Nested Wolf Incapacity Needs An Update

Nested Wolf Incapacity Needs An Update

Ahoy Devs and Players!

So whenever I have a pregnant wolf, I basically always give her a nesting material within an hour of the Rollover she'd give birth, and I feel like there's likely a lot of other players out there who also nest their wolves very late. This is of course because nested wolves are unable to function as a Hunter, Scout, or Herbalist, and people are able to minimize that by slapping a Nesting Material on her just a couple minutes before she's gonna burst. It's a much better alternative to making sure she's safely nested in the first day or two but losing out on using her for the remainder of her pregnancy right?

I think this the current system is great for squeezing as much labor out of wolves before they go into labor, but I think it's bad for gameplay and is in desperate need of an update.

A more consistent and realistic way I've thought of doing this is as follows:

> Pregnant wolves can have their nest made for them at anytime. This does not stop them from doing their roles.
> On the last day of her pregnancy, the wolf will no longer be able to do Non-Pupsitting roles.
> Nesting Material can still be given after she is incapacitated but before the next rollover without penalty.
> Players can toggle an option within the Nesting screen to automatically use Nesting Material on the last day if it's available. This does not stop them from manually setting nests prior to the last day if they want to.

That's the idea anyway. If this were to happen, it would stop me and others from using our very pregnant wolves to finish off an alligator in the riparian a half hour before giving birth (that's based on a true story), but you know, I think it would nonetheless be a welcome and sensible update.

Thanks for reading!

My significant other accidentally sent an unnested wolf out on a 30-Minute hunting patrol about 29 1/2 Minutes before rollover and lost 2 of her 3 puppies by coincidentally doing it 30 seconds too late, just wanted to throw that in as a good example of how not letting very pregnant wolves out the last day could be good for players

Would be a good additional quality-of-life change to allow Hunters and Herbalists to be recalled in addition to the Scouts while they're at it ~

Support. This seems like a much better feel for the mechanic.

Full support. I tried to nest a wolf after rollover when I received the daily update but she was hunting so I couldn't. Forgot she was due and not nested and she lost 3 of 5 pups on her final litter. I'm so upset by this and wish the game wasn't so harsh toward adults with busy schedules.

This just happened to me. I sent my wolf out on a hunt, it's the last day of her pregnancy. 5 puppies. And now I won't be able to nest her because the hunt ends right after rollover 👍🏻 awesome.

If they could even just add a way to cancel hunts that would be nice.

*Edit: 2 of her puppies survived. I'm so mad 😭 I paid good stud money for these babies gd.

No support - THOUGH I do support being able to cancel hunts and other activities.

Nesting last minute is a play style to achieve maximum productivity in your pack. You don't HAVE to do that. Most hunter teams can pick up the slack if you were to nest wolves at the beginning of the day, while they're at 1 Day. It would only mean 1 day loss of activities, and may be a better solution to members who forget to nest or run out of time.

(I get it. I've been there before. But I'd much prefer being able to cancel hunts/foraging/etc)

The nesting system already feels well balanced. You have multiple days to nest. Allowing wolves to do their activities would make it too easy - not making players plan, think, and sometimes not breed wolves if they need them.

Also, they do have a Nesting Premium feature that will nest your wolves for you. I didn't buy it, as I think it's too expensive, but it is an additional option.

I support, I'm not sure about the method, but I don't like the nesting as is, it feels like we are being punished by making our wolves more confortable, be it for gameplay or lore. We also have no current reward for nesting them early on. It would be nice to have a trade of doing so from the start.
