Seriously on the edge of my seat here.  There's so many pretty ones! ♥

Gosh. OK. I think I'm ready. This was so hard, folks. So hard!  Thank you to all the people who participated - everyone is so talented! It made choosing a much bigger challenge than I expected. Honestly a round of applause for all the entries. So good!

First I want to talk about the honorable mentions - wolves that made it into my Top Ten, and are really a big part of the reason why this took so long, because choosing between them was almost impossible. In no particular order, they are:

This design by Blue Pigeon, this wolf could have walked right out of a nature show, and look at those gorgeous eyes! Blue Pigeon

This design by Hunter [HM] - that is what I call a face! It looks like someone did calligraphy on this wolf, I can’t get over it, still can’t figure out what makes it look this way but it’s amazing! By Hunter [HM]

This design by Kacey. Dark and yet also soft. Superb! I stared at this one for a long time! By Kacey

This design by Kosachmur checks every single box I had. I was tempted to go buy another wolf just to be able to use this design! So pretty!

Woolydaisy made a monochrome that’s just so interesting and unique every time I look at it, I find something new I like! by Woolydaisy

This soft, colorful, interesting blend by Noon. Honestly every wolf in my pack could look like this and I wouldn’t be sad about it, lol! By Noon

And now on to the final three!

In third place, Comrade Vektor’s pseudo-foxy design really has me jonesing for more warm tones in my monochromes! Love the ticking on the back, the shading down the legs and the way the eyes and cheekbones are highlighted so nicely. In fact, I really want to use this design on another wolf - Comrade Vektor, I would like to award you 10 GC as a runner-up prize, and would it be OK with you if I used this design on another wolf in my pack? Look at this beauty

In second place, this absolute stunner by Kas, it stays true to the Acanthite base but jazzes things up and gives it some depth while layering in a bunch of combo markings I really love. I don’t know honestly why I don’t just always go to Kas and ask for input when I want a wolf design, it seems like everything she makes I adore. I also really want to use this design on another wolf - Kas, same as above, I would like to also award you 10 GC as a runner-up prize, and would it be OK with you if I used this design on another wolf in my pack? I have another Acanthite to customize lol I must have this wolf

And (drum roll please) the winner: this submission from Daisy, which stole my heart the minute I looked into those soft brown eyes, look how beautifully they pick up on the warm tones used in the wolf’s body, this creature is a dream. I looked at this design across multiple bases of potential offspring and each one seemed more beautiful than the last (you should see this design on Auburn, omg). I had been considering if I could change the eyes to white to use in trying to breed hetero eyes, but then I remembered that hetero brown & blue exists! Thank you Daisy! Your 25 GC grand prize is on the way! I can’t wait to see this handsome face every day and all the beautiful pups he will have in his lifetime! Oh god now he needs a name oh no lol

There were a lot of amazing designs (some of which I may be taking inspiration from in the future, so many different ways of combining markings to create cool effects!). Congrats to the winners, and I have to say that the first place wolf really looks like the sort of wolf you could feasibly come across (if more vibrant).

Happy that my design got noticed and put alongside the other great wolf designs. Well done to everyone!
