Ability to Override Autoassigned Hunting Roles

I would like to suggest a feature which allows us to choose a wolf's preferred hunting role. Imagine this: One of your senior hunters just died, and you excitedly add a new hunter to the team. Unbeknownst to you, you've been using the autoassigned roles for your hunters, which were incorrect, now, 3 weeks later you realize that your new addition who was perfectly selected to replace your previous role completely scrambled your team because of autoassign! Well, mistakes happen, so you decide to try to reverse the change by hand selecting your wolves roles when you hunt, except now you have to do this.. Every time for another 3 weeks. I am sure we've all been in situations where our autoassign roles don't quite fit our intentions, for one reason or another, maybe you're just starting a new party, or replacing from an old party, or maybe you didn't have the experience necessary to properly choose your wolves hunting roles originally and now you do, but have to deal with fixing them. Yes, of course, autoassign is meant to make out lives easier, and I appreciate it greatly! When it agrees with me it saves a lot of time and thought so that I can handle my daily hunts more easily, but as someone with ADHD I find it incredible difficult to not make mistakes or altogether forget to set my wolves when the autoassign and I don't agree. So what I am suggesting is an option, probably within edit party, which lets you manually choose which wolves autoassign to what. This would not stop you from putting wolves in a different hunting role when you do want to, (IE if a wolf is nested, so you have to double up on another wolf) it merely overrides the generated autoassign with your version. What is required for this change? Coding, but not very much of it. To my understanding the heaviest part of this is just editing the user interface, which shouldn't be too difficult. Since the components are all there, the program just needs to check whether to use the values provided by the current algorithm, or the ones provided by the users input. Cons? It's not necessary, but rather just a luxury, and could take time away from more other influential changes. However I don't see that time being very substantial. Other than that I can't think of anything, let me know if you do! This would be a simple quality of life/polish update that may not be desperately needed, but would certainly make things easier on players. Wolvden is a complex game, there is a lot to keep track of and can be challenging at times to keep up with, which is likely why its so well received! But because of this it can easily get overwhelming for players. Its not uncommon for people on WD or it's sister site LD to need to take hiatuses because of the amount of work required to keep up here. I think the little quality of life changes like this, which don't affect the actual intended challenge of the game, but remove some of the little frustrations can help offload just a bit of the burden on players to help keep them from getting too drained. Thank you for reading! I look forwards to your input<3 |

(This is not exactly an objection, I hit "support," I'm just not sure how relevant/necessary it is any more) |

Also, if your current hunters for some reason have some experience in other hunting roles as well it can still misalign your autoassign when adding even a trained new wolf. Or if you're actively trying to change a wolf's hunting role for some reason. |
