Did You Come Over From Lioden?

Did You Come Over From Lioden?

Since Wolvden is the sister project to Lioden, I am guessing many of you are coming from over there to play this new game. While they are both similar in design and general idea, the staff and the Grouse House both advise you to treat this as a completely different game and I fully endorse that. There are some obvious differences like the double mutations, hunting parties, and illnesses; but things have also carried over like aging crystals, elk/zebra hearts, and snake quests; so you might have some instincts on this "should" go that might turn out to not be the case.

If you are looking for more info on a specific topic, the Grouse House probably has the answers.

So here is a list of few things that you should not get confused:

  • Hunger is reversed, so 100% is good and 0% means bad (same as Mood)

  • HP only regenerates a bit at RO and by leveling up, not with time

  • Leveling up does not give you 100% energy but fill up your HP to max instead. It doesn't unlock biomes either; Scouts do that.

  • Pregnancies last for 4 ROs and the mother loses 30% hunger each RO, not the usual 20%

  • Nested wolves cannot hunt or scout or perform herbalist activities; they can still pupsit

  • Pup survival: a pup is not guaranteed to survive unless his survival bar is 100% and doesn't recieve a penalty or is protected for it. In general, pup sitting is different, no cooldown periods, no mood loss

  • Nursing pups get a 7% survival boost at RO when the mother's mood and hunger are at 100%. Once weaned, pups gain survival if they are fed and played with to 100%. There is a 8-15% penalty if not

  • A Lucky Foot does not win you a right, it gives you a higher chance of winning on each roll

  • Every food item fills 10% no matter how big or small. Depending on how hungry you wolf is it might feed it the entire carcass, not just one use, until it reaches 100% or there no uses left. Pups are filled by 20% per use

  • Rotting food (one day left) can lead to illnesses and is not completely safe to eat. It can be salvaged

  • The raccoon only has limited amounts of SC each day

  • The maximum level is 20; there are no impression levels

  • You cannot fight for territory but have to pay for it in SC (there is no talk of implementing another option)

  • Hunting success is determined more by stats, proficiency, and synergy in the party rather than the level of your wolves

  • Hunts are counted when they are finished. If you start one before RO but finish after it will count as your first hunt of that day

  • Stats play a role when it comes to choosing herbalists, hunting roles and which biomes you (can) scout

  • Personalities affect how your hunting party functions

  • There is no free amusement option to raise the mood of your wolves

  • You cannot keep the look of your lead wolf or use a stat replacer. It's either a reroll or a replacement from your pack but there is no reroll with "keeping the looks" option. Your new lead also won't be age down if they  are older

  • When you chose a new lead or new breeding male they keep the level they earned before.

  • Combo bases are not factor exclusive. It can be bred through its normal genetics (shade, group, rarity) AND through the factor bases in which two Tier I can produce a Tier II combo base

  • RO only ages your wolves by a fortnight; your wolves turn 8 years at most with a chance to die at 7 years and 6 months onward

  • You need to learn a new recipe before you can craft it

Other things to note:

  • You can only have one account

  • You lead wolf energy replenishes 10% every 7.5 minutes; your pack members 5% every 7.5 minutes

  • Some decor is exclusive and can only be bought at the Raccoon wares if you are living in the right biome

  • Illnesses and pregnancy can affect HP and energy regeneration

  • Since there is currently no gifting system, only trades, there are no giveaways or refunded breedings allowed in Main Chat

  • We can currently only age up adolescents and not pups

  • The cooldown period for NBWs (newly befriended wolf) is 2 hours

  • You won't find NBWs in heat, not even at the highest level

  • There is currently no karma system in place despite what some explore encounters might suggest

  • "clean" vs "dirty" breeding: While WD works the same as LD that inbreeding does not raise your chances of mutations, I know this is a popular playing style. There is currently no integrated inbreeding counter and there no unique names (unlike males on LD). For those of you interested in that, there have been some new terminology suggestions. Read more about it herehere and here. Families (clans) here and here. Alternatively, there has been a new clean breeding thread here.

~.....................°.....................~

This is not an exhaustive list and does not mean all the other game settings are the same as Lioden. Please look it up before assuming it works the same and don't forget to have fun!

Also hunting is not dependent on level, stats play a higher role, as well as proficiency and synergy.

If I recall, on lioden, hunting success was mostly dependent on the lionesses level? Having higher level lionesses also earned higher exp.

I think the HP system is the biggest difference that I wasn't expecting and find mildly annoying.

Re: food point, each use fills 10%, and when used it automatically uses the amount of use that fills your wolf to 100%, unless the food item does not have enough use, at which point the entire food item is consumed.

Oh! Energy regen is also faster then it is on lioden.

Lioden is 10% energy every 15 minutes and wolvden is.. 10% every.... 7.5 minutes I think? I've been getting this one mixed up. (Except pregnant females have slower regen, but they can hunt or scout while nested which is similar

true! but I am more looking for things that could be misleading or cause problems than general differences. I don't think anyone would mind regaining faster energy :)

Ah but it is! I didnt actually notice it till the second day when people mentioned it. I tend to calculate what times to come back and explore, so thinking 2 hours=80% energy could indeed mess some people up if they didnt know, and cause them to miss energy if they're trying to optimize
