Mutation Theories?

This is more of a discussion thread, but I wasn't sure where to put it! Please feel free to move!

I feel like its a no brainer that some day there will be direwolf mutations. Larger, wilder looking more wolves. 

I think hyena hybrids could be fun, but it seems unlikely, due to location. 

What about you guys, what big mutations do you hope to see?

Wolfdogs is my theory. Like how there's Tigons on LD.

and good call! Coyotes and foxes would make total sense! Id love a fox mix, I bet they’d be precious.

I doubt they'll have hybrids outside of jackals, coyotes, and dogs, and honestly I'm dubious about dogs as well. On lioden, a lot of emphasis was placed on hybrids that can happen irl, and while the canis genus can breed with anything within it, they can't breed with other animals in their family. Or at least, they haven't been proven to, outside of rumors with little substance.

The reason I'm dubious about dogs is... there's so many dogs. And so many different looking wolfdogs because of that. It would be a much bigger project to do than to a single jackal species, or coyotes. They would either have to generalize to the most common wolfdogs (gsd, malamute, husky), specify only one breed, or pull some random shit. Once they start doing one wolfdog, people will want to see other breeds as well, such as the poodle x wolf crosses from some experiment that happened. 

I'm mainly hoping that they'll have hybrids breed very differently to how Lioden has them. Canine hybrids breed very easily when they stop fighting, so having an event like the tigon initiation event would make sense if there's some roaming coyotes who the wolves don't fight, for example. I think it would be really interesting to look at contents of hybrids, and have to hope for breeding a hybrid to another coyote (in this example) in order to get more coyote %, while if you breed to a wolf you lose coyote %, within a set range. It would be much more complex to draw and code, the contents could be simplified to probably three contents though, but also more realistic, involving, and interesting!

I think direwolfs will come to the game as they existed !<3

Awww.... this got me all in my feels.... I had a wolfdog for 13 years.  She just crossed that bridge last year and I've never missed a pet so much.  Complete different ballgame from raising/training a domestic pooch.  Odd enough the one thing I could do with her that no dog has ever been ok with is put my face against hers.  I even butterfly kissed her with our eyelashes all the time and she was so cool with it.  I was her pack leader... so I got almost every ounce of her affection.  Best experience of my life.
