Lower GC increase on immortal wolf slots

Posted 2022-06-10 19:22:28
Would the players that have already purchased the slots get compensated for the price adjust? Because I feel like they should if there were to be a price decrease.

I agree with Amnesia, players who have brought slots should be compensated. I believe that a freebie immortal slot would be beneficial, but for players who have purchased those slots I believe they deserve to have something that make their touble worth while. Perhaps refunding half of the GC they used buying the slots?

I.e one person paid for two slots, they'd get 10 GC in return

I get Wolvden is supposed to be "different" than lioden, but as Bumbleberry pointed out, the LD immortal slots only cost significantly less.

Why is it such a huge price hike on WD?

Support. If they're worried about losing GC purchases, doesn't it make sense this would actually increase GC because it would make more sense to buy CD? I have enough to immortalize 2 but after that the price increase might be too silly to justify.

Support, as someone who has poured... More time than I'd care to share into this game, I would love slightly cheaper slots.

As for potential lost revenue, I know I personally hesitate buying expensive decor for wolves that may die as it's a bit of a waste if it's personalized and such, so I spend far more decorating my immortals with CD as it's permanent.
I agree that it shouldn't be super easy to immortalize wolves, but factoring in jellyfish and how hard it is to get gc levels it out imo, and a slightly cheaper immortal slot may even be more incentive to newer players to participate more in the TC or in grove.

Support!

When this post first came out, I didn't have a strong opinion. But now that I have 4 immortal slots... Yeah, I can see the issue with the pricing.

I've only used one so far and have two prepared for wolves when they're near their deathbed, but I don't know if I'm ever going to get any more. They're so damn expensive and I can't really understand why. My next one is 50 GC - that sounds like it should be the maximum, not the 5th slot.

Don't get me wrong, they should absolutely cost a lot. Immortal slots are clearly an end-game kind of thing, something to consider when you've maxed out just about everything else. It's a good sink, genuinely. But it can be a good sink with reasonable pricing. Say, a 5 GC increase for the first 9 slots, then maxing out there at 50? Or a 5 GC increase for the first 5 slots and lowering to a 2 increase for all slots afterwards, possibly with a similar maximum? Those numbers would be sufficient, not a whopping 10 each time. Jellyfish eat up GC too, it's not just the slots. Shouldn't those massive numbers be good enough?

The fact that I can't keep more immortal wolves due to the price is actively stopping me from caring about 99.9% of my wolves. The only one I care about is the one that's my profile picture - and the two others I'll be immortalizing. These are the wolves that have lore, ones I consider dressing up and getting art for. The rest of my wolves? Eh. When they die, they'll go off to a side tab that I'll never look at. They'll never feel like a part of my pack again and you can't even see their images in the dynasty overview, so I would have to click on them individually to even remember what they looked like. Meanwhile, my immortal wolf is at the top of my den, because I'm proud of him. And I can show that by having him right in the open. I can't do that with dead wolves, I hardly acknowledge them as it is. It's not worth putting effort into them when they can't be treasured the way immortals can.

There's a nice addition of 'reviving' dead wolves with Jellyfish, but that doesn't change that I don't care to get the slots in the first place. If I don't really care to get more wolves because it feels like they die and are thrown to the wayside in no time at all, that makes me less willing to do anything that involves wolves. If the slots were priced reasonably, (like 30 GC instead of my current 50) I would absolutely buy more. Hence, spend more GC in the long run because I actually have interest in purchasing them and keeping more wolves. Keeping more wolves that I will then spend extra GC on.

Though I'd like to point out that I can't speak for everyone. If that wasn't already clear lol.

I want to pitch in my two cents. I purchased an immortal slot because I got a brachy I wanted to sell at the time. After that, I realized that the next slot was 20 gc - I was shocked and turned off. Spend that money on an immortal slot or to get 1-4 GREAT wolves? 10gc increase per slot blows my mind. I refuse to even get a second slot and I hold alot of sentimental value in my wolves. I have noticed that this game currently revolves around money - VERY few people go for items, and cones are always chosen over items now. I have nothing against players who pay to play, but having to pay for a useless still image of a function-less "pixel wolf" is absurd. Gc in dynasty, gc in immortal slots, gc for decors, gc for jellyfish, thats just so much gc needed everywhere as it is....
My suggestion: I think 10 gc PER slot is fair. (maybe with 2-5 gc increase - fine) BUT you can ONLY expand up to 10 immortal slots. You can't go bonkers with immortalizing your 200 size pack. Maybe not having a limit is the devs tactic to gather more money, I dont know But I dont think this "functionless" place is a good place to put that steep tactic in.

In Lioden, it is MUCH cheaper to buy a jelly fish and a immortal slot, I know Wolvden is supposed to be different but it is a HUGE jump. At Lioden, a jelly fish is 5 GB and a slot is around 5 GB and raised every 5 GB, but here its raised every 10 GC?! its ubsurd

Iirc, in Lioden a GB is approximately 0.50 USD. Here a GC is approximately 0.25 USD. 5 GB is the same value as 10 GC. From my understanding, the two websites are similar in how they treat immortals.
In my opinion, immortal slots are fine as is.  The cost acts as a necessary GC sink and keeps immortal wolves rare and makes them special.
