Hello, everyone! I haven't seen many of these around, but I'm bored and my siblings like them, so I thought I'd give it a try. This is a CYOA (Choose Your Own Adventure), also known as an interactive story. Basically, I write, and y'all get to choose what happens next. Most of the time, there'll be options; occasionally, I might allow more open-ended questions. I'll try to keep the paragraphs short, but let me know if you want more or less information. Before we begin... Alstroemeria is a type of flower. It commonly symbolizes devotion, patience, empathy, understanding, humour, respect, and survival. Each petal is said to have a different meaning, which varies from person to person, but each petal represents a quality of friendship. This little story is about a young wolf named Guidonis, teasingly referred to as Dark Flower Lord by his packmates. His story starts at dawn, then you'll choose how it goes... Chapter 1 [The Hunt] — Choice 1: The dark-furred wolf stares off into the sunrise, the spirits of swallows perched upon his back. The ghostly birds chirp and sing as if their devotion to music can bring them back to life. Guidonis smiles when they hit the climax of the tune — it's his favorite part of the song. Most birds sing to attract mates or warn of danger. His create new melodies simply because they want to. Despite popular assumption, Guidonis didn't kill the birds himself. He found them dying in the snow one winter night; unfortunately, none of them survived the hour. Rather than sending the carcasses to camp, rather than mourning their deaths, Guidonis invited the birds' lost spirits to come with him. Much to the unease of his packmates, the spirits never left. Light pawsteps interrupt Guidonis' private time, and Guidonis immediately knows who it is. There's only one wolf who dares bother him at dawn. Luckily, he rarely minds the additional company. "Guidonis," a nepheline she-wolf greets, or maybe states. "Yesterday, our team promised to hunt before the pups wake. Are you ready, or has the sun blinded you from your priorities?" Though Guidonis' fur doesn't bristle, it's a close thing. How should he react? A) sarcastically — the nepheline wolf was rude to him; he should retaliate likewise B) respectfully — this is his commander that he's speaking to C) petulantly — as the youngest hunter in the pack, he can get away with acting like a pup every now and then |

Chapter 1 [The Hunt] — Choice 2: "I am capable," Guidonis replies gratingly, "of telling the time, Commander Asterlyn. Should the sun blind anyone, it would be you with how needlessly long you spend staring whenever someone asks how soon until sunset." He glowers at the she-wolf. Feeling the need to ease the tension, Guidonis' ghostly swallows fly from his back to Asterlyn's. They coo a calming melody; unfortunately, one that has no effect on the two canines. Asterlyn makes a face of distaste. "Enough, Little Lord," the chaser dismisses. Her nonchalance convinces Guidonis to stiffen. Unlike most packmates, Asterlyn doesn't fear him. "The others should be waiting at the Salt Marsh," the commander informs. Obviously exasperated, she finishes, "I would tell you to meet us there ASAP; however, only Chriou has actually arrived." "...understood," Guidonis mutters once he realizes that Asterlyn has nothing else to say. Without waiting for a dismissal, he recalls his swallows and walks away. Now what should Guidonis do? A) find Aruan (the team's finisher) and walk to the Marsh together B) head to the Marsh alone C) ignore Asterlyn and visit Herbalist Pasadena just because he wants to |

I choose B. It's Asterlyn's responsibility to get the others if she's the commander of the team. |

Chapter 1 [The Hunt] — Choice 3: The trail to the Salt Marsh is well-worn despite the fact that only Guidonis' squad ever uses it. As he walks, the chaser takes the time to appreciate nature. Guidonis nods at the flies that buzz around an old carcass; he focuses on the feel of moist, muddy earth. Most wolves wouldn't bother with nature in the dismal swamp, but Guidonis does. As if the world wants to reward him, he notices an unnaturally innocent orange flower hidden behind some vines. Its brightness makes him smile. Eventually, the losna-furred wolf reaches the Salt Marsh. Just as Asterlyn said, Chriou is already there. Of the PSCI, Chriou is the oldest. He's also the most skilled although everyone is adamant that Guidonis will outdo him soon. If Chriou has any opinion on the matter, he hasn't said yet. For some reason, the swallows adore Chriou. They flutter onto the stalker who, in response, doesn't snap or flinch despite his renowned combative nature. He simply tolerates them, silently shifting to make both wolf and birds more comfortable. With that choice, Chriou ascends to be Guidonis' favorite of the PSCI. Chriou turns to face Guidonis, expression unreadable. There's no hostility yet no fear, not even the slightest hint of caution in the movement. In his mist-grey eyes, however, Guidonis swears that something dances. How should he react? A) keep the silence and wait for the others to arrive B) let Chriou speak first, hoping that his tone will give something away C) greet Chriou first and don't dwell on it |
