Let Pups Be Assigned Caves [Reverse the Mom's Cave Feature]

Let Pups Be Assigned Caves [Reverse the Mom's Cave Feature]
Posted 2021-01-12 11:11:53

History / Information

A feature that was previously available was to assign pups attached to mothers (under 2.5 months) to their own cave. The pup stayed in the mother's cave while they attached. Then upon rollover - when they would become 2.5 months - they would pop into their new cave that was previously assigned.

I went to assign a pup a cave today and this feature was gone. In its place read the text "With Mother".

There seems to be no way to assign an attached pup to a mother anymore.

Questions

I am unsure what will happen to my pups now. This feature seems brand new today - as I did assign pup's to dens yesterday - so there's no way to tell until some 2 month pups who aren't assigned a cave rollover tomorrow.

~ Do they go to their mother's cave (like they did previously) or do they get thrown into the unsorted cave?

Reasoning

While the pups did stay with mother until they were weaned, it was a great feature to prepare your caves ahead of time. This feature helped me stay organized and keep my pup's organized.

Below is my reasoning why I believe it should be reversed. If this is in preparation for a future feature, some of my points may be mute. These are just my reasons at this moment in time.

  • Some dens have many pups. I have 185 pups at this moment in time, though I do realize most people don't have nearly as many pups. But for dens with many pups, the organization of pups is an important feature.
  • This will make our dens messy - depending on where the puppies go. If weaned puppies are thrown into the mother's den, you will have a sudden flux of puppies each day.
  • This makes Sales Caves a bit tricky. It was super easy to throw puppies into the sales cave and they go there automatically once weaned. This just adds an extra step.
  • Daily maintenance. Before I could set pup caves every 3-4 days on a day of my convenience. Now it will have to be done nearly every day if I want to keep my caves neat.

Yes, pleeease bring cave assigning back.
I dunno why this got changed. Maybe it was a heavy server load with keeping track of data on so many pups?
It was definitely a useful feature that I already miss. If possible, I'd love to have it back.

Yeah. My best guess as that maybe this lines up with a future update in the works, but right now it just seems like a really random thing to happen.

I also miss this feature, unintended or not. Even with just the ~20-30 or so pups I generally have, this was extremely useful to me for keeping pups out of caves I didn't want them in. I would absolutely love to have this back, or alternatively, at least put them in Unsorted, as that would be a better alternative than leaving them in the same cave as their mother (if they don't already since I haven't had any weaned since this update).

Just had some pups wean, and they stay in the mom's cave afterwards. I don't terribly mind not being able to sort them into a cave while they're being weaned, but I would MUCH prefer for them to go into unsorted after being weaned then.

Yep I definitely prefer that as a 2nd option if we can't assign caves again
