"Er, no. Kittens have kit at the end of their name. Like Rushkit, or Oakkit or fluffykit. When they reach six moons they get a mentor and take on their apprenticeship name, paw. Later when they become a warrior, our leader gives us our warrior name and it sticks. Leaders are also an exception...they have star at the end. My leader is Archstar!" He tried to explain as best as he could, even though he knew he probably shouldn't be talking to a kittypet to begin with.
"And there are many Clans? What are they called? What's the name of your Clan? Do the Clans sometimes fight each other? How do you survive out there? Do kittens ever get a mentor before six moons? Do non-leaders ever get named ending with star?" Questions raced through her mind, and she finally settled on a very risky one. "Can I come and see your Clan...?" Cinnamon winced as soon as the words came out of her mouth, knowing the answer could probably be a no.
His ears laid back as she bombarded him with questions, but that final one struck a bit different. "You want to see my clan?" He tilted his head, looking her over. Kittypets usually didn't come near their clan, let alone want to see it. That wasn't even getting into the fact that trying to get her to see the clan would put his tail on the line. He was already going to be in trouble for being out this far alone! Still, curiosity got the better of him. "Why?"
"All the other house cats keep talking about how bloodthirsty and savage you all are, likely to eat a kittypet on sight, but now that I've met you, a Clan cat, I know it's not true. And your Clans sound interesting. I've heard of small bands that littermates roleplay as, but since I never had a sibling I never knew what it was like. So... I'm just a curious cat, I guess," She shrugged. "I don't mind if the answer's a no..."
Eat kittypets? Is that what they all think? he almost snickered at that thought. "It isn't really up to me..." He mewed quietly, "I'm not even supposed to be out this far! But...you don't seem like a threat" he looked her over. Was he really about to risk his apprenticeship for a kittypet she-cat?! "I..I don't even know your name"
He looked around, nervous that someone might overhear them. "Are you wanting to leave your kittypet lifestyle to join? Or are you just wanting a tour?" He asked cautiously
"Kittypet life is so uneventful," She meowed. "Every day is like the last - get up, eat, be forced to play with Twoleg kits, sleep, eat some more, and then retire for the night. A tour would be fine, and if I am allowed I'll make my decision - whether to merely pass through, or join the Clan and leave my old life behind - later."
He nodded, thinking for a moment. "I can't believe I am going to attempt this." He muttered softly. "Alright. First, you ditch the collar. It's too noisy...if you don't mind me helping"
Cinnamon winced - her collar was right at her throat, a highly vulnerable spot. "...alright. Try not to kill me," She said wryly before holding her head up, exposing her collar - and her neck. She hoped Rushpaw's aim was fairly good, since she was taking a big risk.
