probably gonna be in indefinite construction lets goooooooo BLACKSAND SHORES The Blacksand Shores is a group of warriors living in the Mediterranean, on a small and remote island. They are a culture that prioritises celebration & pleasure, yet also hold family & loyalty at their heart. They're descended from refugees that fled from the encroaching Arctic North, fleeing the spread of the uninhabitable Deadland. Their ancestry has taught them the lesson in blood family is the difference between life and death. They believe themselves to be descendants of the Sun & Moon, and place high importance on their Ancestors - some of which they believe have achieved immortality for accomplishing Great Deeds of sacrifice. Their land is warm, with black sand. They have warm, dry summers and cool, mild winters.

II. MYTHOLOGY Summary The Blacksand Shores was founded by Shorestar, a migrant fleeing from the cold frozen north. His home was swallowed by the nearby arctic sea, and he became a travelling refugee. Despite the cruelty the sea had dealt him, he didn't give up the religious beliefs he was taught in his homeland. He made himself an oral teacher, carrying on the legacies of his people's mythology and the value it had on the ocean. Like the relentless ocean waves cascading again and again onto a shore without end, he passed down his beliefs onto the next generations. They believe in a pantheon of gods - or, the Ancients as they are known. The Ancients were once mortals who lived as the pack members did, but their noble deeds in their lifetime solidified them in history, and forged their ascension to godhood. Each one represents a concept, and they are led by Soleil & Selena, the Ancients of the Sun & Moon. Blacksand Shores believe that they are all descended from these two Ancients in particular, and that this makes them special & destined for greatness. Blacksand Shores believe the ocean is sacred - it is a living, breathing sea that surrounds their island, like a mother around her child. The ocean is the sole child & heir to Soleil & Selena - although they are immortal - and acts as their vessel, and diplomat. The ocean guides the Shores for Soleil & Selena, communicating their will or wrath to the wolves, and passing on prophecies - its the embassy of the heavens, embued with the power & energy of the sun, and guided by the will of the moon. Although the group follows the pantheon of the Ancients, members are not prohibited - and are even encouraged - to follow an Ancient of their choosing more closely than the others. This is choosen when they become full-fledged adults - Apprentices are encouraged to get a feel for the Ancients and see which one they like best. When they graduate, there is a mini-celebration where they announce their choice and commit to join the rest of that Ancient's followers. Although groups of followers band together as sub-cliques within the group, there isn't rivalry between them. The variation between these groups is actually seen as a good thing. Ancients guide the Clan, but as they are all unique and defined characters themselves, they all have different personalities. Their behaviour & approach to the Clan varies individually. Most of the time they don't appear or talk directly. They talk through the Ocean, or through omens/prophecies. Members of the Clan vary in their relationship to the Ancients. All believe in them, but some are more laissez-faire in their attitude, being more casual. Others are dedicated to their words. Others can even talk to the Ancients in their dreams and walk with them - this is a very rare & special gift. The first wolf to do this is the poetic Snowdrop the Oracle, who served as Head Lieutenant under the founder Shorestar. She spoke with the Ancients a few times, and spent most of her life relaying her few experiences with her clanmates, such as describing their mannerisms. |

The Ancients  Hourglass life, yet Armed with hearts of eternal; Now eternal sand. - Snowdrop the Oracle
 SOLEIL protection, paternity, and the sun The Ancient of the Sun. He rules side-by-side with Selena, his wife, yet is nonetheless seen as the main authority. Snowdrop the Oracle described his pelt as being made from crowns, with a heavenly glow around him. Followers of Soleil are called the Solarite. It is held in common belief that he is the greatest Ancient, because he rules over the Sun. He is also associated with mystery & prestige as, out of all the Ancients, he is the most silent and least interactive with the Clan. Even to Oracles or his followers, he rarely interacts with them. When Snowdrop met with him face-to-face, she said that his glow was at times too bright to see through, and she had trouble distinguishing his face. Although he has a reserved & withdrawn manner, Soleil is in no way cold. He speaks in an concise & pragmatic way, but has a warm & inviting presence at the same time. He's logical yet cordial - not afraid to help the Clan if they really need it, but mostly preferring to let them do their own thing in quiet contentnment. He's an exhibitionist and is sometimes known, in his rare interactions with mortals, to subtly show off extravagant things he can do. He is the most unknown out of all the Ancients. As said earlier, he doesn't interact with the wolves very much, and even when he does, he speaks very little. To this date, he has not shared a lot of information about his mortal life, or the deed that granted him immortality. For this reason, it is frequently a past-time in Solarite circles to theorise about his origins or his mortal family. As he's an important figure in the outer pantheon as well, this theorising is sometimes done in the general Clan outside of the Solarites. (It's usually theorised that his Great Deed was one of tremendous sacrifice.) You can read Soleil's interaction with Snowdrop on her bio page. (TBD soon - not there yet) SELENA femininity, maternity, and the moon Selena is the Ancient of the Moon, She is married to Soleil, and they rule side-by-side, however in actuality she is more like a companion rather than an equal. She is seen as one of the weaker Ancients, but this undermines her true abilities & status. Followers of Selena are called the Selunars. Selena, out of the Ancients, is one of the most active. She interacts with the mortals far more than her peers: even to non-Oracles and average Warriors she is known to whisper guidance. As the Ancient of the Moon, she controls the Night and the Darkness. She is known to emerge from the darkest shadows of a clearing or the darkest thoughts in a heart, which means that most wolves find her scary or intimidating. For this reason she is one of the least popular Ancients, despite being one of the most important, and in the early days of the Clan when many Ancients had been lost to time, many wolves didn't care for her. Despite her dark and dreary atmosphere, Selena's disposition is commonly said to be loving and kind. Many pups who have gotten lost, and almost thrust into the waiting arms of predators, recall being saved by a dark shadow. Many find her scary, but if one is able to look past their initial fears and push past the instinct to run, they will find that the heart of Selena shines brighter than the glory of Soleil.
