had a pretty pup born today and i was looking closer at his markings only to notice that he has White Irish in both slot 9 and slot 10!! is this a fairly ordinary occurrence?

His dad has White Irish in slot 9 and his mom has White Irish in slot 10, so yes, it's normal (although not guaranteed) that their pups may inherit it twice! Puppies may or may not inherit a marking in each slot depending on what their parents have. You could theoretically have a wolf with nothing BUT White Irish 10 times, lol.

Yes, it is, actually! Since the father had White Irish in slot 9, and the mother had it in slot 10, they both had the chance to pass it to their children and sooo.. You could end up with a double of the same marking!

I hope this was helpful - he really is a beauty! Congratulations! :D

Edit: oop, seconds too late! Lol 😂

Gotcha!! Thanks to both of you :) haha it would be a really fun challenge to breed a wolf with 10 of the same marking, i just might try that out starting with this guy!!

and thanks Nelthyen, i'm so happy with how he came out!

If the markings are rare (things like merle or tamaskan unders, for example) having multiple instances of them can actually drive up a wolf's value! And if they're different colors/opacities they can look cool on top of each other. I had a wolf with a red marking on a white marking and it looked pink. And I once saw a picture of a wolf with 7 dilution markings!
