A User-made Guide to Lineage & Heritage - and Current "Big Name" Studs
Posted 2021-04-08 16:16:46

Hello! ^^

This guide is meant to help give some context to no big names and NIB wolf sale listings and why they have these labels.

-

No big names generally means that the lineage of the wolf in question doesn't include any studs that have produced a large number of puppies. These studs may be popular only within a niche (like melanism or merle) or they may be studs that have been used site-wide for a variety of reasons (like high stats, a new base was applied, and many more).

NIB stands for non-inbred or not inbred. This means that the wolf in question does not have any duplicate ancestors in it's lineage. This could mean parents, grandparents, or even great-great grands. Some players don't count lineage past the first page that is displayed when you click "see family", so if inbreeding is something you're avoiding be sure to check the entire line. There is no set definition of NIB since inbreeding has no in-game effects and has been defined by the player base as whole.

*if you have an inbred wolf don't worry! It may be worth less (due to player demand) and so will any offspring it produces, but the wolf can still function completely normally within your pack ^^

Popular Big Name Studs

These studs are well known for their large number of puppies produced.

Leaderboard wolves are often considered "big name" because they have either produced a large amount of puppies or come from big name lines themselves.

Many of them have been successful due to having high stats and special attributes, like the once hard-to-find Fox base.

- Emperor (this would include studs like Fanrik who is also on the Leaderboard)

- Sunfall (and the wolves that he came from - Micheal Skarn, Micheal Scott, Shadow, and Echo)

- Faelor (and many of the more popular T3 base studs he's produced like F L A S H F I R E)

- Sango (high stat NBW with Fox base)

- Toska (plus his more unique offspring like Slice of Moldy Bread)

- Kōji (and his T3 offspring such as Kotobuki)

*some studs are both prolific and specialized, like the ones below!

- Mor'du (merle)

- Grimoire (stats and merle)

- Toshiro (stats and merle)

- Ursa (NBW albino carrier)

- Hanta (NBW albino carrier)

- æugh (NBW albino carrier)

- Casper (stats and albino)

- THE MOOF (NBW melanism carrier)

- Korosho (NBW melanism carrier)

and many more who are related to these studs/lines. Almost any stud who has produced over 500-600 pups will show up pretty often when checking lineages and therefore could be considered popular but not necessarily big name unless they have close to or over 1000 puppies produced. Newer studs, like no lineage T3s, could be considered popular as well but haven't been around long enough to sire the large amount of pups like the wolves listed here.

If you have any more notable studs you'd like to see listed here that aren't related to any of these studs please link them down below!

I hope this helps explain a little more about the big names and lineage/heritage around Wolvden.

Please feel free to ask questions here if you have any. ^^
