The door to Donnie's bedroom shut, but he didn't hear it, so he continued on his angry-cleaning rant.
"Like- The hell?! Why does he get to be ripped, and hot?!" - Washing the dishes from when he cooked breakfast
"Makes no goddamn sense . ." - Drying the dishes
"Fucking idiot. . He knows damn well that I'm gay-" - Aggressively putting the dishes away
"I swear, he's just tryna screw with me at this point!" - Closing the cabinets and turning around
"Goddamn midget- AGH!" - Realising he's had an audience.

He turned a bright shade of red as he watched Carlos break down laughing. He couldn't help but think that this may be the first time he's seen his real smile. Not just the one he puts on for his 'act'.

Carlos couldn't help but break down into laughter as he saw Donnie's shocked expression. "Oh my god your reaction was great!" He said as he laughed a genuine smile on his face. He didn't realize it but the moment he did, he immediately got rid of the smile and cleared his throat. " It was funny." He said with a huff.

There was a slight embarrassed look on his face despite him trying too cover it up.

He watched as Carlos' joyful expression was pushed back.
" . . . Why do you do that?"
Carlos met his gaze with a confused expression.
"Why do you hide your emotions. You're not at work right now, so- Why hide it?"
Though he normally might have laughed at the embarrassed look on Carlos' face, he didn't. This was a serious question that he wanted an answer to.

"You're allowed to be happy, you know.." He raised a hand and rubbed the back of his neck, before putting it down and crossing his arms.

Carlos didnt answer at first, "It doesn't really matter. It isnt something that's a big enough deal to have a discussion over it." He said, changing the topic, "Thanks for letting me borrow the shirt." He said, his tone in that blank kinda tone

He put his hands in his pockets, no longer in the relaxed position it was moments before. He had a hard look to his face, and a tense posture.

Trying not to let himself get too irritated, he leaned back against the counter and started messing with his shirt.
"Carlos, it does matter. You close yourself off from any sense of joy, and it's depressing as fuck." He tried to respond calmly, but it came out a bit more aggressive than he had intended it to.
Waiting for Carlos to reply, he let his mind wander a bit.
Damn that shirt is huge. Now that I think about it, my crop tops might actually fit him better than that... Oops.

Carlos seemed to flinch a little but it was just a quick, brief reaction. "Its what I do. So no need to question it." He said as he crossed his arms and shifted his weight a little. He knew the shirt looked rather big on him, but there was nothing he could do about it.

Though he knew Carlos tried to hide it, Donnie saw him flinch. He hadn't meant to offend him, and he felt bad about it. Unfortunately, he has no filter, and kept going.
"I understand that it's 'just what you do', but I don't think that even you know why you do it." He took a step towards Carlos.
"Is it because you're afraid that once you accept that you're happy, it'll be taken away?" And another step.
"Or is it because you're so paranoid that you've cut everyone and everything out of your life?!" And another.
"You're just saying no to the universe before it can say no to you! It's ridiculous! Unless, of course, I'm mistaken." He added that last part sarcastically, knowing he had been right on point.

He hadn't yet realised that they were now standing face-to-face. He was angrier than he thought he would be. I guess that's what happens when you just bottle your emotions up.
Bottle has to break eventually.

The hard shell that Carlos had put himself in seemed to be cracking. His gaze on Donnie seemed to falter with every step he took. His hands seemed to shake a little bit he cut just tightened the grip he had as he kept his arms crossed. That hard shell seemed to finally crack and he took a step back from Donnie.

He tried to keep the hard look on his face or at least a blank look but for some reason he struggled to keep the look on his face. In fact he actually looked scared of Donnie. The look showed in his eyes

Donnie noticed how he had gotten up in Carlos' space. While he didn't take a step back, he did notice that Carlos seemed to be struggling. He wouldn't make eye contact with Donnie anymore, and he was squeezing his arms so tightly that Donnie was worried he might actually draw blood.
Donnie had been prepared to drop it, and back off, but then Carlos stepped back from him and bumped into the table. He could see that Carlos was struggling to keep his act up, and he could see it in his eyes.
Fuck it.

He took one final step forward and wrapped his arms around Carlos. He could tell how shocked he was, but he didn't let go.
"I'm sorry. How you process shit is your business, not mine."
He still felt Carlos' hands shaking, but then . .

Carlos couldn't stop himself from shaking, no matter how hard he tried to think of something he couldn't. The moment Donnie took another step closer to him, he had been prepared to run. What he had said had been 100% true. He felt his whole act falling apart.

The moment Donnie hugged him, shocked him. His hands was still shaking and soon he felt himself hugging Donnie back. His arms held onto him, like he was a life support. He just clung to him
