So I found out that when you change pack leader you lose most or all of your explore process, which in my opinion makes the scouting mechanic obsolete. It's odd that it's tied to your lead wolf and not the scout. Like realistically if you had a new leader your scout would not magically forget everywhere they'd been. It sounds so far that you're only scouting to find somewhere new to live, after which it kind of doesn't matter. Is it a weird way of trying to replicate the levelled biomes in lioden? Do you get to stay in the new biome you move to or do you get moved back to the starting biomes when you replace? I'm just confused. |

If you made your home in one of the latter biomes does it put you back into one of the default 3? |

@Sol that's what I'd like to know. It shouldn't really, because that wouldn't make sense for a pack to leave a home because they replaced the leader. |

That is odd, I figured that scouting would be an account bound thing. |

@Sol, no if you make your home somewhere else you'll just stay there and have to re-explore your surroundings. 99% sure I got that from one of the Grouse House guides. |

So far it seems like hunting is favoured over every other role, with scouting being the least useful. Tbh, I don't think they would take you back to your starting biome, that would make the scouting feature broken and pointless. Assuming it doesn't get reset? I get the feeling that as time goes on older players are going to move to where the rare herb drops are, and stay there, putting newer players at a massive disadvantage. I agree that it seems like something that should be tied to your scout. If you remove your wolf from the scouting position, or they die, you lose your progress. I don't know if you can have more than one scout, but if you can then removing one should remove a proportionate amount of progress. For example, you have a level 10 and a level 5 scout, then the level 10 dies, and you lose roughly 2/3rds of your scouting progress at random. I feel like that makes it challenging, but balanced, and stops the lead wolf and hunters from being the most important wolves by miles. I mean packs are supposed to be a family/team, right? It's just more realistic |

My takeaway from this system is that it's too early to really take full advantage of it. Most people only have the capacity for one scout right now (if any). As you grow your pack and can support more wolves and slots for wolves, scouting will probably get easier as your scouts will be more experienced, have higher stats, and you yourself will have an idea of where and why you want to scout specific places. It might be great to team up with friends to scout sections and trade items between each other that can only be found in those other places. Hunting is kinda similar, too. Not enough space, wolves lacking experience and stats, ect ect... What I don't get is that I've heard you can't retain your leader's look after death by replacing the heir's looks but that's another thread entirely. |

You can have 2 scouts maximum at any given time (basically means that no matter how big your pack, you can only have 2). When you move your pack to a new biome, it doesn't reset to the beginning when the lead is replaced. You will just have to rediscover the neighboring biomes you don't live in. |
