so much more wasn't introduced to me until maybe a month after I joined. I was more of a food seller who did it for 2 SC per use just to get some spare change while selling in bulk and... I kinda miss those days. Having to not let you or another player go bankrupt just to feed a pixel wolf they love and genuinely care about. Wolves I wasn't keen on selling, but instead, I ran an adoption center thread (now closed due to the introduction of the Enclave) to kinda give that helpful boost for players who just wanted pretty wolves and didn't pay much mind to stats, lineages, or what rare marks the pup/adolescent sported. My mind just wants WD to go back to the days of peaceful trades, affordable outcomes to satisfy the F2P players here, and still be able to positively reward the P2W players by helping the site economically flourish. Sadly, I know this is all but a fable, but anything and everything now is just... so hard to sell. And even if you wanted to sell something, it either had to: A) Be overpriced to match the current market in hopes for competitive offers; or B) Be underpriced to only have it bought out, and transitioned to an overpriced setting where the reseller tries to make profit (ex. can be the SC to GC trades). I may sound like a nagging baby, but my god if you love what you do on this site, be it hoarding some pretty wolves for the hell of it, breeding to match the markets, or to just exist here and vibe in a lowkey environment, you do you. But if it starts to affect how newer players and even veterans of WD want to enjoy their current playing experience just to follow a bandwagon of "Who Can Be The Biggest Dragon on the Treasure Pile?", then I'd hate to say it, but it... almost makes me want to miss out on events, player activity, and just overall site satisfaction. I genuinely love this site, but if this is the turnout of WD, given the current trends of low gens and all that are from other sites (like WD'S sister site in some cases), then my interest might be gone before the 1 year anniversary of Public Access being opened. |

I wish more people liked their wolves as is, I know it's something I'm working on myself. x) @Kim Everything you said makes sense, and I completely understand the burnout/frustration. I hate seeing pet sites devolve into popularity contests/only the rich win. I really wish there was some way to even things out, but I'd have no clue where to start because, well, it's the players who made it this way (obviously not everyone of course). I would def love to see more events/contests/community here. I've been on about a month and it's really just what I needed after some hard times irl! But there's not much to do so far except spend my (mostly real) money, because part of me does feel left behind without "perfect" wolves. I played on Neo for a decade, and other pet sites since, and they had the same problems. |

Agreed with pretty much everything you said. I was back around PA too and it was so peaceful. There were EA players already knowing what they were doing and had spent who knows how much GC getting the first merles, (RIP their poor wallets,) and they tended to have a headstart, but it wasn't even close to how it is now. It was much more chill overall back then, and now it's much more insane with prices and NIB concerns. "Who can get the new shiny first!?!" is the motto for the market right now, both for studding and trading. I wish I knew how it got from there to here, and I hope it can go back to there. (While still keeping what's good about the game currently.) @Trolljan I've definitely seen that argument a lot in the Game Development in particular. It makes me wince every time. Reminds me too much of real life, that's all I'll say about that. >_> And oh my god, yeah, the rate for GC-SC back in the day, man. I really hope the SC-GC rate doesn't go up any higher, SC is so hard to get as is. I mean, it's going to go up, I know that. I just wish it wouldn't. |
