Marcy was just a pup when her father came through the den entrance. he grabbed her scruff in his mouth, and, with a massive heave, dragged her out of her nest. "Father! what are you doing?" she cried, desperately scrabbling at the ground. he said nothing, only shoved her along a trail. suddenly, he stopped. she looked up at the sky. suddenly, her father was gone. she turned in a circle, seeing nothing but the now silent forest. "Father? Celestia?" she called. her breath caught in her throat. "Mother?" she whispered. the shadow in front of her, large enough to swallow the moonlight, growled "Marceline?" she stepped forward, reaching out her foreleg. Marcy stepped back instinctively, and a stone turned under her foot. she yelped as she careened down the hill, unable to stop herself. her head slammed on a sharp rock, and the world went black, except the shadow that was reaching out its foreleg, as if to touch her...
