I'm curious to see what the drop rates are for the various food items that the Prairie Chicken gives you in exchange for an acorn. I'm guessing that smaller carcasses are more common than larger carcasses but I want to see the actual breakdown. So I'll be recording my findings here, so far I'm not looking for help but we'll see.

Number of drops per carcass:
Weasel Carcass - 19
Meat Chunks [Small] - 25
Rat Carcass - 16
Stoat Carcass - 13
Bovine Carcass - 3
Bison Carcass - 6
Blacktail Carcass - 3
Mule Deer Carcass - 11
Doe Carcass - 2
Donkey Carcass - 2
Dall Sheep Carcass - 1
Horse Carcass - 2

Total so far - 100

So now I'll do some percentage breakdowns. I'll do a breakdown for each size category (ex. Critter) and then do percentages for each individual food (both percentage of total (T) and percentage of category (C)). There's no smaller classification than Critter but there are 1-use and 2-use foods to account for so I'm making a Snack category for those.

I'll next update these percentages when I have 150 total results so that they become more refined and accurate.

Snack (1-2 Uses) - 60%
  • Meat Chunks [Small] - 25% (T), 41.67% (C)
  • Weasel Carcass - 19% (T), 31.67% (C)
  • Rat Carcass - 16% (T), 27.67% (C)


Critter (3-4 Uses) - 12%
  • Stoat Carcass - 12% (T), 100% (C)


Small (8-9 Uses) - 0%

Medium (10-16 Uses) - 18%
  • Mule Deer Carcass - 10% (T), 55.56% (C)
  • Blacktail Carcass - 3% (T), 16.67% (C)
  • Doe Carcass - 2% (T), 11.11% (C)
  • Donkey Carcass - 2% (T), 11.11% (C)
  • Dall Sheep Carcass - 1% (T), 5.56% (C)


Large (17-28 Uses) - 10%
  • Bovine Carcass - 2% (T), 20% (C)
  • Horse Carcass - 2% (T), 20% (C)
  • Bison Carcass - 6% (T), 60% (C)
