Are there no benefits for living in a more difficult area?

So I'm sure I've probably missed something. But me and my friends have been observing each other and the forums and it seems like there is no actual benefit to living in a harder area? There's only downsides, like hunting is harder and etc. Is there some benefits that I'm just not thinking of? Why would I not stay/go back to an easy area then?

(Also on that note, Aloe is supposed to be in the desert but I didn't see a single one since I've been exploring it non stop yesterday and today. Is it only supposed to be findable through Foraging in the desert or do I just have really bad luck? I moved there 5 minutes ago hoping to find out.)

Please let me know if you have any insight on this topic! I'd love to hear multiple POVs on this.

Well certain prey items are certainly easier to find in certain biomes.

Herbalists can also only forage items native to your area, you may have an easier time finding aloe in forage.

Also aloe is probably just a rarer herb.

As for specifically tied to difficulty.. I'm not sure yet.

Different biomes also have different decor and BGs for sale at the raccoon shop, so some stuff might be rarer  if there's not a lot of other players living there and you could buy it and toss it onto Trading Center to make money?
