She didn't wander far, definitely not as far as Primrose and Cricket. She was holding herself back, held by fear in every pawstep...She didn't want to go farther now... |

Lichen perked his ears. "Yeah, I think so. We can head that way. I don't think we can get that close before we trespass on their territory, though. I'm not exactly itching for a fight so bright and early." He started off, lifting his tail as a beacon for anyone to follow. "I don't care who comes with, but I'm going to check it out!" ((Small thing- I'm guessing rival pack members can probably recognize most of the other pack on sight, but they don't have to know each other's names. Like if anyone wanted to be an alpha, the leaders would be known by both packs.)) ββ Cricket lowered her head and immediately sank into the earth upon hearing the sniff. It was so quiet otherwise, it almost scared her fur off. She lifted her head until she thought she could smell her pack member, then looked back down at Sagegreen. "I'm sorryβ¦" She trailed off, touched her nose to his fur one last time, then turned around and walked in the direction of Primrose. As soon as she saw the pupsitter clearly, she sniffed and ran up to her, pushing her forehead into her shoulder. "Sagegreen is gone." She whimpered. |

Aspen shook her coat off and trotted after Lichen, letting whoever else was coming follow along. The scent of human, terrified wolves and metal became much stronger as they came closer to the border. "I don't think we should continue. I don't want to happen on anything bad or get in a fight. βββ Primrose whined softly, mourning quietly. "Oh Cricket, I'm so sorry. He was a wonderful herbalist and I know you were close. We need to go, Theia is behind us and I don't know who else is close." The she-wolf smoothed down her fur, trying to remain calm for the younger wolf. "Quickly now, the humans might come back." She nudged Cricket along, catching Theia's figure out of the corner of her eye. "Theia! Come over here pup, we need to go back and make sure everyone is okay." Rose called softly. |

Good morning / afternoon / next rolloverΒ  ))Lichen stopped as well and nervously pawed at the ground. The trees in the distance marked the territory line, but the wind blew a cacophony of smells to him. He looked back at Aspen, the whites in his eyes visible. "I'm not scared, but you're right. We can run back to camp and report what we found." ββ Cricket nodded sadly, and pressed her dirty white coat into Thelia's for comfort. Dead leaves and frost crunched under her paws as she started to head back to the Night Wandering Pack's camp. She hadn't thought too much about the other wolves, but she knew there probably wasn't good news. Sagegreen went out later than some of the others to distract the humans. Cricket couldn't bear to think about the details of what might have happened to them. |

A corpse⦠The young wolf yelped in fear and sprint off, running hard on his paws. No- The kill was recent! They could die too! This had to be reported. The wolf suddenly slid to a stop, noticing a shiny silver string in the grass. Hesitantly, he backpedaled, but a sudden twig snap made the scout dart forward and trip over the silver-wire accidentally. The wire closed around his throat, and in terror the wolf bucked wildly, Coughing as it became hard to breathe. He fell to the ground, his breathing quick, as his eyes drifted over to the stick that held the silver wire. |

The main area smelled bad, the human stench mixing with passing wolves. Privately, the she wolf wondered whether they'd have to move to a safer area. The humans might know where they were now and if they came back.... Well. No use thinking in the future, first just get the pups to a safe place to be hidden and then take Theia and Cricket back to the dens. Then go looking for the rest of the pack. βββ Aspen nodded, her fur slightly raised in cautiousness and worry, already starting to move away. "We'll tell the alpha, the other scouts and the hunters not to come too close. Whatever happened here shouldn't be led back to our pack." βββ I'll make an alpha just now!) |
