Wild Storm Pack Lore. Do NOT post

Wild Storm Pack Lore. Do NOT post

This is my first attempt at writing lore. If you are interested in reading, know that this is likely not going to read like a story- maybe more like a scribe's account of events? This is really just for my own benefit to keep track of familial lines, events, pack progress, rules, and hopes for the future.

Rules:

1. The leader position isn't hereditary, but leaders should have genetic ties to the pack. Leader's pups are like any other wolf, with the occasional Healer. Leaders are ideally female.

2. Healers cannot be Breeding Males, but can pairbond. Healers are highly discouraged from having pups until retirement.

3. Breeding males ideally do not have many genetic ties to the pack. This is to prevent inbreeding. Because of this, Breeding Male is NOT a hereditary position. This may mean BM's are outsourced. Breeding males should ideally be scouts.

4. Scouts are encouraged to pairbond to strengthen their ties to the pack.

5. Pupsitters should not have more than two litters if they are "born into" the position. Retired hunters, healers, or scouts do not have to adhere to this rule. They can pairbond.

6. Hunters consist of the rest of the pack. Two parties is the ideal- One experienced, one less experienced. The older party should be full unless there is a large age gap between parties or the older party has one member that dies/retires.

7. Wolves are not allowed to breed until two years old. (with the exception of the BM) For lore purposes, this is to encourage personal growth. It's really just to accumulate stats tho.

View Family Lines Here!

This (as of now) is complete, though younger pups are not included, and neither are deceased pups. Red lines represent pairbonds, blue lines represent offspring, black lines represent two wolves breeding outside of a pairbond. Generations are largely grouped right now by how they're lined up, though there is a number right below their job that indicates their generation in case that is changed. Some outsourced breedings (by other BMs) are noted on the family lines, as I felt it would be easier this way to represent half-siblings and the like.

Wolves that do not have continuing family lines will likely be seperated and put off to the side. They can still be identified by the generation number.

Hunting parties:

Keeping parties around the same age group (for ease of retirement) is proving to be difficult. To circumvent this, have puppies in waves. This SHOULD work, and will cut back on the amount of pups that get tossed out due to not having an open position.

Having puppies in waves also serves another purpose. It means wolves in the older hunting party can be disbanded at once and be reassigned as pupsitters for 6 months. Then they can be put into the retirement den as elders until they die. Because the older party will be reassigned or put into the elders den, I am going to start this process when they're around 5 1/2 to 6. This means they'll only be elders (and therefore dead weight) for a year max.

Since my older hunting party has wildly different ages, some party juggling may have to occur (or maybe reassignment for the lower statted ones?). That, or they can be sold off. The NS party is probably fine to continue as they are.

If I do this right, this should prove to be a beneficial practice.

NS Party is nearly complete. When they reach 3 years of age, it'll be time to train up a new party.

Elders can now retire a bit earlier without worry with the new mentorship system. Having puppies year round is also now beneficial due to the enclave.

New hunting parties will now be bred for every 3 years. Any pup born outside of the hunting party range (I'd like for a year disparity, max) will have to take up a different role, provided I keep them. Pupsitters are in high demand. It's also likely that I'll start retiring the scout position a bit earlier than I usually would to repurpose them as mentors, so pupsitters can take the scouting role.

Really hating the leadership/healer successation stuff.

1. Every pup will have to have at least one healer-adjacent lesson. Every adolescent also has to have at least one apprenticeship lesson with the healer. If they're mentioned as enjoying or having an aptitude for it in-game (a random dialogue I believe), theyll be marked as "Healer Potential" in their bio. ANY wolf can therefore be a healer.

2. Healers will likely retire as mentors.

3. While healers are in the healer role, they cannot have pups, nor can they pairbond.

4. They are free to retire whenever they want, though they are encouraged to stay until 100% proficiency. If the healer wants to retire they must pick a pup/adolescent with healer proficiency to take over.

Leaders will still be picked by the pack.
