pronoun changes?

should more game changing features and bug fixes be prioritized over little things like this? absolutely. but that doesn't mean, unless staff specifically says otherwise, that we can't balance adding little lore driven things like this, if it's doable codewise, with more important updates. |

I would like to say that I am in favor of this idea. Being someone who is non-binary that strictly use They/them Pronouns it would be pretty nice to see at least for personal (for those who like to make wolves based off them as their lead) and lore Purposes. I also think it'll be a nice feature that'll make trans/gender-noncomforming people feel more welcomed within the Wolvden Community as well since there is representation! Also, I loved all the mock ups I saw of how the pronouns feature can be implemented along with changing the flavor notes to the wolf's correct pronouns when they are done scouting, hunting, etc. |

Is it an essential addition? No. Are herbalists, events, funky fur colours, custom decor, or shops in any way essential? Also no. The game could function just fine if each of us raised our pack without these things but they help enrich the game and make it more fun for others to play. I'm queergender, I use they/them pronouns, and I see no reason why my wolves can't do the same. Some, like Gerber, get a gendered name to help show they're trans because they're binary. I can't do that with enby/queer/agender/fluid wolves because they either sit outside the binary or go back and forth. We have talking snakes and bears that give out quests, a raccoon that runs a store that sells critters, plants, and environments, we have sex changers and marking applicators, herbalists, a hierarchical structure in what are supposedly wild wolves, all manner of weird outfits from what is evidently a hidden textile industry, and more. Realism left the conversation a long time ago. :D It's a fun addition and I'd very much like to see it implemented in some fashion. |

I understand a lot of people are for this and I understand why but I personally feel like this would be a bit of a useless feature (No offense!) and pronouns can already be added in the footnote or the bio of a wolf so I don't see why this would need to be added. Maybe instead it could be added to people's profile page? similar to how instagram and twitter has done it? (Though here too you can just add it to your bio/front page..) |

I'm really sorry if this reads as a major over reaction but I have noticed a trend where when anything involving LGBTQ titles or anything similiarly cosmetic to that get's suggested on sites, one example being the sister site, there's always people jumping to no supporting because it's unneceseary for them, or go the extra length of accusing people for being little bitches because since it's unimportant to them, it must be unimportant to everyone else. And I, I have just lost my patience with this kind of thing, so please excuse me being a bit harsher in phrasing. Oh do tell, why should this game not cater to the LGBTQ people? Why shouldn't it cater to me as just as it caters to you? You don't care about a merchant selling painted rocks if that doesn't intrest you, unless you have a personal problem against the people wanting to sell or buy painted rocks. It literally doesn't affect you the slightest, it's not like you are forced to buy these painted rocks- the suggestion for it to be a store for them shouldn't bother you this much. Arguably, a suggestion for there being an aisle for painted rocks takes more effort to build than an editeable value in a web game. So let me provoke you a little bit- does our existence and intrests in open public spaces such as a web game designed for everyone, perhaps happen to bother you? You know it's intresting, people with natural inheritanle flashy all shades of the colourwheel hair and wolf packs with more members than the main breeding pair don't exist in real life, but queer people do. Yet when we anthromporphize them, the latter two is deemed more realistic than a wolf that is gay or uses they/them to be reffered as. Funny how that is, isn't it? Some silly little pronouns won't delay your awaited new content, I promise. |

It is a very small feature that would likely be really easy to implement, and in-game, this would ONLY effect the flavor text for the wolf (ex: "his energy restoration is paused", the pronouns in these messages can be changed depending on the wolf's settings, just like how currently, the wolf's pronouns are set depending on the wolf's biological sex). It could be easily put in the wolves settings, there could be a drop down menu of a handful of more common pronouns (He/Him, She/Her, He/She, They/Them, It/Its, Zie/Hir) or potentially have a way to set customized ones, like what has been already suggested in this thread. This feature is also optional, and would not effect people who do not want to use this feature. To be honest, though, an incredibly easy way to avoid this all together is to remove gendered game notifications (ex: Rather than "his energy restoration is paused", it could be "this wolf's energy restoration is paused"), that way you don't have to have pronoun options for game dialogue, and you can easily set your own personalized pronouns for all of your wolves for yourself and other players to use when talking about them. Plus, not to be ""sensitive"", there is a lot of homophobia and transphobia in this thread, and it is intensely upsetting and hurtful to see people allowed to say bigoted things on this website with no repercussions from staff at all. This makes me feel very unsafe as an LGBTQ+ person, and I would much prefer that bigotry like that not be allowed on this website. |

Wolvden has a large roleplaying and lore community, that much is obvious. It also has a large LGBTQ+ community. I think it's safe to say that a good portion of those player would LOVE this. I would love this, and I don't roleplay or have any lore for my pack! The mockups I've seen look awesome and very subtle, so it's easy to ignore for players who don't want to see it. Sorting by sex will also eliminate the arguments about studding being changes or difficult, or TC being confusing. I agree with the person who posted above me when they said that they feel a little unsafe as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Of course, not all "no support" messages were inherently transphobic or homophobic, but some people seem to feel so negatively about this potential (small) pop up change that it's genuinely upsetting to me. It's a game. An unrealistic game that, yes, is focused around breeding, but also has so many other aspects. The Wolvden community is home to so many strange, interesting, and wonderful players with blue wolves and purples wolves and magic and wonder. I hope this gets added, but I also hope that some people will try and understand that it would make a lot of people feel seen. |

This feature seems like it'd be nice to have for those who'd like to use it, such as myself likely. I do turn some of my wolves into proper characters, such as Mono who's non-binary (they passes away a little while ago). It's been mentioned that this would be for personal use, but maybe there could be another toggle for the pronouns to be viewed publicly ? Either by the person who runs the pack or an outside viewer, so that those who don't want to interact with it don't have to. Stops them from getting into a tizzy. Also I've seen a lot of the 'no support' people saying the same/similar things. "This is unnecessary and confusing", "wolves don't have sexualities or genders" or "this is too political for a wolf game". Clown fish become male when stressed, male seashores give birth to their young, there's all matter of creatures who reproduce asexually as well. Living being are complex and fascinating, not just in regards to cultures and self-expression but also biologically. Saying it's unrealistic is a weak excuse. There's nothing political about this. This reminds me of another thread about a feature to help those with chronic illness to play the game; Just because it doesn't matter to you, doesn't mean the same for others. I'm not the best with words so I hope I got my thoughts across all right. |
