Chased Wolf Spotting!!!

Posted 2021-08-31 07:42:20
This Denim boi survived the pool!!!
Maybe an age reroll since he's not super young, but he has an invisible merle.

Had to autoclaim because I messed up the first move, so he will be up on TC after cooldownfor the autoclaim price.

AFTER 3 WEEKS, what a trash!

Isnt possible that Ive found only 6 chased since I started playing wd and 3 of them were rechased, couldnt this hole rechased nbw thing end?? Its SO unfair, while people find T3, special base, hetero eyed nbw.. Dont even tell me its a matter of "lucky". Chasing nbw should delete them and thats it, Im pissed.

@Zαɱρα - Wolves can only be chased once. If a chased wolf is chased again it is immediately deleted. This change was made a few months ago. ;D

I think what Zampa is trying to say is that a first-time claimed NBW should be deleted when chased, and not make it into the chase pool at all. Deletion only happens if a once-chased wolf is then chased again.

@Zampa  Sorry for your bad luck, it really sucks. I don't want to stir the pot/start conspiracies but I do wonder if RNG is random for each account, not each encounter. I see a pattern in my own encounters, and a pattern of similar wolves (both for chased and regular NBW). I don't think staff would purposely set people up with better or worse luck, but there's only so much "random" you can actually get from programming RNG.

And I can't tell if some people are more lucky, or just explore nonstop to find what they do lol. I'm not mad, just curious when the luck rolls will..., well, reroll.

Not gonna say too much more bc I don't want to get yelled at for being off topic, so if it it becomes a thing remember there's the chased wolf chat thread also. p:

@Wildtale  I think they're referring to rechased computer-generated NBWs, which I agree, are kind of annoying. I think the idea was originally that players would customize some markings and if they were rechased, would allow beginner players to add those wolves to their early packs.

EDIT @Jassy  Oh yeah, I'm gritting my teeth trying to not rage; I should probably keep a record but I'm lucky if I see one (usually rechased) chased a week, and maybe a 1-star rarity every other day. The rest? Regular NBW. Would be really cool if finding those would go down as your lead leveled up or something. Only thing they're good for is grind-fighting when moving biomes.

You said it better than I could Alex!

I'm also highly annoyed at RNG right now myself, my last chased wolf spotting was August 16th. I went back and checked my logs. I encounter about five wolves every energy burn (which I'm not complaining about at all) but they've ALL been generated NBWs for the past two weeks lol. I just come here to drool now.

I keep a log of the wolves I encounter (by batches of 100 so it's easier to see if the proportions change), and I find it helps with the frustration :D Plus then I hand it over to the NBW encounters chance thread, so we have a better idea of which percentage of wolves is chased. I actually thought I had much worse luck than this before writing it down.
(I'm a lv20, so in theory with the highest chased chance)
- Current batch (from 16 august) is 90 NBW, 20 starred and 2 chased (one was a T1 with 6 normal markings, that I kept because I'm sentimental with NBWs I found myself, even if they're objectively not that good, and one I failed to befriend)
- last batch (1 to 16 august) I had 100 NBW, 25 starred, and 7 chased (5 of which were rechased)
- and the one before that (21 july to 01 august) was 100 NBW, 22 starred and 4 chased (I didn't write down how many were rechased, but probably at least half).
Maybe some people have better luck than others (I never met a T3 nor a het, for example), but I also think since we usually don't bother showing the rechased it feels like other people don't see any, while they just don't talk about it.
Also I have a lot of NBWs (basically my whole den :D) that I each bought for less than 500SC: since wolves aren't that valuable overall, even NBW (except for T3s, specials and hets), most end up buyable.

RNG might very possibly be skewed, but I think our perception of it is accentuated by not writing stuff down (also I don't think the system that hands out chased knows what is a rechased and what is a T3? Like, why would they ever need to know? Unless it's like the Cool wolves producing more T3s, which is also counter-intuitive).

@Jassy is exactly this, sorry to bother you all with this mad comment and not even in the right topic of it :/

@Alex oh I wasn't mentioning RNG or individual "luck", the developers wouldn't do something unfair purposely. Is just no luck at all on getting a common nbw when the encounter should give us all, at least, a special nbw.

@Fal, thats it! You said at all what I meant: No one wins ANYTHING keeping common nbw/game generated nbw going into the chased pool, cause a lot of people r&c great wolves. I dont think also that the system knows much, but the fact is still there. Ill read this topic cause Im not sure if I have done yet, and search more about the wd mechanisms before creating more discussions or opening another topic to talk about it...

Oh, there's no deep analysis, it's just people logging data (for now).
There may already be a Game Dev topic somewhere about a separate button to chase a wolf definitely on the first try.

@Fal  Thanks for the link to that thread! I think I'll start keeping a record too; hopefully tomorrow so I can get the entire month. I might break it down to weeks too since I think I've noticed a difference in general encounters every few days, at least for my luck roll.
