Does Your Pack Have Lore?

@Crickets Sorry! I had read the directions when I found this, but then got side tracked on finishing a wolf's story and I forgot. That's why I'm doing it today. I also need to do some of the 'Wolvember' too, thanks for sharing!! @Canidae(3 gifts 2 goal) I like how you have a theme for your pack. It's cool that it's created of the broken and dead. The way they are named is interesting, too. Their communications was smart of you to think of, and the 'pups born dead are born alive here' gave me a picture of a soul floating from one body to another. I like how unique the pack is and how they have their own styles and methods. @Sen_fin I like how you described the pack's role and how your pack is different than others. I like the hierarchy (which reminds me that I need to make one of my own) and your descriptions make the landscape and surroundings come alive. Their special talent of blending-in is cool! My own story below: |

@Ranger: The emotions come across really well, and there's some great imagery too— just Falcon's ear's poking up above the log is cute! I like the descriptions of humans and human things; it's still clear to us humans what they are but shows that the wolves don't know. And a small thing but I enjoyed hearing his dialogue in a Scottish accent as I read, thanks for sharing that detail. (I read through the earlier wolves' bios you posted too. Grey's history is so sad... but good stuff.) @Crickets: I love how much your pack has going on, all the backstories and the various relationships and just how much detail you put into evertying. The writing in your stories is economical in a good way, gives a good sense of place and emotion without going overboard. Also coming across your blog inspired me to make my own. :) So... me... the pandemic hit my writing motivation hard, I haven't written pretty much since at least April. Please forgive the quality as I whip my limp noodle-y brain muscles back into shape. x_x Packwide lore (like shared culture, rituals etc.) is thin on the ground, but I have a sense of personalities for most wolves and am looking forward to fleshing those out in stories. I also have a plan mapped out for their future based on actual geography, so that's fun. The impetus for the moves will be a combination of emotional reasons (a wolf the leader respects will be dying soon), practicality (the territory isn't providing enough food), and a dream the herbalist had about their ultimate destiny. That way they'll get to try out life in most of the biomes. Glacier, tundra and swamp are the three I know they won't get to; taiga might happen if I can figure out a reason for them to detour further north. Also the herbalist is cooking up something like a mad scientist... it involves grove items (marking applicators and such, stuff related to appearance). He's going to spring it on a pack member unexpectedly while she's sleeping. :D I like having a lore reason behind the changes, but since my pack doesn't have deities it gets to be tied to science (more or less). Sex changing will probably be his next project. I have a thread to serve as a hub with any lore, their current location & pack members, and important events lined out by year of play. The den page tells the story of the pack's founding, and for more stories I've set up a blog. |

Hey @Levi! I'm glad I inspired you to set up a blog haha, I'll give you a follow! & thank you for your kind comments-- economical is especially nice to hear, 'cause I feel like I often over-write. So thank you! 100% don't feel bad the pandemic killed your motivation! It's put a bit of a damper on some of my personal projects too. We're all dealing w/ a global event here, so it's definitely ok to take a break/get a bit rusty. That said: It's really cool you've tied your pack to specific real world locations (in Canada no less! My pack's probably somewhere in my province- BC- themselves, but I def don't have as many specifics as you do)! I also love the sound of a 'mad scientist' herbalist, I haven't seen that angle before. All sounds really cool so far-- I'll prob go poke around your blog after posting this. Thanks for sharing! |

Thank you! Followed right back. Oh boy, I'm American so I'll have to double down on my research with an actual Canadian watching! :D ("Mad scientist" is a slight exaggeration— mostly he's bored with the regular herbalist tasks so he's branching out... but he is an unpredictable fellow. And overly dramatic. And not the most ethical, experimenting on other pack members without permission. At least we know it'll have a happy ending.) |

Pack Lore Deep within the land of wolves live a mighty pack with fire in their soul called 'Broiling Pack'. They live a pretty docile life, moving from place to place whenever they feel it is necessary. Onc thing would never change for them though, 'the birds'. They never hunt nor kill any birds since it is against their belief. They believe that every bird is a guardian who will guide a wolf soul once they pass on, therefore they show every bird with respect. They collect their feathers, play with them, and even keep some as a companion. |
