I am going to attempt it. I tried last year, but with my schedule, it didn't work out. This year my job offers a consistent schedule so I will be able to block out a specific amount of time for writing. I have an idea down that I have been slowly fleshing out over the past year in my mind and some on paper. It has promise, just need to actually do the thing. My goal is more to finish fleshing it this NaNo than anything. I want to get 50,000 down in plot ideas, character development, world development, etc. So I am a NaNo rebel this year as well. I hope to actually get to the writing portion towards the end of the month as well. My idea funny enough started out as a short story that I felt could be turned into something more. It has. I actually have the bare ones of 3 novels planned for it, it turned into a series. This is the first novel idea of mine that I have ever fallen in love with like I have. |

It's always a great idea to plan things out very well first, IMO. Are you planning to publish your book, once you finish it? It sounds like you've put a lot of thought into the storyline already, to know it's going to be a series!! :D I'm brainstorming some ideas right now. I'm in the process of finishing my first novel presently and preparing (read: procrastinating) reaching out to editors to get sample edits and pricing for a full developmental edit. It's right at 110k right now and I really, really need a palate cleanser before I start writing the sequel, so NaNoWriMo seems like a great way to do something different before returning to it. I hope to have the basics outlined in advance of November so I can set to the actual writing part on Nov 1st. Very excited to participate this year!! |
