Slant, feel free to have the whole group move to the lookout in your post! I think the current scene's run its course: we all need to get a good look at the flood. Would the valley area be completely underwater? That's kinda what I was imagining... filled up like a bowl.

That works for me! Either the valley has flooded entirely, so there's nothing to go back to, or they've floated so far that its beyond their view. Which is entirely possible if they passed on on some drift wood or something.

I'll try leave it open-ended so you guys can think about what you really want to have happened to the pair and the valley.

Hmmm, I'm leaning towards the valley is entirely flooded. So it doesn't make much sense to go back because no wolves will be there.
