Tears of the Moon (Semi-Lit Wolf Roleplay)

Tiana || Female || Fire Opal Pack || Deciduous Forest

“Well, then, I’ll go track down our sleepy-headed stalker, and third chaser, and we can head out all over again!” Tiana told her team cheerfully, trotting away in the direction of the youthful trouble maker’s den. What exactly might young Litos be up to? Probably padding after his partner in crime, Darion.

Rue || Female || Fire Opal Pack || Deciduous Forest

Rue is stirred from her unhappy musing about a rotting rat carcass and a possum by the call of her returning hunters. She makes no efforts to hide her visible relief. While she is more than capable of hunting for herself, she would rather not do so on an already empty stomach.

“Starchaser! Baron! Good morning. Happy hunting, I see?” She asks, looking hungrily at the grouse. She’s pleasantly surprised that the grouse is indeed for her, and Baron’s explanation for why warms her a bit. As the leader, it is her duty to care for the pack…. But as a member of the pack, it is beautiful to be cared for. She wishes that they did not know of her injury, but having been seen by so many earlier, she supposes the nature of her condition being found out was inevitable. She waves her tail warmly.

“Thank you for your thoughtfulness. I was a bit sore this morning, but it has greatly improved with the Healer’s help and a bit more rest. This meal can only improve things. Actually, it’s rather fortunate that the pair of you have brought me this today. Baron, Starchaser, I think of the pair of you as rather strong hunters, fine additions to our ranks. I was wondering if the two of you would mind accompanying me to a meeting tomorrow? With another pack leader?”

Bone  || Female || (Soon) Rapid Evening Pack || Riparian Woods

Bone hasn’t spoken a word in well over an hour. She’s still in shock. For all her fussing about wanting to find her packmate, she hadn’t expected her cousin Blood to be her ONLY remaining packmate. She tries to self-soothe, convince herself that the others were washed away, or fled. But her brain is ensnared in cynicism. Most of them drowned. They had to have. Her parents. Her siblings. All gone.

She’s almost relieved by Druid’s blithe dismissal of Dances’ overzealous plea on their behalf. The leader strikes her as down to earth, practical, someone trustworthy, in a world where everyone she trusts is dead and gone. She doesn’t argue with Bianca at all as they are taken to the nursery, though ordinarily she would have snapped at them. She is not a pup!

~ Our Story Thus Far ~

Lost Pups in the Riparian Woodland
It was as if heaven had burst open. The rain came in torrents, the rivers flooded and swelled, homes flooded, trees creaked and splintered. Two adolescents from the River Valley Pack, Blood [ChaosPrincess] and Bone [Chaosprincess] found themselves in strange woodlands dominated by thick water... a Nasty Swamp as the more confrontational sibling put it.

The two had wound up in the territory of the Rapid Evening Pack, a riparian woodland pack led by a wolf known as Druid [Vile]. After the worst of the flooding had receded, the huntress Bianca [Vile], recently come of age, was spearheading a patrol with the adolescent wolves Jackdaw that Soars [Slant] and Badger that Bites [Slant]. Bianca is eager to prove herself, so when she catches sound of something off, she orders the two siblings stay put while she dashes ahead to confront Bone.

Bone and Bianca immediately get off on the wrong foot, and the two begin arguing while, unbeknownst to the others, Blood makes his way to Jackdaw that Soars and Badger that Bites, proving himself... the much more level-headed, even outright kind, than his sister Bone is.

Hearing the commotion between Bone and Bianca, the pack's adoptive scout Dances-in-Fire [Adept] descends from his lookout point and approaches the quarreling wolves. His appearance is enough to distract from their arguing, and soon the warm-pelted wolf was drumming the group of adolescents back together.

Bone and Blood reunite with - mixed feelings - but when Bone says they should be on their way, Dances-in-Fire suggests they go to one of the scouts' lookout spots. He frames it as an exercise just to see if they could make out the territory that they were swept from, but he and Bianca are both beginning to think - with a name like "River Valley Pack" and a flood of this size, surely-

The worst has, of course, come true. Bone and Blood's former packland is now completely underwater. With broken hearts, they realize there's nowhere to go back to... Dances-in-Fire suggests they petition the packleader for their safety. To his surprise, Bianca begins to show a change of heart, and not only wholeheartedly agrees, but makes a point of spearheading the initiative as though it were her idea - Dances-in-Fire makes no effort to correct her.

Upon arrival, Dances-in-Fire makes an overblown plea for the adolescent wolves' asylum, one that Druid grants, though not without some degree of amused exasperation at Dances-in-Fire's theatrics. She tells Bianca to take the new adolescents to the nursery, where the caretaker Pythia is. She also bids Dances-in-Fire come with her, and once they have privacy, she informs him that she has a meeting with another pack leader, and she needs him to keep sharp eyes for her.

After all, she'd just gotten a very interesting report from her scout Yarrow [Vile].

Restless Nights in Fire Opal
In the deciduous forest, Packleader Rue [Chaosprincess] woke from a strange dream with a fresh wound in her flesh. She went out seeking the healer, but before she could find him, was greeted by a strange wolf. The wolf, a scout named Yarrow [Vile], informed her that the leader of her pack wanted to know of wolves suffering strange dreams. Rue agrees to meet with this Druid figure to figure out what's happening to both of them in these strange and restless nights.

Her calls for the pack healer do become answered as her elder kin Smoulder [Adept] arrives at the scene and, her meeting with Yarrow finished, she accompanies the old man back to his den. They share some heat-to-heart about the dangers of dreamwalking as he treats her wounds, until eventually the rising sun drives Rue back to the pack and Smoulder to his sleep.

Meanwhile, the young chaser Starchaser [Adept] has been having restless dreams. He wakes with a start, and his own scent and body feel strange and foreign to him. He catches a glance of the wounded Rue departing, but is soon greeted by his team lead Tiana [Rue]. Realizing they're both up quite early, they agree to sneak in a small hunt before the rest awaken, but Baron [Pumpkin] rises to join them as well.

Starchaser's odd reactions to being up and about at the densite notwithstanding, the hunt goes off successfully, and the two boys go off to present Rue with a carcass while Tiana goes to rouse the rest of the hunting team. As they approach Rue, she decides to invite the two of them to the leadership meeting she has coming up with Druid...

Obsidian || Featherpack || Mountains

Obsidian blinked her eyes open and remembered she couldnt roll over. She looked down and licked her two pups on the head, Oak, and Aspen. Obsidian barked to wake Ember, who was in the den with her to guard the pups. Ember was sitting, half asleep, he yipped at the sudden sound and relized it was just Obsidian.
