Adoptables pricing ? (help)

Adoptables pricing ? (help)
Posted 2022-05-01 06:22:23 (edited)

Hello,
(I don't know if it's the right place to post this but...)
I'm currently working on a few adoptables (this will be my first time at it) & I have absolutely no idea what the base price should be...

So I need your help !!

I intend to auction them, they'd be sold named, colored, along with a bust shot & some lore !

Here's one of them !

How much would you set the base price as ? (both IRL currencies & in game one)
If you also have any tips on selling adoptables I would be happy to hear them !

Deciding to pop in as a artist to artist, sorry for the length of the thread !

I'm a hobbiest artist , and while i dont have much experience on Wolvden with art, I've managed two very successful threads : pwyw watercolors and ych sales

I'd say adoptables definitely isn't something this community is too interested in ; majority of my work has been to either users who are attached to their lead wolves or random animals they'd crave in my style

There is definitely a small portion of adoptable-seeking users, though it's smaller consumer-wise then the demand for pagedolls,
ychs, scenes, ect

Now, in regards to pricing

It's without a doubt that realistically ; you won't be able to charge your average prices for your work here if it's not dirt cheap. My regular prices are a fair bit higher then my Wolvden prices, simply since despite 's store price, there's definitely a shortage of users with the currency. I've found that most users who purchase artwork on this site for these higher prices are almost always looking for wolf-related pieces

I've seen some adoptable threads, though I've yet to see one actually sell any adoptables for more then 10 ; I've never seen anything sold for any sort of monetary value

personally wouldn't work for anything less then 40 for a fully finished piece, perhaps :20: for a heavily re-used lines (ie : similar to my cheapest ychs).

My recommendation would be 15 - 20 , perhaps a Gachapon as marketing , though in all honesty I just wouldn't personally recommend you to create adoptables on Wolvden if im being totally realistic

. Wolvden is a great place for selling specific artwork, but only if you're looking to get strictly at a lower rate then working for USD

It's totally fine, I'm even glad someone answered & gave me a bit of insight :D

You did convince me to not do this on Wolvden (I've always felt like I wasn't getting much or was able to price as I should on normal commissions) which forced me to lower the quality of my art in a way-

To be honest, I wouldn't know anywhere else to sell adoptables (I'm not actively posting on social medias either) out of Toyhouse, which I'm not too familiar with either ; it scares me a bit, looking at how big the community is.

On that note, if I were to do an adoptable shop on ToyHouse (or anywhere else in general), what would be an acceptable price in your eyes ? :0

(sorry, I really come off as a newbie, but that's exactly what I am sdkxqsld:m)

No worries ! I'd rather be honest then pretend everything here is amazing for artists, especially if you don't fit into the box of what is wanted

I would say Wolvden is great if you just want to get ahead on wolvden, though adoptables, writing , ect ; that just has very little interest. 'One-Shot' YCHs i've found great success with, as users get the sketch whilst also getting a unique piece ; so it helps with the trust issues a large portion of customers here have

I would recommend Toyhouse , Twitter or Instagram ; though I wouldn't recommend just creating adoptables ! I actually collect, trade and design myself on my own toyhouse and usually it's best to brand yourself first

you'd have to brand yourself before being able to realistically sell much ; marketing yourself and your skills

I'd recommend using toyhouse alongside another social media , and just simply posting artwork and advertising your designs. I use toyhouse, twitter and instagram ; the more the merrier

Indeed, & thank you a lot for that !

I do in the end get to get ahead on Wolvden, so I don't mind not selling anything too serious or even deglecting my prices on that side. I should try YCHs sometime, once I learn how to draw wolves of course-

I'll start getting serious on Toyhouse then, it's a bit overwhelming since I don't know exactly where and how to start, but all of that helped a lot !! :)

Toyhouse can be overwhelming, but once you get used to it - it's something you'll never not want ! If you need a code I can give you one
