A Leader's Questions...

Posted 2021-12-15 17:32:58 (edited)
"Well, my response for that would be no, it's not exactly widely spread amongst my pack, but.. A bunch of them want or desire decorations in themselves and in others, I find it strange as I've never had an interest in decors. I imagine that my pack want these as a way to hide insecurities, and for some to intimidate or impress wolves that happen to pass by or visit. I don't like the idea of that second reason, it's not the way I want to present my pack and make others think of us, but it's the wolf's decision what the decorate themselves with, and I'm not going to tell them otherwise. I've noticed that normally a wolf's decor imitates or mirrors said wolf's personality and how they think of the world, theirselves, others, or who they want to attract as a possible mate."

"Now, it's your turn for a question."

"Have you noticed that some or all of your wolves have favorite food or prefer some over others? Why is that and what's so special about that specific food type? Is it based from their personality?"

Fallan stood up straight at the acknowledgement, trying to make herself look more formal. "Food, hm?" she laughed to herself for a second, "My hunters seem to really enjoy getting big prey. Smokescreen is the pickiest of everyone in Lighten Pack, he refuses to eat any small prey or fish!" Fallan glanced happily at one of her pack members, then looked back.

The auburn wolf nodded and turned to another leader in the group, "What was your least favorite territory to live in? And did it have anything to do with spirits?" she said curiously.

Lupe hummed thoughtfully. "To be completely honest, I do not have enough experience living in other territories to have a least favorite. I suppose if I had to choose... it would be the territory in the deciduous forest," they concluded.
"I have nothing against the biome, I am sure most residents live happily within, but I can only associate it with a very harsh winter," they shuddered, remembering how bitter the cold was. "And unfortunately, no. Nothing involving spirits," they sighed.
Mara nodded in agreement while Helen and Dysnomia only rolled their eyes. It had been a rather mild winter.

Lupe then turned to the next leader, tail wagging, and asked, "On the topic of spirits, have you, perchance, met any recently?"

Following an old trail of his father's, Bram was surprised to come across this gathering of wolves. He hadn't taken Codac for the social sort, though he supposed there was a lot about his father and leading that he didn't know. He settled into the crowd, listening to the other wolves tell their stories with a sense of awe. He was new to the whole lead wolf thing, and appreciated any wisdom he might glean from listening.
When Lupe turned towards him he first glanced away, but the question struck a chord in him. Bram sighed and sat down with a thoughtful expression.
"I've met a few, yes." There was a softness in his eyes that betrayed a lingering sorrow. "I see my sister a lot, by the river- " He caught himself, and forced himself to lighten his tone. "Our patch of the mountains is quite haunted, as some would say. One of our pack members is a spirit herself, in a sense." He was referring to the immortal wolf, Mercy, who had founded the pack beside his father. Bram wasn't sure if she counted as a spirit in the way that Lupe meant, but it felt like an apt description. As he gathered his thoughts, he glanced at the nearest wolf and dipped his head respectfully.

Deciding to stick to the subject he asked: "What about yourself, are there any wolves in your own pack who might be considered a 'spirit' or otherworldly in any sense?"

Spottedstar exchanged glances with her deputy and mate, Darkfrost and replied:
"No, spirits are spirits, and they already have lived and had a body, our medicine wolf might communicate with them sometimes, but no, wolves can't be spirits. Not in our pack, at least."
She tought for a moment, and after scanning the crowd of wolves, she pinted with her nose at one and asked:
"I have heard of other packs having "omega" or lesser wolves. Do you have those in your pack?".

Sovandary wasn't entirely sure how she got to this clearing, or why so many wolves were in Tribe territory and why. This was still Laurentide territory, right? ...

Oh, well. It's not like she was going to inform the rest of the tribe about this congregation - especially not Varshila. She shudders at the thought of another massacre.

The young dire wolf was snapped out of her thoughts when Spottedstar asks her a question. She appears reluctant as she averts her gaze and flattens her ears - oddly submissive for a pack leader. Regardless, though, she answers.

"Well, no, not necessarily," Sovandary replies. Her voice is gentle, and carries an English accent, strangely enough. "All official members of the Tribes are valued equally. There are no 'omegas.' But... we do take prisoners, and they are often treated... harshly."

Sovandary lets out a sigh after she finishes, sounding ashamed at the last bit. Still, it felt good to get that off her chest. She knows she shouldn't be here talking to outsiders, but everyone here appears so... wise. So knowledgeable. The Morningstar knows she should head back home before somebody catches her, but first, she just has to ask a question herself - she needs advice.

So, turning to the wisest looking wolf in her immediate circle, Sovandary asks, "Uhm, you there? Yes, you. If you were... struggling... to lead your Tribe the way you should, because-... somebody else was trying to influence you,Β  what would you do?"

Verdance enters the clearing, gazing at the other lead wolves. She notices Sovandary asking a question and answers "For me, it would depend if the treacherous wolf was inside my pack or not. If they were, I'd teach them manners with my teeth" She said, her eyes glittering, "However, if they were an outsider," Verdance glared suspiciously at the other leaders, "I'd give them leeway and allow them a second chance before chasing them away." Verdance appears thoughtful before asking a question of her own. "How does your pack deal with delinquents?"

"Well... we've never had delinquents... However, Totem, or 'The One Who Haunts The Forest' if you will, is our most rebellious wolf in my pack. I just don't fight him, or try to change him in any way. I know that I can't, or there will be certain punishments, not to him, but to me. You see, he's not a mortal, he's a ghost, dead. He can do whatever he wants, which has sparked his aggressive behavior. Now, getting back on track, if you have these wolves that you call 'delinquents', then I would recommend giving more severe punishments, sadly. I don't like the idea, but it's what would most likely work."

"Now, your question."

"Do you think there's a way to... let's just say, immortalize beings that aren't wolves? Like other animals...?"

Azure sat down on a rock in the clearing and perked up when Tamir asked her a question. It took the young wolf a few seconds to answer. Her eyes narrowed a little. ``That's a good question. to be honest, I've never thought about that before. I do believe it's possible to immortalise other animals. I just don't know how... yet. ``
Anubis, the pack's defender, came trotting into the clearing to see what was going on. ``Watch out, you might give her some ideas!`` He chuckled. He took the opportunity to ask the next question.

``Do you believe in other dimensions?``

Losgann blinked stupidly at question. It took him a moment to proceed it.
"I - I don't... At least I didn't until last month events. These green orbs and stories about Sidhe turned my world upside down a little." he answered, flicking his tail nervously.

"What's your favourite forest animal?"
