Notes(Stuff that needs to get put into the main lore, ignore any grammatical or punctual errors as this isn't apart of the main post.) _________ NomadinThe Nomadin tribe came to be many years before the fall of the Kingdom of the Sun. It began as a small tribe of mid-southerners who were nomadic, having a range spanning from the entire mid-south all the way up into the deep north. They didn't exactly get along peacefully with the kingdom, territorial disputes often occurred when they would venture too far into the north, resulting in many lives being lost. The tribe lived in almost constant fear of the northerners, with the other mid-southern tribes being hostile and the kingdom pushing further and further south, they had nowhere to run. One wolf, Úlfur, had grown tired of his kin living in fear. He had grown restless, and his endless ambition constantly motivated him to want more. He was the leader of his tribe, and he had to do something to keep them safe. After quite a bit of plotting, convincing, training, and rallying, they were ready to strike. During the night in one of the hottest summers, when they'd have the advantage over the north, they'd strike. With meticulous precision, Úlfur and a small group of his strongest tribe-mates were able to assassinate the Queen of the kingdom of the sun. They captured and executed her heirs and eliminated every last northerner that had even a drop of noble blood running through their veins. Defeated, and having lost their entire royal family, the north surrendered. For a while Úlfur was named their king, but with some effort he was able to completely dismantle the kingdom and send the remaining northerners fleeing to hide across the north. Now, the Nomadin reside within the deep north. They tolerate northerners who wish to live alongside them, but constant infighting and chaos is almost inevitable with them around. speciesNortherners: All northerners canonically have bad attitudes and temper and are generally difficult to live with. Physically they are much larger than regular wolves and have super long thick fur and large teeth and paws. Their faces are also more similar to that of a bear than a wolf, having very strong features with a gruff appearance. Female northerners are much larger and stronger than males and usually hold more dominant positions within society. They typically eat things such as walrus, seals, other northerners, caribou, and elk. The majority of the northern species follows one religion, in which they worship a god represented by the sun. This religion impacts almost every part of their lives, from birth until death. Northerners heavily believe in "survival of the fittest" and they leave most matters to be sorted out by natural cycles rather than individual bias. Mid-southerners: Usually have pretty balanced attitudes, though this can vary depending on the individual. Unlike northerners, mid-southerners have a diverse array of culture, every group is unique from the others. (Mid-southerners primarily inhabit my den but they heavily live with northern culture mixed in with their own.) Mid-southerners are large but much smaller than northerners, their fur is usually shades of grey or brown. WorldThe known world is completely devoid of humans. As stated before, these wolves are intelligent enough to have their own cultures, which includes having primitive architecture and advanced crafting skills. Currently they all speak one universal language. An independent wolf. Quiet. He always keeps himself at an arm's length from the rest of the pack. Some say he is cold and distant, others say he's the kindest wolf they've ever known. On his skin lie many scars. He is notably unsettling to look at, perhaps making one queasy or a little on edge at first glance? His shredded and healed body isn't for the faint of heart, and it sends shivers down most wolves' spines. His build is almost average, but it's apparent that he is heavily built and very muscular. His fur is long in some areas but noticeably patchy in others, likely due to heavy scarring. He doesn't really share much about himself. He appears to hold no one dear. (This is the part that's gonna need some rewriting, but it's an idea) In reality he cares immensely for his pack, almost too much. He will and has done whatever necessary to ensue their safety, including risking his own life and nearly dying several times for the good of his pack. To him, they are the only thing that matters. He is fiercely loyal and has dedicated many years of his life to fighting nearly every day to keep danger at bay. He wasn't born in this pack though. He knows little of them on a personal level. He came here after leaving his birth pack as a young adult. He left everything he's ever known that day. He did some terrible things while in that pack, but being on his own with his regrets he has been shaped into an incredibly dedicated wolf. He didn't join Nomadin with any intention to lead, but he seen how unfit Meriwa was to lead and seen the pack growing ever impatient to her death. He made some friends, although not "close". They decided to end Meriwa themselves and nominate Denali as the new alpha. Most wolves had seen his strength and agreed, as no one really wanted to deal with the challenge of leading and the repercussions of turning against such a large group of wolves to claim the position of leadership. He was reluctant at first but accepted the duty with time. + he felt like he couldn't possibly connect with another wolf again and couldn't tell or confide in another wolf about what he had done so he decided to close himself off from everyone and try to do nothing but good for the rest of his life. Though "good" might be a twisted term. While his pack views him as good he himself can tell that he's done some absolutely gnarly things to be able to protect them from threats. He practically gave up on living a normal life after the guilt of what he had done had consumed him, so he decided he'd never hurt his own again and dedicated his life to protecting his pack. Almost trying to prove himself to.. himself? Edits: Now he is growing closer to death. The past couple years of his life he had decided to let one wolf come close to him. Toklo. They are dear friends and they have a deep understanding of one another. Denali also has become acquainted with a young female named Winifred that he views almost as a daughter, though they're not very personal with one another (against Winifred's wishes. she looks up to Denali immensely, but he knows it's best to not allow her to get too close.) Winifred is Denali's heir. He's "nominating" her as alpha after his death and nobodies really objecting because he's strong as fuck but they'll likely try to overthrow Winifred once Denali dies because she's weak but Denali is making sure that Toklo, even though he's also getting old, is going to be there to protect her until she's more established as the alpha. She's a very rambunctious and friendly wolf so she's got a few allies to help with that too. Let's hope Denali made the right choice putting her in power. |
