Because preparations are starting early! Starting on November 1st, Secret Santa will open to applications to take in participants, and close on November 28th. Please make yourself acquainted with the rest of the thread, as you'll find most of the information you'll need here! If you have a question that is not answered here, please ask on this thread or in PM and We'll try to give our best answer as well as possibly add it to the list for future years! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meet the Head ElvesCherokee #1831Owner of the Wolvden Secret Santa event 2021-2025. What's changed:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How It WorksIF for some reason you can no longer be a Secret Santa for someone, whether due to personal life issues such as school, work, family, etc or inactivity, and you know you can't, PLEASE let me or LunaWolfsong know if possible so that we can either find your person a replacement Secret Santa or allow ourselves time to find them a gift. Or if you already have their gift at the time of stepping down, send it to one of us so we can hold it until gifting day. Nobody should be without a gift on Christmas! Even though Wolvden has a wishlist mechanic, everyone will be asked to write a letter to Santa using a special form to follow the spirit of the event. The gift you give your person does NOT have to be what they write in their letter, it is the thought that counts afterall, however it is recommended that you read their letter anyway and gift them exactly or as close to the thing they really want! Letters to Santa will open on November 1st! So during December, please check back here often to see if your person has written their letter! Luna will leave a link to their letter posts next to their name in the Letter Box List for easy access! Letters to Santa will be your way of telling your Secret Santa what you would like, these things can be anywhere from art to items to decor and backgrounds to wolves and currency, but please try to be reasonable in your letter as some things may not be doable by your Secret Santa! If you do not write a letter to Santa, you are susceptible to receiving whatever your Secret Santa thinks you'll like. And Santas, if your person didn't write a letter to give you ideas and you decide to gift them a wolf, PLEASE make sure they have the territory space for it first! If it appears they do not have the territory space, or den notices about wolves about to run due to hunger/low mood/aging up, please find something else you can gift them. Something to help them keep their wolves from leaving may be of utmost useful and greatly appreciated! If you DO NOT receive a gift between December 22nd and December 28th, please PM me or LunaWolfsong so we can look into why! It may be that your Secret Santa forgot or has not been able to get on to deliver their gift to you (as Christmas is understandably a busy holiday for all). We will let you know what's happening if we can, and may gift you ourselves as compensation. Just be warned that should you need to be gifted by one of us at last minute, you may not receive the thing you were wanting most. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rules

Table Of Contents---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About Secret SantasWhat is a Secret Santa? For those that may not actually know or have not done this before, a Secret Santa is someone who is assigned a random person to gift on Christmas. The one receiving the gift does not know who their Santa is until the gift is delivered. It's all a surprise until then! Secret Santa has been a popular event to do among forums and games for a long time, some forums even do it as an every year tradition with the right kind of dedicated people to run it!What exactly do I have to do as a Secret Santa?Nothing complicated other than hunting down the perfect gift for your assigned person! Doesn't always have to be what they wish for, and some may not know what they want so sometimes you have to just surprise them! As a Secret Santa, it is your sole responsibility to make sure your assigned person gets the best gift you can give or the best gift they could ask for, delivered no later than Christmas Day!What is the point of Secret Santas?Well, nothing important really, it's just a fun way to spread the holiday spirit while having fun doing it! Sometimes it can be a good way to make new friends that share common interests with you, and sometimes it's just all about making a stranger's day a little brighter. The experience is individual, but the main objective of all is to give in the season of giving. How do I gift my assigned person and when? You'll use the Wolvden gifting function through the Trading Center to send your gift! Make sure you have the right ID when setting up a gift, don't want to send to the wrong person! If you're sending something like art that your assigned person may have asked for in their letter, you are free to use any means you wish to deliver it. You can use imgur to upload the artwork, and then PM the person the artwork for them to download and keep. You're free to watermark your artwork, it's up to you (if making them an icon to use on Wolvden, leave your ID on it so that it is properly credited). Your gift must be delivered between December 22nd and December 28th! It's okay if your gift is not "opened" right away, just as long as it's sent on time! If the gift expires before the person accepts it, you can resend it again, and if they still don't respond you're free to contact me, Luna, or your person themself to get things straightened out. Don't forget to leave a message with your gift, can be anything along the lines of "Hi, I was a Wolvden Secret Santa this year and I got you as my person! Here's your gift, Merry Christmas!".Who should I contact if I can't deliver my gift?Contact either me, Cherokee #1831, or LunaWolfsong #2578 via PM explaining what's going on (you can be as vague as you need if it's a personal matter, we don't need to know your business), why you can't deliver your gift, and if you already have it then send it to us so we can be sure it gets delivered on time. Otherwise we will take over and gift your person something else. We just need time in advance to prepare is all.Who can be a Secret Santa?Anybody! No special requirements, just the want to share the Christmas spirit with someone by wanting to make someone's day with a thoughtful gift! There is no limit to how many Santas can join! Get your friends on board! The more the merrier! How do I become a Secret Santa?Simple! By filling out the form below and posting it to the thread, your form will be looked over and your name will be added to The Santa List!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About Backup GiftersWhat is a backup gifter?A backup gifter is someone who volunteers to gift someone whose Santa has either gone M.I.A or had to leave the event for whatever circumstance. This is to ensure that even if we lose a Santa, the person they were assigned will still be receiving a gift. Be aware though, you may be asked to be a backup gifter at the last minute, so please only volunteer to be one if you feel you can handle it.Who can be a backup gifter?Anyone participating as a Secret Santa has the option to volunteer as a backup gifter! The application form at the bottom of this post will have the option to opt-in for or opt-out of being a backup gifter. If you choose to volunteer, we will put your name down in our notes as a backup gifter so that we know who we can reach out to if we need someone to step in and gift another participant! How do I become a backup gifter? As explained above, all you have to do is fill out the form at the bottom of this post and say yes to being a backup gifter where prompted, then submit your form once it's complete and we will take care of the rest from there! That's it!How many people will I be a backup gifter for? That depends on how many backup gifters we have in comparison to how many total participants there are. With that in mind, there is a slight chance you may be a backup gifter for more than one person at a time. What do I have to do as a backup gifter?Nothing, really. At least not until we need someone to gift a person whose Santa is gone or unresponsive. If a person loses their Santa, we will reach out to our backup gifters through PMs and ask who is able to take on the extra assignment.Am I allowed to contact the person I've been assigned to be a backup gifter for and explain to them why I'm gifting them? No. Even if you are not someone's original Secret Santa, you should still keep it a secret from them, since that is the whole point of the event. We don't want anyone's surprise to be spoiled. Even when it comes time to gift your extra assignment, it is best not to mention that you are a backup gifter for them as they don't need to know that their original Santa couldn't deliver their gift.If I no longer want to be a backup gifter, what should I do?If for some reason you no longer want to volunteer as a backup gifter, then please reach out to a Head Elf and explain that you are no longer interested in or are unable to be a backup gifter. We do not need to know the details for why, just as long as you let us know as soon as possible so that we can make adjustments on our end as needed. If the person I am assigned to be a backup gifter for hasn't been online and the gift keeps expiring, what should I do?If your extra assignment has not been recently active, or the gift keeps expiring after a few attempts to send it to them, we ask that you let us know what's happening so that we can figure out a course of action and how best to handle it. Most likely we will ask you to either send us the gift so that we can hang onto it and try to catch when the person is next online, or keep trying to send it yourself. There is not much we can do if someone goes offline and doesn't check in or accept their gift.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Table Of Contents---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About TiersWhat are the tiers and what are they for? After receiving some feedback through our survey form from last year's participants, it was suggested to us to try doing a tiered system for Secret Santa. The tiers will allow us to better sort participants into various categories and levels of gifting, which will also help participants with finding proper gifts for their assigned people. After some discussion, we decided to give it a shot! We have three tier levels with an added bonus level to pick from, which you can find below! How will the tiers work? The hope is to help give Santas a slightly better idea of what to give their assigned person, as well as help us with sorting. How it will work is you will pick a tier when submitting your Santa app, based on what kind of gifts you would like to receive from your Santa but ALSO give to your assigned person, and we will match you up with someone that chose the same tier as you during sorting. This should ensure that everyone gets the kind of gift they hope to receive and hopefully won't leave Santas scrambling to find something, especially if their assigned person has not written them a letter. You may only pick ONE (1) tier out of the three available tiers, with the option to add on the fourth bonus tier to that if you wish. What will happen if there are an uneven number of people in one particular tier? What we will likely do is separate each tier into its own group, and then sort each group individually until everyone has an assignment, instead of sorting everyone as one whole like we have before. This way, we will hopefully have minimal issue with uneven numbers. But if we do, there is a chance that some tiers will have overlapping assignments, meaning you may get assigned to someone that is outside of your chosen tier and that could mean you may not receive what your chosen tier enlists. If this happens, we will inform you when we send out assignment PMs.How will the tiers impact gifting? Each tier will have its own list of items from within the game that we consider to be of a specific tier based on its demand and rarity. When you pick your tier, you will not only be able to receive something of your chosen tier but you will ALSO be expected to gift your assigned person something that is of your tier. You must gift your assigned person at least ONE (1) item that is, at the bare minimum, from within your tier. This does not mean, however, that you are restricted to gifting what is within just your tier! If you are in a lower tier but want to gift your assigned person something that is within a higher tier, you are more than welcome to do that and we encourage it! You may gift as many items from any tier as you want AS LONG AS at least ONE of the items is from your tier or above. What happens if I receive a gift that does not contain anything from my tier?We cannot do anything to enforce proper tier gifting, therefore there isn't much we can do in the event that you don't receive anything from within your chosen tier. However if this does happen, please let us know immediately so that we can try sorting it out and mitigate the issue, as well as take note of any names we need to be wary of should this become a regular occurence. We may PM the person to have a gentle word with them about gifting within their tier, otherwise it's outside of our control and there's only so much we can do to prevent it from happening or fix it when it does happen.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tiers ListTier 1: Raccoon
Tier 2: Raven
Tier 3: Bear
Bonus Tier 4: ArtThis tier is the bonus tier! You may add this tier to your choice of one of the above tiers if you would like to give your Santa the option of gifting you art with or instead of game items. When gifting art to your assigned person, the art should be made either entirely by you or by an artist you've commissioned here on Wolvden. Please keep in mind the time constraints when choosing to commission an artist, as some may not be able to complete the commission in time for your gift's delivery. Please do not use art or linearts from people off-site or that otherwise don't belong to you. You also are prohibited from using AI generators, as these generators were trained on stolen works and data from artists without their consent and it is therefore considered theft to use them for any purpose. Receiving an art gift that is clearly AI generated should be notified to Cherokee or Luna immediately.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Application Form

Table Of Contents---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Traveling Santa WolfCan you hear that? The tinkering of bells...*gasp* Could it be?? A big burly wolf suddenly appears, giving you a warm smile and a jolly laugh. It's them! It's Santa Claws! They are making their rounds to all of the packs in the land, to spread the holiday cheer, and now they have chosen to visit yours! How exciting! The Traveling Santa wolf is a wolf that will be passed around starting from December 1st and ending when the wolf has made it through all of the hosting packs. As they travel from pack to pack, each participant will be allowed to add 1 decoration (excluding backgrounds) before passing them on to the next participant in the list. If the wolf reaches the limit of equipped decors but you would still like to give one to the wolf, please send it to the wolf's owner and it will be stashed aside until the raffle is ran, then sent to the winner along with the wolf. When they reach the pack of the last participant, they will fly away to prepare for a raffle in which 2 lucky participants will get to win them as a permanent member of their pack! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rules:
How it works:Who can participate?Any of the Secret Santas may partake in hosting the Traveling Santa Wolf in their pack! The wolf will travel to each Secret Santa participant that chooses to be a host, visiting as many of the packs as possible in a day! And while they visit, they will be under the care of the host, meaning they will need to be fed and amused like any regular packmate in order to stay happy and prevent them from running away. How long can I host the wolf in my pack?Santa Claws needs to make as many rounds as possible to everyone participating! This means they will be visiting as many packs in a day as possible, so it will be YOUR responsibility to decorate them and send them off to the next participate in the list as soon as possible! Be aware, traded/gifted wolves will have a 2 hour cooldown that will prevent them from being traded or chased within that time, so you will have the wolf for a minimum of 2 hours to decorate and/or add to its bio. You may keep it for longer than 2 hours, but please do not keep it for longer than a day. What kind of decors can I add?Any decors you want! You can add regular decors, event decors, and custom decors if you wish! But please be aware that when you add a decor to the wolf and then send it off to the next host, the decor item will no longer be in your hoard. That being said, when the wolf goes back to the owner to be prepared for the raffle at the end, ALL decors that were added to it during its travels will be going with the wolf to the winner of the raffle! So be sure that you use a decor you are not going to miss or can easily replace. Adding decors are NOT required from the host, however! What you CANNOT add is a background, as this will be pre-set for the wolf by the owner to match the theme of winter and holidays. How many decors can I add?Only 1 decor per host! We don't want the wolf to be overloaded with decors, so we are limiting it to only 1 max per person that hosts the wolf. You do NOT need to add any decors, you can choose to skip that if you want! Please do not add more than 1 decor, as this may create some havoc in the scene for the wolf and make it difficult for others to fit in their decors. Please see the above question for what kinds of decors you are allowed to add. What roles can I give the wolf while hosting? You may give the wolf any role you wish as long as the role is available. You may use it as a hunter, a scout, or an herbalist. You CAN use the wolf as a pupsitter for lore purposes, BUT be aware that once the wolf moves on to the next host, any pups it is assigned to protect will lose their protection, so do it at your own risk! If the role is unavailable due to a cooldown, there is nothing that can be done about it as that is a part of Wolvden's mechanics.Who do I send the wolf to?The wolf will be sent in order of the list of hosts that will be provided under their image (below). It is advised to send the wolf to the next person after you. If said person declines the wolf or expresses their wishes to no longer participate as a host, then please respect their choice and move on to the next person in the list. What should I do if the person I'm sending it to isn't online or the gifting of it expires? If in the event that the next host has been offline for a day or more, and/or the gift containing the wolf expires before it can be accepted, please reach out to a Head Elf or the wolf's owner. The wolf will then be recalled and sent to the next host. What should I do if I need to be offline for longer than a day while hosting the wolf?If for some reason you must take some time away from Wolvden and will be offline for longer than a day, and are the current host of the wolf, but cannot send it out to the next host due to the trade cooldown or other circumstances before you have to go offline, then please reach out to a Head Elf or the wolf's owner directly so that the wolf may be recalled and sent off to the next host.Who can participate in the raffle?Only those who agree to be a host for the traveling wolf may participate in the raffle for it at the end. This is so that someone who has not contributed to decorating or improving the wolf will not be able to win it from the raffle while everyone else who worked hard on it don't get the chance. We do not want to limit anyone from joining the raffle, but this was the only way we could ensure the hard work of the hosts will go to someone who contributed to it. So if you want to be in the raffle, you're more than welcome to be a host! How will the raffle be done?We will NOT be hosting the raffle here on Wolvden, as that would allow for anyone outside of the Secret Santa event to enter and potentially win the wolf when they didn't originally participate, and once the wolf has gone to its new owner it is out of our paws. So instead, we have chosen to go with inputing all the names of the participants that want to enter the raffle into a random generator and drawing a name out by hand ourselves. The winner of the wolf will be announced on the thread and in our Discord server, as well as contacted via PM about their winnings with the wolf + decors gifted to them. What will happen if I win the raffle but don't have space for the wolf?We will allow a 1 week grace period for you to make space and collect the wolf. The original owner of the wolf will hang onto it and care for it in their pack until space can be made in the winner's pack. If space is not made within that week, we will draw a new winner from the remaining names and the wolf will be gifted to them instead. What can I do to or with the wolf if I win the raffle?Anything you want! Per Wolvden's ToS/CoC, once a game asset is in your possession then it is yours to do with what you please, and this includes wolves. Once you have the wolf in your den, you may edit its name, bio, role, decor, gender, personality and even appearance. It would be a courtesy that you not sell the wolf for profit, however we cannot stop you from doing so if that is what you want to do.Can I send the wolf to hosts that are not participating in Secret Santa? No. The Traveling Santa Wolf is meant to be hosted by Secret Santa participants ONLY! You may not send the wolf to anyone who is not a Secret Santa, this includes any friends or players you know such as clan members. We will be keeping consistent track of the wolf's whereabouts and making sure it goes to the right people. If it is found out that it is not visiting the pack of a participant, then it will be recalled by the owner and repercussions may be held against the last participating host the wolf was with. Why is the traveling wolf not showing up in the list when setting up a gift?If you have given the wolf a role to fulfill while visiting your pack, such as acting as a pupsitter or extra hunter, that would be why as you cannot trade or give away wolves who have active roles. Another reason for why the wolf may not appear when setting up a gift, is if the wolf has a trade cooldown still in effect, as currently the cooldown is 2 hours upon entering a new pack before it can be traded or gifted away. Please make sure none of these things are what is preventing you from gifting it to the next host. If you still cannot figure out why you can't select the wolf, please reach out to a Head Elf or the owner so that the wolf may be recalled and sent to the next host.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Traveler Host ListHosts for Santa ClawsHosts for Saint Nichowlous---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2023's Traveling Santa WolvesClick our images for more info!Travelers of Christmas PastTraveling Santa of Secret Santa 2022 |

Table Of Contents---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Letters To SantaAs of 2023, the Letter Box has been moved to its own separate thread to keep letters more organized and easier to find. This is due to some feedback we have received through our survey. You can find the Letter Box as well as all of the previously existing information about them in this thread here! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About LettersWhat are letters to Santa?A letter to Santa is a letter you write for your Secret Santa to read, that tells them what you would like for Christmas! This is helpful for your Santa so that they can have an idea of what to get you that would make you the most happy on Christmas day!Who can write a letter?ALL Santas may write a letter! It is not a requirement, but very recommended if you want to be sure to get what you want or something close to that! If you're unsure of what to ask for in your letter, you're more than welcome to say things like "anything" or "surprise me" and leave it entirely up to your Santa! Keep in mind though that this can result in receiving whatever the Santa sees fit for gifting, which can be something that isn't what you want/expect or isn't valuable (within reason of Rule #1 above). However, it can alternatively result in something that is what you want/expect or is valuable (again, within reason of the rules). You could be in for a real surprise, just don't be disappointed with what you get because remember, YOU said "anything".Can I write a letter if I'm not signed up as a Santa?Unfortunately, no. Santa sign-ups were open for all of November, you had a month to sign up as one and join this event. If you aren't a Santa, and do NOT have your name or ID up on The Santa List, you unfortunately cannot participate. With the way this works with sorting people for gifting, we cannot add more Santas on a whim because it would require re-sorting everyone to ensure everyone has a person to gift and someone to be gifted by. I repeat, if you DO NOT have your name/ID on The Santa List, you MAY NOT write a letter to Santa as it won't count for anything! When should I write my letter?Any time! But be aware that we are implementing a deadline this year! Letters should be submitted by December 12th to allow your Santa enough time to gather your gift! It is strongly recommended that you DO NOT procrastinate on it! To allow your Santa ample time to get you your gift, please avoid posting your letter at the last minute and putting your Santa on a time crunch to get you what you want! If you post your letter just days before Christmas, don't be disappointed if you don't get what you asked for as your Santa may have went ahead and got you something they thought you would like before you posted your letter, or that they didn't have enough time to get what you wanted so had to find a quick substitute! Remember, ALWAYS be appreciative of what you get!How do I write a letter to my Santa if I don't know who they are?Glad you asked! You can follow the provided form in the Letter Box thread, where you will also write and send your letter, to your Santa! Do not worry about having to know who your Santa is, you don't need to know! Everyone will have their letter linked back to their name in the list on the Letter Box thread!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
